^Really though, how were they supposed to end BSG?

They gave themselves limited options based on how their society had changed over the 4 seasons

Best episode was in season 1, where they take the tillium from the Cylons, oh yeah!

"All this has happened before, and all this will happen again."

Hmmm. This has more content, but there's several inaccuracies that are clearly refuted in my video. For example, the author claims poison strike doesn't stagger (???!). When they say a short poison strike barely gets through a brute, they miss the point - poison strike can hit targets behind you, so a short poison strike with double dash can hit a brute twice. Once when he's in front, and again when you barely pass through.

The author acknowledges that poison strike is a strong escape and that the heavy melee is a great way to close the gap, but doesn't put melee and poison strike together which I mention as a great combo for learning the class and getting hit and run.

The author complains that heavy melee won't get martial artist going because it's not enough to one-shot a lot of enemies. IRRC, the max theoretical heavy melee damage is north of 4k dmg. You only need about 3.5k dmg to one-shot most gold enemies. I'm guessing the author didn't know or forgot that the heavy melee does about a third of it's dmg as a dot. Waiting a couple seconds instead of "finish the enemy with light melee" as the author proposes would probably get the martial artist they're so concerned about.

The fact that the author seems misinformed about the cabal is the main reason I made the video.

This attitude that there's nothing new to learn is the other reason I made the video.

Just because a lot of people have looked at something, doesn't mean someone else doesn't have something new to say. In response to your list:
1 - if you really believe that, what are you doing here?
2 - Like I said, it was supposed to be a joke. But it got people talking, so maybe it was a happy accident. We'll see.
3 - People keep saying this and I keep agreeing. The first 30 seconds of my video should make my attitudes about this issue clear

Did you guys even watch the video?

I'm here because I like playing this game and I like talking about it. Every once in a while, you see something new, and much more frequently, you see something fun or entertaining. And I recognize that something can be "new" to me, but not "new" to the community as a whole. You seem to lack that recognition. EDIT: I'm not saying you shouldn't make the video or try to find new things, I'm just giving you tips to make it be received a little better. "Hey, this is a way I like to play with the Cabal that isn't shown in most of the videos I have seen" is much more likely to get a positive response than "Hey, here's the best way to play the Cabal, and the way you all play is lazy and uncreative."

I did watch the video, and the attitude in the video makes "It was supposed to be a joke" seem kinda BS. But I'll take your word for it, because I don't care.

Valkyrie is pretty boring IMO  Tanky, but boring.

Fury all the way!

Fury is kind of off-topic, IMO, as Valkyrie compares more directly to Justicar.  She's like a Justicar who takes her Bubble with her.  And carries a Lord Raider Shotgun.  Fury doesn't Raider Shotgun.

In any case, Valkyrie, Justicar, and Fury all enter the room, and things explode!  Cabal enters the room and looks for ways to disengage.

Challenge accepted. Expect tons of missed shots at point blank but it'll make a fun video.

... When the cabal comes out, she's got a completely unique set of abilities. But years later, there's no consensus on how to put it all together. There's some good ideas about how to use melee or poison strike, but most builds emphasis nightshade blades and a weapons platform, ignoring all that. Where's the creativity? Where's the depth? What happened to finding out what makes a class different?....

Creativity and depth were lost due to lag. You might want to consider changing your title to reflect that it is an explicitly on host guide to the character. Whereas nightshade blades and biotic focus work reasonably well off host. However, melee targeting, poison strike, double dash and even simple dodge without going through the walls do not work like 50% of the time even on a reasonable host with small lag. IMHO, calab is one of the most glitchy characters of all probably because she was released in the last batch and there was no time to adequately account for glitches with her.

I honestly tried a build similar to what you describe in the video to work in a similar manner off host. It might work for a few moments here and there but in general, I tend to die a lot and glitch a lot even with cyclonics. Probably, my personal l2p problem with this kit. However, When I slammed typhoon on her, skipped poisoned strike and used BF+grenades, things greatly improved. I'd say it is not much fun to play her that way but it is very efficient.

However, overall, I very nice guide IMO. At least somebody can make it work reliably.

Also, iirc, I have met exactly a single player who played cabal in the manner similar to that shown in your video. I don't remember the name but it might have been you. I should have remembered as I'm a huge Farscape fan. So, maybe I remember the game just because of you. it was maybe 3 or 4 months back on FB Dagger and I played a horrible cabal also and the lag was pretty bad as I was dead before I could do anything. Yes, there were two cabals in that game. Probably, that other cabal (you?) were hosting, not sure though.

My single biggest issue with Cabal is that sometimes when dash teleporting or Poison Striking, I have on numerous occasions become completely and irrevocably STUCK and unable to do anything besides ragequit.  It happens a lot offhost, as it seems to be a bug with the teleport starting at the same time you get hit by something.  Though I'm pretty sure it's happened to me as host also.

considering the OP said "I didn't like the way people were playing the cabal" im not entirely sure how that translates into "your all doing it wrong and suck".

ive played the melee cabal and it can be fun, perhaps not optimal but if we play optimal all the time we end up with valkery+reeger and get called out for no skills.

bsn is a funny place sometimes and forgets fun can be had in the game.

