Actually I have only the main game,

my focus are the game mechanics, should i buy the Tresspasser or any other dlc to get more out of the ability System ?

Is there a real difference in optimal character builds with the Tresspasser dlc ?

Thanks

Trespasser is an amazing DLC so I would buy it personally. The game of the year is worth the money.

It does make a difference in levelong also as you get access to different traits to pick from.

Party comp all depends in your playable. You want best Min max? You kind using tac cam a lot? Want easy leave it alone people?

How good are you at running a rogue?

My opinion is Blackwell, Vivienne, Cole rogue assassin archer, and you as another dual dagger assassin.

2 mark of deaths with different people will wreck any high level boss or if you have promoted people same thing.

Vivienne lives long and for barriers and stripping defense

Blackwell never dies with proper setup.

That's a super short intro.

Trespasser is very much worth it just for the skill toggles. Gameplay is better by far and the golden nug makes replay more enjoyable as you don't have to hunt down schematics.

For tanks I prefer Cassandra on higher difficulties and 'Walk Softly' trial. I say this because the extra CC really helps (especially in JoH). Blackwall is "ok" but his durability doesn't equal the extra dispel and AOE stun of a Templar. Really Blackwall is best for a boss fight.

Any Mage can be support and with Trespasser plenty of CC options. Without Trespasser a Rift Mage is hard to beat in terms of CC.

If playing nightmare or new to the game I'd recommend avoiding melee DPS. Use a rogue archer.

Yes, but it is relatively minor and you can live without it. Jaws of Hakkon DLC introduces a new focus ability (ultimate) called Aegis of the Rift. It also includes some Tier 4 mats that are pretty good and available only from that map. Again, not essential. Not on the order of Trespasser -- the game mechanics are incomplete without Trespasser.

My party composition is almost always 1 tank warrior, 1 archer, 2 mages. Who exactly I pick has to do with specializations (I'll take a Templar over a Champion or Reaver most of the time) and with banter, relative to my IQ.

And which Abilities should i prefer ?

For yourself or your companions?  With Trespasser or without?  What difficulty level?  Do you intend to use trials?  We could go on and on answering that question, filling up pages in this thread.  I'll give some brief tips, but by no means is sufficient given I have no idea what you want to play.

Take a look at Matt's pre-skyhold builds.  The first page pre-dates Trespasser, but it's not too bad.   Some skills have new names.

Also dragoninquisition.com/ has some nice builds for early game play.

I would recommend being the rogue (and yes I am completely bias in this recommendation). The AI can comfortably handle both tanking and crowd control. The one place it lacks however, is in using its abilities effectively to focus purely on dealing as much damage as possible. (Not to mention rogues are the most fun class to play due to their flexibility in switching from ranged to melee damage.)

Absolutely agree with Bigdawg. There are many threads in this very forum that present different approaches to the same spec. There's at least three ways to go with a Necromancer, for example. So give some more info, like what you are trying to optimize, and we can help better.

It would still be good to know your class.  Regardless, take a look at Matt's pre-skyhold builds to see what to do.  If you want I can copy/paste it for you.

Also, what exactly is it you are looking for? Complete builds for all characters in a recommended party? Or just key abilities?

Hard to recommend a party if we don't know what class your IQ is, like Bigdawg said. But I'll do a model and you can swap in whatever one you are:

Warrior Tank: Cassandra

Archer: Sera

Mage 1: Dorian

Mage 2: Solas

Whichever class you are, replace yourself with whatever role is listed above. If you replace Mage 2, it might be better to swap Iron Bull for Cassandra, for the sake of banter. IB + Sera + Dorian is some of the best banter in the game. Arguably, though, for game mechanics, I think Cassandra is better as a tank.

Okay, so look at this link, under section Rogues, and open the Spoiler for Archer:

http://forum.bioware...skyhold-builds/

FWIW, I actually use a different priority for Archer skills than listed in that link:

  1. Long Shot
  2. First Blood
  3. Explosive Arrow
  4. Pincushion
  5. Death from Above
  6. Leaping Shot

This is because I want Pincushion as soon as possible, to help with auto-attack damage, and I want Leaping Shot as soon as possible. I don't spend any points in any other tree until those 6 are spent.

Then where I go from there depends. If I'm going to do Champions of the Just, the Evade skill in Subterfuge is a must, so I'll take Stealth also. Then do Sabotage, see next.

If I'm not doing CotJ or immediatley after CotJ, I usually spend points in Sabotage: Caltrops, Looked Like It Hurt, Cheap Shot, Throwing Blades, upgraded to Precision Targeting. Because Looked Like It Hurt is essential for any rogue build (reasons should be obvious from description, but if not, ask in a reply), and upgraded Throwing Blades is one of the most effective damage dealing skills in the whole game.

Note that Leaping Shot + Critical Chance% buffs fuel Looked Like It Hurt, which is why I want Leaping Shot before Full Draw.

I'd do this for the archer.

http://dragoninquisi...uild_Early_Game

Spoiler

I'd take Cassandra or Blackwall for tank.  Give them upgraded Warcry (+armor), payback strike, shield wall, and grappling chain.  Maybe later go down to combat roll.  Set both warcry and combat roll to preferred.

Since you are a rogue, take 2 mages with you.  I'd bring Solas and Vivienne.  Spec Solas as support mage.  Get barrier, both passives below it, dispel, winter's grasp, the mana regen passive just below winter's grasp, and ice mine.  For Vivienne, I'd dig down and get Firemine ASAP.  Get barrier and both passives below that for her as well.

I have two questions, my inventory is full of valuables which of them shouldn't I sell ?

And second, how relevant is it to optimise my equipment ? likee , are there any stats or item combinations i should prefer or is this more secondary ?

I have recently got the skyhold.

You can sell everything in the valuables tab.  Once upon a time you had to be careful to not sell research items, but I think they fixed that.  They really should have called the valuables tab the "junk" tab.  In fact, you can send an item to the valuables tab once you deem it unimportant and plan to sell it.

As for optimizing stats...  If you are playing on normal or casual, I don't think it matters much.

Sigh. You ask a lot of one-line questions that require several pages to explain adequately. You're just going to have to read a few more threads in this forum where these things are discussed. We can't play the game for you.

Once you have your standard party and swaps fully equipped (every weapon, armor, helmet and accessory slot filled), start selling excess stuff. Sell gear the moment it is no longer useful. In general, any weapon, armor, upgrade or accessory that is worse than what your team already has should be sold. By "worse" I mean base value (base damage, base armor, stats, base buff -- ignore DPS value for weapons!) are lower than what you and your companions already have equipped. This is because you will have a lot of excess stuff and, since crafting is generally more valuable than looted stuff, gold is more valuable than looted stuff, since you can use gold to buy mats and schematics.

Anything that is over-leveled, like, has a level restriction of 9 and you are 7 or lower, and is worth saving, like a high stat unique armor, put into Storage (in the Undercroft). Anything that is purple (Unique) might be worth keeping, but you out grow a lot purple stuff quickly. Usually the stuff that is over-leveled is the stuff you need now.

Don't sell crafting mats. Maybe later in the game if you have 199 Iron, you could sell that if you are hard up for cash, but I basically don't sell crafting materials unless I specifically farmed them for gold.

Of course there are combinations of gear that are more advantageous than others. There are entire threads about a single accessory or a single min/max goal. Your question is too broad to answer. And like Bigdawg said, pretty much a waste of time unless you are doing Nightmare difficulty. Okay, Hard too, but really only for boss fights in that case.
