I crafted a new sword based on the Greatsword of the Dragon, the Superb schematic. It somehow yielded a 1 handed falchion, which is utterly useless to me and a waste of materials. Anyone have any ideas why?

Either you picked the wrong schematic by mistake, or the schematic is bugged because it's set to the wrong item in the game.
Be sure to narrow down your selection by having only the two-handed weapon schematics visible. If the schematic still produces a long sword, then the schematic was not designed properly by BioWare and there's probably nothing you can do about it.
There might be a mod on nexus that corrects it, but I don't know. All I know is that BioWare is done working on Inquisition, so they won't be fixing it.
