So this is the new "in" thing amongst kids these days? Wow....what will be the next thing, beat up your girl while having sex? It's pretty much around there anyway. In my days you'd be cool if you had a cigarette to share in school, now it's "I'm a Master and she's a slave" and the other kids are like "whoaawwww you're accepted in our club mate, you got your own slave".

How freaking ridiculous.

Maybe some people do that but a normal sub and dom relationship is just that an equal relationship nothing so over the top as what you yourself have described i hope that helps.

You don't think it's blown a bit over the top a bit these times? I mean, just because there's a movie about it everyone suddenly thinks it's cool. It used to be a private thing, an intimate thing but now it's something everyone just HAVE to do in order to be popular, at least amongst the kids. I think it takes some of the "special" parts away that way.

"AHHHHHHH, STAP DAT!" - All romanced Female Lavellans in the world

"YES!" - Canon Quizzie

I dunno about anyone else but I romanced Solas with my canon Inquisitor and I feel like the most fun I could possibly have saving Thedas is figuring out how to get Solas to agree to subbing in a BDSM scenario. It's win-win for everyone, even Solas. You know he wants it.  ;)

Ahem anyway, I wouldn't mind my PC tied up instead of ye olde soft music in the background underpants sex scene™ that Bioware is known for...

I realize that would be pretty radical perhaps, like what's a sex scene without sex, as I have no wish to push values or absorb resources with peculiar desires, that's just one person's opinion.

But yeah honestly in many ways I just don't even enjoy the sex scenes they already do spend resources on.... conversely I thought IB was laden with excess kind of baggage and lingo to a degree

IMHO.

Freedom of choice is important.

I'll say upfront that Iron Bull... romance isn't my cup of tea but I'm not against such. I just didn't care for the whole he's "The Ultimate Dom/Power Top" thing going on... and that's that. If that relationship had been flexible (pun not intended) I would've liked it more. The player isn't given any choice in how it goes down, instead just basically has to accept that the Inquisitor enjoys it. meh.

In the general term of sex scenes in video games... Eh. Even just tame ones like BioWare feel kind of ridiculous and make me chuckle like an idiot. I guess I'm in the camp of "fade to black" on this (and i have no desire to see pixel boobs). I think I liked DA2's handling of it the best? Even though Merrill had the "more explicit" version of what Anders had. <_< When these scenes aren't even I tend to like them less. See: Liara vs Everyone Else. And DAI had some confusing moments, like how I got an eye-full of my Inquisitor but saw nothing of Blackwall. ...Why? bah.

Nah, my Inquisitor just would like to see Solas in pain.   He's a Cass romance, so he's not probably watch it happen, but he'll listen to the pain happening outside of the door or something... And my Female Lavellan wouldn't like it and would protest again her dear Solas getting hurt in anyway... <_<

It's always annoyed me that the main character seems to be dominate in the relationship i think it would be interesting to have the option of different roles but that's just me.

Well, you have Iron Bull for a change...

Admittedly, I only played through ME3SP and the Citadel DLC twice and the other playthrough was with a female Shepard in romance with Traynor (Kaiden1-Jacob2-Samantha3). I didn't read any memos about locked in character sexual orientations or follow specific character threads, romance or otherwise. My perspective is formed from my experience of the game without that info.

Then look back previously in this thread.

Whether people complain about ambiguity in Dragon Age isn't my concern. Sure, there is some overlap in players and content creators and some consideration could be taken but the IPs are different. Yet I'm glad you pointed that out as it's something to think about in relation to this.

Regardless, my point is about making an S&M romance options request for ME:A based on my experience of the ME trilogy.

My opinion is that this is probably best left to headcanon; actually doing it justice would require too many resources and be very easy to screw up.

Ok sorry I got what you said wrong, but I don't think I ever said you couldn't be LGBT and like S&M or something, I just said, some people aren't LGBT.. but the power interest remains.

So I think we engaged in some weird diagonal because I wasn't sure why you were bringing that point up in the first place.

My comment wasn't designed to exclude LGBT or something it was designed to say this is a thread for the power element, since there's a thread that focuses explicitly on Bisexual/gay matters.

People are bringing this up, because you brought it up in the OP. If you said "Let's discuss power relationships/BDSM," probably no one would have mentioned LGBT people. You brought the attention to the subject by calling power relationships a sexuality alternative to LGBT and "heteronormative." In one post, you got the definition of heteronormativity wrong, called Iron Bull (a pansexual BDSM enthusiast) an asexual caustic gay man, and mislabeled power relationships as a type of sexual orientation. So yeah, people are talking about it.

This is what I really hate about romances in EAware games, it's all everyone discuss. It's like people around here don't have real world relationships. Go play some Pokemon Go, and go meet people!!

This video is unrealistic.

I'd suggest everything except Pokemon. It''s after my time. Plus, I hate phones. And yes, you can still meet people without a mobile at least.  B)

Real sex doesn't work that way. People go have some real sex.

What? No. What's the point of that? What's that gonna get me? Haha. No, no. Video game sex only tbh.

Children and/or emotional complications.

Liiiiiiike when your prospective partner's not into the same things as you are and you find out after the pants are off and it's super awkward. Which we should probably avoid in the game with a responsible adulty "are we compatible" talk, complete with the nervous laughs.

See? Smoothly bringing my stupid joke back on topic. 100%

I'm for this only if you get to incorporate your sibling in it somehow. I mean the one in the game not real life because that's where I draw the line.

I still can't say I understand, but thanks for explaining. It's not that necessary that I do, I guess. I just hope people take care.

It's not necessary for nor is it for everyone.

The concepts are enigmatic and easily misunderstood and subverted by the surface glamour.

It relates to psychology in a classical sense. Although modern techniques like psychodrama therapy have some parallel methods.

The intent of the Eleusinian rites are at the core of S&M. Someone mentioned to me that ME:A is pulling inspiration from the myth of Persephone but I couldn't confirm that. I'd thought of moving this discussion to the Greek Mythology thread and expanding upon it if I could validate that connection.

 Thanks for sharing that, Dalinne.

As much as I would like to lovingly mindf*ck Solas in all the weirdest ways his painfully obvious sexual frustration has manifested, at the end of the day I actually really liked the restraint with which his romance was depicted in Inquisition. When it comes down to it, actually SEEING the sex stuff play out onscreen is always super awkward for me. I liked that we could fill in the details ourselves. It was classy.

Being in the same room when my BF played through the Iron Bull romance was... interesting.

Only if she consents to it of her own volition otherwise it would be abuse.
