I just want to see a more dynamic approval system in a Mass Effect game, where your PC is not free to just do anything while enjoying immunity from it affecting their companions' dispositions. Like, if I chose to snuff out the population of Snorks from Snorkland to make room for a desalinization plant, and a particular LI just can't sit well with that, it might be grounds for them to call it quits, rather than just commenting and then behaving like it never happened later.

I believe the Mass Effect team has pretty much confirmed through Mac Walters that they're going to be trying to avoid this not only for romances but companion relationships in general which I am so ecstatic for. I believe one of the words used was actually dynamic.

Oh, here is the interview information summarized by Fogg;
Relations will be more realistic, they will evolve more organic
•Romances will no longer be choosing the flirty dialogue options, which lead to a romance scene after a while
•This also applies to non-romantic relations with squadmates, they too are more dynamic

Well, OP, I see you like to dream in Technicolour.

Fewer romances? Nah! Bio has this LGBT X agenda (imo).

However, the studio did mention that the mechanics are changed. You probably need to be more persistent or "the fun is now in the chase".  For example: I can see the protag searching the Tempest to find their Paramour to be (many want the squad members to move about the ship). I much prefer the Wing Commander idea of finding the pilots in the ship's bar.

But remember that "Women might be able to fake orgasms. But men can fake a whole relationship". :P

I haven't romanced her, but I had heard she had very little content and many were disappointed by it.  It's a shame they couldn't give all romances the same amount of scenes, from what I've heard Cullen and Cass got more attention.

Whoever told you that is mistaken. Josephine's romance has more screentime than some of the others, and even the poster romance for DAI. For example she has more than Cassandra. The only scene her romance doesn't have is a sex scene, which I figure is what many who complain about it are complaining about.

One of my main complaints about the ME series, is that Shepard can just do whatever without any companions criticizing/being massively upset. I will never understand how some of the paragon companions can romance a renegade Shepard.

I totally disagree. Romances shouldn't be the focus and therefore they shouldn't be developed in depth.  I prefer romances to be a nice fun side dish to just add some moments here and there, probably with a lot of variety so anyone can pick what they fancy and then move on. Not to mention I severely doubt any dev's ability to manage to write a deep, well-written romance with how game-ified character interactions are in a choice-based rpg where your choices and attributes are supposed to influence outcomes.

Unless there are fixed romances and the romance-narrative exists independently of players' choices. Which is something I have no interest in seeing in an rpg. If anything bioware should tone down the fixed-narratives and let people make choices to a greater extent.

Excuse me, but what exactly is a "LGBT agenda"? Like, I'm genuinely curious what certain people think is supposed to get accomplished by this? What would be the goal?

Anyway, I personally don't mind companions moving around the ship, provided the ship is not a maze. And I definitely support the idea that our actions should significantly affect our relationships. If my bf/gf is a pacifist and I just wiped out an entire species they should tell me to gtfo.

The Paragon dames love themselves a bad boy. He gives them the kind of excitement that no Paragonshep can.

And this is where in traditional rpgs the charisma stat and the dialogue checks came into play.

Not with how quickly Andromeda is coming out. Still, there will be a ME after it. One can dream.

I'd say it's less an issue of speed and more of an issue of direction. Still a nice dream.

Almost all RPGs really. Even Fallout is extensive here.

Tbh Fallout 4 is "you put points into charisma for dialog checks only or you give up on dialog checks entirely". Or you can just wear a dress and a stupid hat, that works too. Not exactly the best execution of the mechanic.

Oh give me a home, where the bighorners roam...

I consider Bioware to have been able to do this well and fine in the Dragon Age series

But in the situation presented - I'd give you an insane minus.

Charisma can't compensate for everything...

I prefer a Personality approach over a baseline "Charisma" approach for a story... I want the NPCs to have distinct goals and personalities and no matter how "likable" you are... if you're opposed to those goals and personality traits - that person shouldn't like you.

Concerning romances not being essential to the game... they're literally the only other thing to do than kill things in a Bioware game.  So I find them essential.  In any RPG that isn't traditionally considered "Hack n Slash" - a character isn't just building his body count.  That characters should be building a "life".  Bioware has yet to really give us this (and it is MUCH harder to do in cRPG than in real RPGs - but still the effort can be attempted).

As for quality over quantity - I think that sounds great on paper... but in practice, I think allowing headcanon to fill in the spaces of a series of diverse LIs is actually preferable to having one really deep romance to delve into.

Lastly - as for the LGBT agenda - sorry it gets in the way of the status quo.  I know change is scary and holding on to the safety of the familiar is preferable.  I suggest a nice glass of cognac and a cigar to get you through these trying times.

I wouldn't mind having just two bisexual options (One male and one female), but this will never be enough for this fanbase, since a lot of people want an option from each species in the galaxy and if they just put the two bisexual options I said it would probably be two humans (the safer option) , imagine the outrage  lol

An even more unpopular idea, make the romances "all bisexual", interesting characters who are willing to be just friends so not only can you role play whatever sex you want (as if your characters going to know the results of "other" characters), you can choose to be just friends with any and all of them, allowing for most sexual preferences to be satisfied. All BioWare needs to do now is step up the capabilities of the CC to allow transgender creation and *bam*, even [they] can be satisfied. In other words, they'll be twice the number of threads complaining about stuff.

Really?  I'm not bothered about the sex scene, they make me cringe most of the time anyway.  Good to know she has a decent amount of content.

Obviously the goal is to make all straight people gay duh /s. I've always wondered where these "bioware is controlled by LGBT movement" have been in the past 10 years of Bioware games?

Because we have different ideas of what a good game romance is and how to achieve that.

In principle I agree.

But I can't help but suspect that if Bioware cut romances from previous games, it would have been the coolest ones that would go. I mean, if we had one male romance from ME2 it would probably be Jacob. Solas was one of the lowest priority romances of DAI

Solas and Cullen were late additions, and they were super popular.

I'm glad I could help clarify that for you. I recommend you try it one time you play DAI. It's a really nice, sweet romance.  ^_^

I would in theory prefer two bisexual options that were tied to the plot. (imagine bisexual Bastila and Carth from KOTOR). But you take a much higher risk people will hate their option.  On the other hand, the ME2 romances were very short, Josie's romance was almost nonexistant, Cassandra might as well not have had one, and Dorian's is frontloaded. Could have used more depth.
