It's hard to narrow too much down out of the cloud of unknowns. But there's going to be brand new shiny Mass Effect, and I suspect I will enjoy the hell out of that. Especially since I thought I was out of new Mass Effect after Citadel DLC dropped. It's nice to be wrong.

The story. That's the reason I play RPGs primarily.

DAI had a disappointing plot but MEA is basically a reboot so we can hope for the best.

I'm certainly eager to devote hours of my life to it. ;) I'm ready to move on from the old series which I loved and find new things to love in Andromeda. I don't really have any expectations, but I've enjoyed every Bioware game I've played, so I'm not worried. I'm more than willing to give MEA a chance. :D :wizard:

Right now I'm pretty content with what little information we have because, like others have stated, I'd rather see it all for myself when I play. Knowing too much beforehand spoils the adventure! :)

I haven't seen anything yet that warrants excitement on my part.  I've heard some things I like, for example that we'll get the Mako back. And there's things I can definitely do without, like getting saddled with family again, ugh. Wait and see for me... my Steam library is full of good games already, and I have only so much time.

Nothing is confirmed except the name.

We had footage of DAI and the released game was very different. They might cut the asari and everything else we've seen.

I honestly don't know enough about all the new info to form an opinion either way. Honestly, the thing I'm excited about the most is that ME:A will have a character creator for either gender and a certain number of classes to play in a SP campaign, something that is becoming rare in gaming.

Definitely looking forward to seeing what they can do with the Frostbite Engine, especially now that they don't have to support older consoles. The facial animations being the biggest improvement I've seen. That alone will really help the cinematic conversations. They're also bringing in crowd tech from PGA Tour (and Need for Speed devs to work on the Mako handling).

And with all of Jos' talk about moar banter, I really do hope we get more than we had in DAI.

Past tense now man. But yeah it looks great.

I guess the fact that it's a Mass Effect game with a whole new protagonist and central cast.

What I like so far is that the reapers are gone.

What I hope for are less plot holes once we arrive in Andromeda. ;)

I am curious about how the game turns out.

Hu?

How's that exactly?

In hindsight, nothing.  I was referring to the rumored cut content because of the release on PS3 and Xbox 360 wich has nothing to do with the engine.

Fixed.

That certainly does make more sense than calling it an Asari.

Mako.

You too? :(

I have a theory that the people who loved the Mako in ME1 are the people who love exploration and never felt driving around a planet was 'down' time. There appears to be a growing divide on the BSN over this because of DA:I but so far in almost every franchise that has had this issue the trend seems to go in the direction of open world exploration. Which for people who like this activity is great for people who hate it is sucks. I don't think a studio can "win" this in that remove it and you anger the people who enjoy it and keep it in or expand it and you anger the people who feel it is down time of filler content.

Personally I loved just driving the Mako.

Well, I like exploration... just not here so far. I'm more into sandboxes.

I think their little side missions were great though. The ones that bring you on to the planet surfaces. Like Helena Blake, Major Kyle, Nassana, etc.. Not that I like the missions, but I like the personalities involved. So I still get some use out of the Mako, I guess.

I like exploration as a storytelling device, but the actual act of driving around mostly-empty - or, if they follow the DA: I model, chock full, but with fairly repetitive side-activities with no significant story component - planets doesn't sound so appealing. Ultimately, whether I enjoy that aspect of the game or not will come down entirely to how much of the former there is as contrasted with the latter. If they pepper those big, open planets with stories that engage me - quests with actual characters, and better uses of environmental storytelling, with some sort of significant interactive component - then I won't mind the collectable filler-y stuff so much. If I'm left feeling that it's basically all filler, on the other hand, I just won't have any motivation to explore.

1. Frostbite.

  • Exploring beautiful worlds and hopefully seeings some bizarre/alien scenes.
  • Seeing how the Milky Way species look with the new graphics, and meeting the Andromedan ones.
  • Character creation. Particularly having the chance to make an actual good-looking male character. No more Potato Shepard!

2. Ships

  • The Ark looks interesting, and I'm very eager to explore it. Especially if that Citadel-style concept art is for the Ark. I love exploring huge hubs.
  • I can't wait to get the Tempest either. See how it's different to the Normandy, grow to love it, and hopefully customise it! The idea of decorating it with pictures is fun. Adds some characterisation to Ryder too.

3. Characters

  • Obviously, we're going to have squadmates and crewmates again, so I'm looking forward to meeting them, experiencing their dialogue and (where relevant) romances.
  • I like everything I've heard about Ryder so far: not as seasoned as Shep, not a soldier, family plays a role. I'd like to look at Mass Effect through fresh eyes. All my previous experiences were obviously coloured by Shepard's perspective. I'm kind of hoping they can be a little dorky. More intellectual. Mostly I want my Engineer to feel a bit more like one.
  • "The N7". Family was one of my favourite aspects to DA2, even though the game was underdeveloped and rushed. It really helped give Hawke more depth and motivation. Hopefully our mysterious family member takes inspiration from DA2's model (and improves on it), rather than something like Fallout 4. I'm hoping he(/she?) plays a big role, somehow.

Have you met the social worker on Omega? :P

On topic: Memorable villains, because great characters are confirmed by default. :)

Probably the more close to heart approach, just like DA 2 but this time, done with a more flare and content.

social worker Helena? Yeah.. I don't exactly prefer it though.

It'd be nice if she did change, but I don't see any reason to disband her group. She's just into gambling and weapons smuggling. Not so bad! Not by ME standards at least.

Not sure what made the change, but in one version she insists she is a social worker and in another she works for Aria. ;)
