I might have to give credit to Bioware for this... here's a choice you have to live with. Or quit. lol

Zaeed is an optional squadmate. But I do think it was random to suddenly have him as the fire team but I enjoyed hearing him leading them.. until he died though.

Just play it without Tali, with this you can hear new dialogue from two squaddies you like on the Geth Dreadnought and Rannoch base in ME3, because otherwise Tali is mandatory. There's some interesting things and it's also interesting to see everything without Tali.
I let her die in my last run deliberately (also by Zaeed's hand
), it was cool to see the difference.
For quite some time I've been reluctant to let team members die, now I do it all the time because it adds so much replay value to see different outcomes.

And you get different dialogue on the derelict reaper if Tali isn't recruited
The majority of my playthroughs, for ME2, I recruit only 8. That is all that is needed to get through the Omega 4 relay. In those playthroughs, I don't recruit Tali. I don't agree squadmate having upgrades for the ship. So without her, someone dies because the ship has no shields.
With ME3, I prefer having Xen over having Tali on the dreadnought. The best dialogue I've heard on the dreadnought is between James and Liara.

Why no upgrades at least? Seems like the perfect thing to do for a mission like that.
I don't remember what they cost though. I know the medbay is a lot, and I don't use it.

How many stories does Zaeed tell that ends with "And I was the only one who got out alive"?
Sure he founded the Blue Sons, but he was also betrayed, shot in the head, and left for dad by them too.
Jacob was a former Alliance officer and was part of the Corsairs, a team of semi-legal troops used to operating on their own without support.
Miranda was a Cerberus operative genetically designed to be a leader. Not to mention she managed to keep a Cerberus cell alive for two years, that's gotta be some kid of record for them ![]()

Doesn't matter the cost. I don't agree with squadmates having upgrades for the ship especially since one of those squadmates is optional, but to have everyone survive, that squadmate has to be recruited. I would've had it where the shields, armor and cannon are available after Horizon, collector ship and IFF. Let it be up to the player to purchase them or not. The same with the other upgrades.

The ship is the first line of defense and it wouldn't hurt, especially going against behemoths like the Collector vessels.. they already killed you once ![]()

And why should I recruit a squadmate for an upgrade that I have no idea would have? Why is that upgrade from that squadmate and not another? Its interesting that two of the three upgrades for the ship are offered from the squadmates that were in ME1.

I don't know.. they have unique hookups. Or so I gathered. Jacob and his alliance contacts, Tali and (I guess?) Quarian shields.. etc..
Plus, the one with armor serves no other purpose than to kill Jack. Which would make Patrick Weekes happy. Screw him. ![]()

You seem miss informed, Jacob told you several times, he was chief of security for Cerberus on the station where you were being recreated, (leader position). He told you he was a captain in the Corsairs (Leader position.), Zaeed may have had a lot of fights but as you can see he's got himself seriously hurt a lot of times as well as his allies killed. I dont know about you, but looking at the two, I'd follow Jacob giving his resume and the fact he's still in one piece.

On a huge sidenote, I just kill Zaeed myself most of the time.
I like the character too, but it's such a good death.

As for Zaeed, I guess he was more the muscle of the Suns.. and his story is a bit like Jack's to me. The lone human surviving terrible odds out in the Terminus. He's probably lost some people skills.
Zaeed clearly puts his own interests ahead of the team. That was true from his loyalty mission. I would not put him in charge if I were looking to save my squadmates.
