ME3 MP has a cornucopia of characters (60 I believe), classes (6) and Powers (ie: Biotic, Tech, Combat, Ammo, etc). The Biotic Power itself has 13 sub-powers distributed among the different characters of that class (ie: barrier, lift, charge, nova, pull, reave, warp... etc). Other Powers also have subcategories, which are also distributed as above and which I won't get into.

The point, here, is that Andromeda MP will have fewer characters to start with. In turn,  the number of potential classes, powers and sub-powers is also reduced (see DA:I slim pickings).

Bio may have no choice but to design combat with the available characters in Andromeda. Like DA:I, classes and powers will be reduced to a number way below to what we are used to.  For example: If we take the current Classes, Powers(in ME3MP) and divide them by the characters we currently know are in the game, the distribution is insane.  So, everything must be reduced to a "reasonable level". But, to what?  View it against what Bio and the "Leaks info" talk about... Horde mode or bringing three friends with you or use AI characters. I anticipate that weapon selection will also be reduced.

So, my feeling is that combat will be "down leveled" similar to what Bio did with DA:I. And, the question is:

What will MP look like/ feel like to you as a player, if we go against human pirates? What are their classes? Will they have Guardians, Centurions, Phantoms, Nemesis...etc? Same with the Khet. Will MP provide the full character ensemble found in the SP game at the start of the game? Will MP characters reveal themselves as we progress through the game?

Will MP be fun?

It's Mass Effect Andromeda MP. Yes it will be fun. It's isn't dragon age and nothing is set in stone.

Let us hope.

The diversity in ME3MP is one of it's most enjoyable aspects for me, I hope this carries over.

If not from the outset as outlined by the OP, then via DLC. (free of course)

Keep in mind that the 60 characters and many of the unique powers were issued out throughout the first year of ME3MP so a lot of that stuff was not in the game at launch so it's rather unfair to compare an unreleased MP mode we know nothing about to an MP mode after all the fine tuning and add-ons have been put in place.

Yeah, but it will boil down to how well Andromeda's MP is supported.

I for one do NOT want to see a repeat of DAMP's handling of things. Practically a year before anything substantial comes out (and no, that 'on fire' map re-skin, and the animal foes don't count), and then all we get is one piece of content before support is dropped altogether. I would like to see a steady stream of support, as well as new, unique classes/kits, not the same exact model with a spattering of similar powers.

Since the OP is on the topic of MP and how it will be compared to earlier BioWare attempts, I would like to see the various selections in the roster, be more akin to the stoic, to-the-point characters as opposed to the "please for the love of God, shut up already!" 'characters' that we got in DAMP as well.

How else will Bioware get chumps to buy the silver, gold, and platinum upgrade packages for 5/10/15$? <_<

It'll probably be fun.  Especially if they manage to incorporate some semblence of a story into the gameplay.  I thought ME3MP was pretty good given the redundant waves and lack of story, and I normally hate MP.  Unfortunately, without the story I got bored way too quick.  Hopefully, they figure out a way to make it more interesting this time around...'cause I'd really like to have a reason to continue to play.

Biotics is the direct manipulation of gravity, right?

So we'd have 64 players flinging each other around a room whilst claiming the enemy is some kind of homosexual, and that they'd had sex with the enemies' mother.

I want it.

If the new game's MP is as fun as ME3's was at launch (or more so!), I'm sure it will do fine.

As long as power damage doesn't have anything to do with base weapon damage.

I think it will be fun, as much fun as ME3MP?  Wait and see.  I think that they're trying everything they can to make it more fun, more engaging.

As long as it's more like ME3MP and not DAMP it's alright in my books.

That is true. But, the gist of my post is that we are used to 60 characters and available powers.  ME:A can only start at the bottom. DA:I, as an example, is very limited and meh. I anticipate a similar reaction to "where's the beef"?

Perhaps. But, I figure you can have more fun with 100 Lego pieces than with 10.

ME3MP launched at the end of the trilogy.

How, precisely, does this mean that MEA MP will have fewer playable characters/classes at launch than ME3MP did?  I cannot follow your logic at all.

I think what he means is that they will add them over time, like they did with ME3MP?

At least I hope.

ME3's multiplayer started off pretty bare bones and had updates as the year went on.

I wouldn't worry too much about content, if it's anywhere near the same level as ME3, it'll see a great deal of expansions.

I don't think so.  He seems to be saying that the MEAMP will start off with fewer characters than ME3 started off with.

ThinK!

With fewer character you have fewer of everything.

Think.

ME3MP has 60 characters and for biotics, 13 powers. How are they going to be distributed with 7 squad characters. We know, from the Behind the Scences video that both the Krogan and protag carry weapons... that leaves 5 Squad Mates to pick up just the 13 biotic powers. I'm sure you will agree that the seven Squad mates will use a number of different classes. There is no way that all 13 biotic powers will be used.

ME3MP is fully fleshed out. ME:A  is not.

My belief is that Bio will pull a DA:I combat reduction on us. The game designer(s) have no other choice. And, that's why Bio is keeping their trap shut.

Meh, if you're correct, so what?  Plus, who's going to say that all seven of those characters are biotics?  I know that I sure as dog snot enjoyed playing those characters in ME3MP, and those have two, maybe three, powers at most.

That is to say that if I'm reading this correctly.  You seem to be arguing with yourself there.  First off, you argue that there aren't enough, and then you argue that there are too many?
