The point is, you are a "Heretic" if you don't believe in the "correct" god. Doesn't matter if you believe in another god, or simply don't believe.

That said, some religious fanatics find particular sects of faith especially hateful.

(a recent example is Daesh, while they enjoy killing heretics of all kind, they took particular delight in killing members of certain religious sects)

But they consider their victims as "infidels" too. They have another category for Christians ("heretics" as we would say). They don't kill them at first, if the Christian pays a jizya tax. More than likely, it amounts to death though.

The infidels to them are the Yazidi especially. The Yazidi have a belief in a "peacock" angel figure, whom they consider good. ISIS kills them because they think it's Satan worship.

We're really getting into bad material for a thread though, aren't we? I'll stop for now.  ;)

Infidel, heretic, "kafir", are mostly the same word. But I agree with the rest.

Oh, I expect our "new alien" LI will be from the Helius cluster. It's Bio's intro to the locals. From an optimized romance mix options, they will be bisexual or like the Asari.

The problem with deeper is that someone will screem they as a group are not represented. Pardon me but every deviation of the norm wants their cut so yes the butter on the bread has become very thin indeed.

Is that Bioware's fault, I see it is more as the silly times we live in of unrestrained mandatory diversity.

It was the Pandora's Box they opened when they built into the idea of Romancing in their games. And now it has gotten out of control if there is a minority of some sort out there in the world, you can bet someone will clamor for their inclusion. I'm not saying inclusion is wrong, but when people want to take it to the level that they so desire and describe in their Forum post, will start to see some deviation away from the actual game and story plot until it might as well toss out the rest of the game and turn it into one of those Japanese visual novel games that are always a constant over there. Now if it were up to me there would be no romance at all in the game, but that isn't the world we live in so I agree with fewer but more in depth romances in future games. It's cuts away the clutter and allows for more meat to be put into the game.

I'm almost with you, but I think it's cool to have it around to give the character some kind of social life. It doesn't need to be a big feature though.

If you think it's cool, then what part of his completely anti-romance position are you "almost with"?

Killdren's position isn't completely anti-romance.

He said he would remove the romances ideally, but given the expectations people have for romances in Bioware games, he would opt for fewer but more in-depth romances.

That it isn't important. I just don't think it needs to be stripped. It's fine the way it is.

That's fair. I'm all for our character plus our companions having a social life. Personally I love the fact that Tali and Garrus hook up. As a result I've never romanced neither of them, because in my opinion, work well together. When I first played 3, and walked in on them together, I laughed and somewhat gushed. At the time I was planning a female run and giving Garrus a go, but after that, I decided against it. They are now and always canon in my play through. Not to mention the concept of a Uncle Garrus and a Auntie Tali was too great to ignore

Then you and I have wildly different ideas of what it takes to be opposed to something. That he would remove the romance content in his ideal scenario, is more than enough to qualify his sentiments as anti-romance.

Wait, what isn't important?

Romance itself. It's just a side feature. But there's enough value to add to your character's story. So I don't want it gone.

How would you describe your method to measure the distinction between something being important, versus it having value?

Why are you interrogating me now?

Let me start over. I don't want  focused romances. I'd rather have many, and people could just find some hook in a particular character that works for their own story. I don't want tons of content and things tied to main plot. I just want more of the same. I'm not trying to be complicated here.

Because I see a pattern that puzzles me. I've seen you claim agreement with Kildren numerous times, and he rarely misses a chance to express both his disdain for romances and those who enjoy them. Yet when you elaborate your position, like now, you invariably support their existence.

It seems contradictory to me, so occasionally I try to clarify what it is you enjoy about his position so much.

I've agreed with him multiple times? I don't even remember that. That's the first time I've seen him post here.

I had no idea he was so "anti-romance". I was just taking his post above at face value. The main thing I agree with is it isn't important. But I told him I'd still like the features in. And I've been saying it.

edit: More to the point, I already agree with how Bioware sees it. As a smallish feature. What I don't care for is the constant talk or wanting it to be a bigger feature.

Bioware games being half as good as a visual novel like Steins;Gate in terms of plot and romance would actually be an improvement.

I think, if Andromeda is plotted out intending to be a trilogy, they can make deeper, more complex, romances.

The sort of thing The Forces Awakens spectacularly failed at.

What do you refer to? If it is Finn, and Rey. I think they said they planned to keep them just friends. I recall a interview some time back saying that the Romance wasn't going where we all thought it would be.

Assuming that they might be cousins...ew.....if not....eh, if they could make it work without it being stupid or damaging to the plot ,then meh.

I wouldn't know. I don't play those types of games...though I'm unsure you could even call it a game if you are just reading text and clicking a dialogue option every now and then and watching a still image change.

Well, I did refer to it as a "visual novel" and not a game. I never actually played the VN, but i did see the Anime based on it, which was not only pretty nice but had romance be a key part of the central plot(which revolves around limited time travel and alternate timelines). The key difference in the romance aspect between the VN and the anime though, is that the protag  in the former can choose to end up with one of the other girls instead, and from my understanding of it, it's still connected/involved with the plot.

So in ME1 I had 1.5 romance options.  In ME2 it was 3.  In ME3 it was between 0.5 and 2.5 depending on previous decisions.  DAO and DAI it was 2.

I guess they could just go with one or zero since it isn't a romance simulator.

I'm not trying to be facetious, but what exactly does 'in-depth' romances mean?
