So, I'm in the midst of yet another play through and a mystery visitor showed up in my undercroft.

This visitor is an elderly looking, gray haired female elf. I'm unable to communicate with her, and she moves about the area at random. This is the first time she's appeared.

I've googled this phenomena, but no one seems to have an answer as to why she appeared.

Is this a bug, or does her appearance portend some nefarious event? Does anyone know her name? :D

Pic of her please? Could be she's simply one of the random npcs in Skyhold that tend to move around a lot. But if she is in the Undercroft then that's weird...usually only harritt and dagna are there.

You can see the blacksmith and Dagna in the background. And, yes, the expression on my character's face is "WTF."

She's just one of those npc's that roams Skyhold. I see her most often in the library close to the research table and have heard she sometimes pops up in the undercroft. Don't know if her showing up there is a bug or working as intended.

@lynroy ...

Thank you for responding. Struck me as odd because I spend a lot of time crafting and I'd never seen her before. I also don't recall ever having seen her in the Library (or anywhere else), but I'm stupit, so that means very little :D

It's the alternate Inquisitor, come back from the grave to stand around and judge the one that survived.

Did you recently take an unusual Perk, like the researcher one?

No, I didn't select an unusual perk. As for perks, I tend to be a creature of habit: I get the two inventory perks, then the one that adds the 3rd potion to the toolbar. I do this every time, without exception.

The only thing I did out of the ordinary was leap off the balcony, in the undercroft, during one of those perpetual moments of goofiness. Almost immediately, I detected the mystery elf. Notwithstanding, I don't think that caused her appearance.

Updated: When I logged into the game seconds ago, the mystery elf spawned in the undercroft beside my inquisitor. The blacksmith and Dagna spawned in exactly the same spots as when I logged out. The fact the mystery elf spawns differently than a typical NPC is interesting. It's almost as if she's a legacy remnant from earlier code development and/or testing.

I've had the same thing happen. I took a screen shot and it's the same elf woman. I'm pretty sure she's one of the random people who talks to Josephine, but she just spawned in the wrong place. She said two lines of dialogue, and there a was a pause between each line as if she was waiting for someone to respond. I was also jumping around on the edge of the balcony just before she spawned, though I didn't fall off. Definitely a bug.

Probably one of Solas's spies.  Or a Qunari spy.  Pretty much all of the elves wandering around Skyhold are suspect based on Trespasser.

Yeah, the old hag moves around a lot.. To bad we can't talk to her. I figure she's a refugee that fled to Skyhold.

As far as Qunari spies we already have one his name is Iron Bull. I still question myself why I would recruit a Qunari in the first place let alone a jumping spy. My warden would slap my Inquisitor for doing such a stupid trick.

I know that when my characters fall through the floor in Solas room and manage to force their way into the Undercroft there is sometimes a  random NPC hanging around in there. Maybe the game got confused and thought you weren't in the Undercroft anymore so it could spawn someone near your character?

Have you tried leaving the Undercroft via the door and going in again?

She's not a very good spy if she is so obvious in some games although, if she is in my game, she's doing a good job of spying because I've never seen her.  :) I've never seen her talking to Jose either and I always run over to ease drop on those conversations.

She's Lavellan's grandma?

Or, if Lavellan did In Hushed Whispers, might be her granddaughter. Because, time travel.

I'm just going to assume Solas is the culprit. She's been sent back in time to keep an eye on her grandpa, only her cataracts make it difficult and he escapes. *shakes fist*
