I got really carried away in another thread, sharing this build so made a thread. Sorry for hijacking the other.

I haven't played anything but the duelist for weeks. Kinda dread hitting 200 cunning but leaving my rogues at level 20 sounds fun. I think I've tried every possible combination of gear. What really made her shine was adding armor penetration... 18 each on my daggers and one superb ring=56 armor pen. Enhanced ambush ring and cooldown amulet= 5.5 sec cooldown on ambush=god mode. Because of her passive that adds 50 crit dmg, you can afford to go for some armor penetration, cooldown reduction, etc on your gear, creating one of the most diverse toons available in DAMP.

Ambush, Swashbuckle, Flashing Steel, Bolt

Combo- Bolt, Ambush, Swashbuckle, Bolt, Flashing Steel, Swashbuckle, slight delay, rinse and repeat. After you blow your cooldowns, begin backing away while bolting. As soon as Ambush cools down, use it to get back in the melee.

I've busted the bubble of several leaderboarders lately when I outscored them. I've never given much attention to the scoreboard but it's fun to hear "You must have had the glitch, to beat me." Nope, just better than you. Actually, it's the support xp from taunting every ~5 seconds with Ambush but shhhhhh!

The best off-hand dagger is definitely Audacity but I don't use it. With Bloody Bargain my survivability is much higher. Been running no barrier NM's lately with very little trouble.

If you have a reliable Saarebas, swap out Bloody Bargain for Audacity. The Duelist can get 10k+ out of the Audacity explosions.
Since you want to dump your elusive before it gets taken away, Bloody Bargain's attack speed makes your animations go faster, enabling you to unload that elusive more quickly.

Try to keep two of each BB and Audacity. Armor penetration isn't very good on threatening and perilous so you'll want 11% attack for those difficulties.

Short video example of what she can do with this setup. I only have 77 constitution so I chug a lot of pots. Finished this one with no deaths despite the level 5 assassin in the fade.

My least played character. Never found a comfortable/fun skill-setup. I will trust your research and give it a try.

Do you think this is viable without Hakkon's Mercy for NM?

Maybe. Try Nameless Blade. You can get the armor pen to 40% on it.

I tried this yesterday and am very pleased. I didn't do the exact build because I am addicted to PI so my cooldowns aren't quite as fast. It's way more fun than constant use of bolt. I think the build works better with a group rather than soloing since you can really draw a lot of aggro with the up close melee and archers tended to waste my elusive as soon as I got it.

Another reason I'm glad you recommended this build is that it made me look at the rings I was wearing. Stupid me has been using a superb crit damage ring for probably a long time which was an absolute waste since the Hakkon dagger and her crit boost passive already put me over the capped max crit damage...

Same. So much fun. I was doing about 10-11,000 crit damage at times even being a little awkward with it. Definitely worth getting some practice in. I don't see many playing as her anymore but she's become one of my favorites.

Yes and Ambush is no good without people to draw aggro. I'm working on a solo build for izzy but haven't found the best setup yet.

Same. So much fun.

That's what got Slakka and I hooked. The flow of battle feels a lot like rogues from WoW. So much fun to have a rotation which combos in to big damage. Good gear helps but with Ambush hitting for 1200% weapon damage, I feel like anyone can enjoy the build regardless of their gear.

Didn't know it's capped...so how high can you get the critical damage up to at most?

190

This more than likely includes the 40% base crit damage, for the record. Meaning +150% is the highest you need to take it.

Didn't know this. Ty. If so, I can push my damage higher and it means people don't need a hakkon to play her. Hmm, also changes my thoughts on Broadsides at range.

I just did a little testing with Isabela and crit damage. Here are the recorded damage ranges from the first hit with Bolt versus zone 1 Darkspawn archers in Perilous:

+151% crit damage

1061-1231

+151% crit damage + Crow's Nest

1275-1555

+180% crit damage + Crow's Nest
1304-1524

+268% crit damage
1495-1718

+268% crit damage + Crow's Nest
1736-2005

I'm beginning to doubt that 190% cap...which is strange, since I've tested it a few times with the Archer, at 154% crit damage and 204%, and saw no difference in the damage ranges. I'd do some more testing but random factions make it annoying as hell. And of course I ran into Druffy's faction trying to find more Darkspawn...always when testing, never when playing.

It still stands that the best Isabela setup is Hakkon's Mercy + Bloody Bargain with two Crit Damage rings (or HoK as needed), though. And this build is probably the best all around. Also, the distance modifier of Crow's Nest doesn't actually seem to do anything. Not sure what's going on with that...

I tried this build but I still don't like swashbuckle.  I think I will stay with braodside.   It is so much easier to play when you could spam bolts.  I don't play her much in perilous anymore because she just clear the room too fast.   Need to let the others hit the targets to get more xp.   In NM is good because she just mark everyone and job is done.  She did damage and now everyone else kill the targets. :P

The one quickest way to get me to suggest bumping it up to NM is to have an Isabella clearing everything with one shot.  It is just too easy in perilous with a decent number of promotes.  Always fun when you are playing Avvar and working on your sword wind up over and over just to have them fall dead at your feet with a crossbow bolt in their face before you can land your attack.

It is too bad that bolt and the mark don't seem to generate support experience though.  But, just being sure you hit everything in the match is still a good way to boost team experience.

I spent all night testing myself. Shame that distance modifier doesn't work. Thanks for the data. I'm gonna stick with enhanced ambush but i'll check out 20 armor pen vs 20 more crit damage.

I was wondering that, but even without the passive, the added crit damage on top of 151% saw an increase of 400-500 per shot. Unless the alleged 190% cap only applies to basic attacks, I've no idea why I didn't see an increase when I tested crit damage with the Archer. The conditions were always the same.

Haha the other day I couldn't find PUG, so I started one in perilous, but before I entered game, "mexicanviper" joined with duelist.  I thought.. hey he never plays rogue .. that's odd.   So I stealth bumped it to NM.   We cleared a zone and he told me he was just testing to see if duelist could generate support xp and the answer was no.  So he went out to swap to Lego.   I think that's the game you joined in the 5th map with your Avvar.   After the match, he sent me a chat asking.. "was that nightmare?".   He was surprised by the amount of xp we got in "perilous".  :P   Must be nice to play thru the whole match and didn't know we were in NM hehe.

Ha! That happened to me the other day when I was playing with Hunter!  We did a perilous match, and I guess he upped it to NM and I didn't notice.  I was playing my inferno-pact belt wearing Saarebas.  I am so use to choosing the attacks as if I am in NM mode that I didn't notice any immunities through the first four zones.   We got into zone 5 with the Venatori Commander, and I thought to myself, "Well, heck.. it is only perilous.  I can throw some fire on her and it will hit for something."   That is the moment I realized we were in NM.. :: chuckle ::

On a side note, it seems like the more I play nightmare, the worse I am in perilous.  I find myself so many times waiting for just the right elemental attack to come available, when it really doesn't matter that much in perilous.  A fire leap towards the Venatori Commander still deals quite a punch in perilous.

Yeah, I remember this. A friend is working on cunning and asked me what rogue generates the most xp. It's been a while, but I thought it was the duelist due to support xp gen. See first post.