First, the claymore is obviously superior.

I like this guy already! :D

Anyway, the Cabal is a kit with tremendous potential, both in effectiveness and fun, but most of which is ruined by glitches or things that don't behave as you would expect them to. Firstly, and most importantly, the fact that, as you noticed, if you try to teleport somewhere you're not allowed to be, you not only don't end up there like with the fury or the Slayer, you just don't teleport at all. Which makes all her teleporting abilities basically useless on London, for example. Which sucks hairy ass.

I play the Cabal with an emphasis on Poison Strike. Granted, I only play gold and use high end equipment (power amp 3 or 4). I skip biotic focus and opt out for full fitness (better synergy for my game play). This is my loadout:

http://kalence.weebl...!34O54334!80.EG

My Poison Strike can kill most unshielded enemies with a single strike. I use the talon to prime shielded enemies for a tech burst and then poison strike; most die by the resulting Poison Strike.

Nightshade Blades (spam) are reserved for armored enemies and phantoms (Blades + Poison Strike).

Poison Strike works when the player is in the face of the enemy (which my build focuses on). Poison Strike also has invulnerability frame when initiating the ability and shortly thereafter.

Hurricane is reserved to deal with shields and barriers of bosses.

I read this a couple times. It's constructive. I appreciate it. Thanks for the input.

You're right, I'm pretty awful at first impressions. My sense of humor is pretty odd too. I found the idea of a first time poster kicking it the door like he owned the place saying, "tsup dillweeds" funny. I didn't think of how that might take away from my message. So, I gave myself an uphill battle there.

Glad you liked the guide. Really glad to find so many fellow farscape fans around here.

About three or four months ago I was practicing a melee cabal and experimenting with poison strike. Could have been me.

Weird. I've had plenty of buggy gameplay, but I've never been unable to even walk around.

Wow, that looks interesting! I didn't realize that much DOT was possible! Skipping melee horrifies me, but I think I could see how this might work. You're still tanky, but having to only deal with one cooldown is nice.

You're right poison strike works better on enemies in front, but it can still hit enemies behind you.. They have to be very close behind you. It's a circle, like in my video's illustrations, but the center of the circle is about a step or two in front of you. So it hits farther in front of you than behind you. Plus aiming is easier when you're looking at them.

I'm bookmarking this, thanks!

Sounds like a PC issue. Never seen or heard of this happening on PS3.

Maybe you should come to the Pleasantly Superior 3 race, Permanantly Cheating race can't be any fun ;)

Also, people who don't like Farscape make me sad, but those that don't, usually like things I have no tolerance for, so it just proves the diversity of diversions.

Well, there's your problem right there.

This is BSN Multiplayer. Now, we may not get apoplectic over the paucity of transgender robot romances in the single player game, and we may not spend a lot of time demanding that boobs be indiscernible on female characters in order topple the dominant patriarchy, but that doesnt mean we're completely stable.

This is the section of BSN where people don't care about the scoreboard but become incensed at attempts to outscore them. Friendships can be shattered here over whether the Wraith or the Claymore is the better shotgun. Geektosterone saturates these forums, and anyone saying, "You're doing it wrong," better have a geek-resistant umbrella open and properly positioned to catch the torrent.

Get thee to the Thunderdome, babby.

That's totally legit !  :P

Lol, I'm not mad or anything. :)  Maybe 'dissatisfied' is a better word than frustrated. Whatever you want to call it, it's a discontent with the public perception of the cabal and a desire to improve that. It's what drove me to learn video editing and join the community, so it's probably a good thing.

Haha!

First, the claymore is obviously superior. Second, my skin's probably thick enough. If it's not, then I go back to being a wallflower. I've only invested 24 hours here, I wouldn't be out much.

Let's talk less about the topic title and how new I am. Let's talk more about the cabal. Only a few posts have actually been about the ideas in the video.

For example, I think that the developers usually have a plan(s) in place for how a class will work. Some classes, like with the fury or destroyer are evidence of this. Other classes, like the quarksman or the turian sabateur seem like failed experiments to me. Do you agree? Which category would the cabal fit into?

The short poison strike with double dash can theoretically detonate 4 powers in as many seconds. Could the cabal be a better detonator than the human vanguard?

Has anyone done any experimentation or looked under the hood at the movement? I mentioned that the blink seems to be buggier on uneven surfaces. Any ideas why? Banshees also have trouble with uneven ground. Is there a connection?

Several people have said this is an old idea, but only one person posted a link, and that was great. Know of any others? Something using short double dash heavily with a melee build emphasizing wall-hackery and rapid hit & run movement? I don't really care if I'm first or not. I'm curious about other people's processes and ideas and I haven't been able to find a lot of good info.

Clicked on Build link. Saw Wraith and closed immediately. Everything else doesn't matter.

You guys have serious issues.  <_<
