What is the fascination with the neon glow? It was horrible in Dragon age Inquisition and I fear it's making it way into Mass Effect Andromeda!

Mass-Effect-Andromeda-015.jpg

I mean bright orange lava really? everything looks slick and cool almost believable and then some executive's kid come in with hyper color crayons? common man, yes neon aliens would be cool if context was right and they lived on the dark-side of a planet or a nocturnal species etc... but ohh we need more color for the sake of it, please it looks ****!

Insider leaks describes the main alien race as skeletal with GLOWING EYES and another as Stone/metal golems with bright glowing lines all over them (sounds like the picture above)

I just hope we can absorb the neon as an energy source to fuel our powers.

Yeah, bioluminescence is completely unrealistic.

I like aesthetic, just in context, can you imagine a Apex predator dressed like a peacock?

"hey prey here i am and i'm fabulous", "yeah we know we seen you coming".

I'm not saying don't have peacocks in the game.

The glow makes sense for creatures living in the dark - glowworms or deep sea fish for example. The film Outlander made good use of a luminescent alien.

Maybe the bright lights make the prey animals think it's a rave and they all let their guard down.

Not sure if satire or serious. Either way, it's funny how hard researching is these days.

Is, exactly, what most marine life with bioluminescence, do. To attract food, mates (like Lightning Bugs), or a warning. Try watching a nature channel, instead of ordering XXX or Skinemax. It's shocking what you'll learn.

As for the Red Templars, it's red lyrium veins. Lyrium glows. Just like real veins, it's moving red lyrium (blood) to all parts of the body.

I agree with OP. Glowing should make sense biologically in a sci fi setting. In a fantasy setting it usually makes sense in terms of an at least vague reference to alchemy and elementals. In the latter case the aesthetic effect should be fused with the knowedge, since that was the unconscious assumption of pre-modern science. If sci fi creatures glow this needs to make sense in terms of our current scientific knowledge or at least not contradict it.

Oh really. And how many of you people are there? What's next? Make space travel and biotics more realistic? Give me a break.

Lol, you come in here trolling around then ask us to give you a break? ahh the irony, the question should be how many people are there like you and the answer is = plenty. :-(

There's also mention of Lightning Bugs (Fireflyies) They use bioluminescence in the same way. So who's to say this creature isn't from a planet that has 30 days and 30 nights? I'd have to find a way to get prey during dark periods.

It  is only me , or does that thing not look anything as metal/stone and more as a melted flesh? For all we know (not much) it may just be a mutated alien or a failed experiment.

And glowing eyes don't necessary mean neon light.

Personal note: I don't know why I made this comment since everybody already has made it a sport of hating (dislike if you don't like strong words) something in ME:A before we even have seen anything.

For those that are playing the bioluminescence card,  why are the clothes glowing in the OP?
