Soes, lets say someone that hasn't played any or very little Mass Effect wants to get into ME3MP.
How would you go about training them?

By not giving them an i-phone with the pokemon game. Stupid azz kids were trying to find a gods-be-damned pokemon in my backyard last night.
GET OFF MY LAWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My serious answer...if they are skipping parts 1 & 2 entirely..... and they want to jump right into MP .... are they also skipping the SP campaign for part 3? My advice..let them play the single player campaign first..at least up to a point to where they have the games basic components down...then walk them thru several bronze games as you are explaining the enemy types..and how the enemy's health / shields barriers function..............................
or you could just be a dik and preset it to geth / condor / platinum.

You should have thrown eggs at them.
The beginnings of the SP campaign will help them figure out controls/game mechanics without immediately getting them killed. Once they learn the absolute basics, they can try SP combat in real time, which shouldn't be too hard if they have experience with other shooters, and then they should be good for bronze. There's no friendly fire and the objectives are pretty straightforward. Past that I think it's fairly easy to explain things to them along the way, e.g. don't camp at the LZ, avoid sync kills, prioritize mooks over bosses, etc.
Conversely, you could just throw them immediately into MP matches and hope that the need to survive will motivate them to learn quickly. ![]()
I would ask them to equip the shuriken and then take them to platinum collectors and after wave one, I'd peel them off the ground and yell

What's wrought in fire wouldn't fade in the sun..
Edit: Combo Breaker!!!!!
Lets assume they don't want to play SP at all.
Every little kid these days have an iPhone or an ipad, it's insane. Even my 3 year old nephew has an ipad and knows how to upload videos to youtube lol.By not giving them an i-phone with the pokemon game. Stupid azz kids were trying to find a gods-be-damned pokemon in my backyard last night.

unless the eggs are rancid, that I can forgive.
Tell them to equip Javelin, Claymore and Spitfire and run around Vancouver five times.
First I'd encourage them to get an account on Bioware Forums, and make a bunch of threads asking for help. Those players always end up being really good.
First test: complete three circles around Vancouver with a goon in pursuit, without getting killed.
Test number two: make it through a geth match without going berserk and nuking the everlovin' **** out of every toaster in ten mile radius.
Test number three: show your manliness(even if your a woman) by not getting downed by a swarmer a single time in a Reaper game.
Test number four:complete a Collecturd match without asking yourself, how the eff can those effin captains do so much damage with a weapon as shitty as CAR?
You managed to do all of those? Congratulations, you are now ready for Silver.

But...but there was a Dragonite there!
Have them get off their arse, finish the campaign, THEN have them play the Multiplayer, because why the hell did they ever get into ME in the first place if they're not going to take both at face value?
I actually did this with one of my RL friends. ME3MP got his interest when he saw me check my mobile phone on Friday´s night out sessions with my pals to search the briefing for the weekend ops in the first year
.
We´d been playing lots of sports and racing games over the years, but he had never played shooters, so we had to start from scratch. We did this by playing bronze duos together, with me as the bodyguard to shoot stuff that was flanking him, doing the objectives and giving some general advice on spawns, RHA and so on.
First thing was to find a keyboard layout that would allow him to move around fluently. Let´s just say that was the tedious part of it
. Once that was done, we played it as a straight up shooter for some games and then went through the powers and their effects with the base human classes using builds I suggested. Then on to combos and some of the more arcane mechanics of what to do against which type of opponent. After around 30 of these we went on to to Silver duos and did that for a while as he started playing bronze PUGs on his own.
By then the hook was set and he´s now clocked more hours than me in this game since then without ever touching SP. That was my retaliation for him getting me into Trackmania online racing, which occupied a lot of my PC time between 2006 and 2012
.
I'd say the standard ME3-Keyboard-Konfiguration works well enough for anyone remotely familiar with Action-RPGs or FPSs, so they're good with that.
Maybe I'd begin with opening a private Bronze game against Geth, tell them to stay in LZ and kill all enemies bar one. Then you could let them become familiar with things like dodge-rolls, going into soft/hard cover and so on without much interference from enemies. Objectives can be explained on the fly as they appear. Then definitely play a ton of bronze games until they start feeling comfortable. And don't forget telling them how to get the most out of the store with their credits.
Watching guide videos for the standard human kits helps as well (at least that's what helped me the most) - I personally do very much enjoy the Youtube-Guides made by funkZhun/bwnci...but that's only personal preference of course.
Let them play each human kit a few times, after that they should be able to say which one they liked best - then I'd let them focus on those for quite some time...I think it's better when they know just a few kits really well, instead of playing many different kits rather mediocre all at once.
Have them play Turians, because Turians will help them be Good.
