Use thorian-like weapon to mind control the native species. Swift victory with no bloodshed. We gain first new home planet for humans, resources and free labor force. Humans can sit back and relax while the aliens work in the fields and factories. Of course they must be treated fairly - they are valuable and for moral reasons too. Once we have secured our place in the new galaxy we can probably free them from the mind control so long as they don't behave violently and accept that humans are in control of their world now. It's not fair but this about the survival of our species. At least no lives and resources are lost. This is a peaceful solution.

I destroyed the Reapers so people could live up to their own potential, minus the interference (of Reapers or Reaper tech). To kickstart evolution on a more natural pace. In Legion words, so they can "build their own future".

I'll be damned if I go to another place and do the same thing as they did.

Eh, the MW species could bombard us into submission from space if they really wanted to.

Why this sounds super funny?

This thread made me think of Star Trek. There was that one episode where Picard and his crew find out the Federation Science Department had been watching a pre-flight species similar to the Vulcans. It was called Who Watches the Watchers and showed all the consequences of the cultural conflict, including Picard's near-death experience at the hands of one of the primitives.

As we are explorers, it would be realistic to encounter several colonised or even homeworlds in our search for a planet to call out own. I had a thought. What if we encounter a species that are say, like us humans as we are now? Intelligent, but not yet at a technological stage where they could pose a real threat to us.

How would you handle dealing with them. Avoid them? Fight them?

But most of all, would you want something like this?

I would personally make something like this be more on rails. We discover their planet which is perfect for colonisation, but there is already a species that live on it, so we avoid it. But, there are a group that want to go down there and take it from them. We have to stop that group through a few different ways. Convince them to stop or kill them, mainly.

So really, what I've spelled out is an idea for a side mission. Would you want to do something like that in-game?

IF BIOWARE MAKES A WHO WATCHES THE WATCHERS QUEST I WILL CRY TEARS OF PURE JOY!

Just make one of the options on the dialogue wheel, 'Picard'.

Interesting idea. I like the concept, although I believe the possible planet invasion thing wont make too much sense.

If we avoid real things like unknown viruses and bacteria that could insta-kill us in this new galaxy (things that I'm eager to find how BW will explain), and try to stick with the basics of a possible planet invasion, I think the invaders (Milky-wayers) won't be that stupid. Specially when they're refugees technically speaking.

Invading a planet like say Earth without nuking it to a crappy wasteland would take billions of soldiers no matter how advanced in technology. They are invading a planet, not a shopping mall after all.

If that hypothetical species is not aware of our presence then leave them alone. If they are then proceed to make contact, study them or whatever works best in that situation.

Fat chance, they've had a billion Reaper-free years to stop being filthy primitives groveling in the dirt.

It would be fascinating if, since they are pre-spaceflight, they aren't sure aliens exist, so showing up would be as dramatic and world-shaking to them as if we today discovered life on another planet, and then some. There would be media coverage, and cautious, awed crowds, and lots of questions.
