I believe the proposal is to disable saving altogether as long as you're in repeat mode, so it's a change to the save system rather than individual plot flags.
But that would still require a ton of work for virtually no benefit.

Where a replay mode could really shine though is enabling the player to, say, quickly try a short later-game combat sequence at a different difficulty level or with different squadmates (to see how the banter differs) or using different weapons load outs. They could even allow the player to temporarily change their PCs class in replay mode... since saving would be disabled and the game save is not being changed or affected. If they wished, they could add in some "joking" elements - like having the enemies spawning looking like plushy toys.
Wouldn't a simple combat simulator be a better idea? This way you could not only revisit previous locations, but actually prepare for them in advance. For example if you know what planet is your destination then you could pick that planet as your training map and then pick one of the multiple possible situations. That would totally satisfy my desire to "try to do better next time". Because honestly, all my saves are mainly there so I could retry my fights. If I want to explore everything story-wise (in one location that is), I do that in advance: killed the Rachni Queen? Reload to save her. Reload to make a choice that would better suit my character. Etc.
IMO, it would be enough not to overwrite chapter saves. Just keep them all and put them into a separate tab in the load screen (so they don't crowd up your normal saves) and people have an auto save at the beginning of every mission, which they can load up whenever they want -> Problem solved.
That said, this wouldn't be for me. I rather like to just play through the game.
If I want to replay a mission, I would make a save before the mission.
You're certainly welcome to disagree whether or not it's worth it. I would find it extremely worth it just for the time factor alone of having to find old saves at a mission point I want to "replay" to even just refresh my memory as to what sort of dialogue was available to me in that game... why I made a choice I did. I've explained why I think it's worthwhile... if you wouldn't, that's your prerogative. Bioware will, of course, decide for themselves either way.
For that reason I record my playthroughs.

They've already had beta attempts at this with Pinnacle Station(I know BW didn't actually develop this) and the Citadel DLC. Some sort of battle simulator holodeck on the ark where you set the map, enemies and parameters would be a much better use of resources IMO. They could just recycle single-player and multiplayer maps and enemies so it would be an evolving feature with a lot of variables/replayability.

I doubt Microsoft would go for that. They're already known to be pretty anal about how much space individual games take up on Xbox drives etc. (It's a huge complaint among the Minecraft crowd.)

I'd rather replay a mission than watch a video of myself playing a mission.
As I said, anyone it certainly welcome to disagree with me. I personally find the AC system of allowing the player to replay missions (as opposed to just re-accessing locations) very enjoyable... and I've explained why I THINK it would be worthwhile. Bioware will, of course, make up their own mind whether or not the feature can be implemented and how much work would need to go into it. I'm starting to feel "ganged up on" here... so, I'm calling it done... before I start to get frustrated.

"Ganged up on" lol. Don't feel that way, I am all for replaying missions. It's just that...they really need to try hard to simply think of a reason for that thing to be included. I can see why you would want to replay combat sections. But why would you want to replay story bits with the same character when you could explore the game with a different class, background or gender. I guess what I mean is: AC is an action game with only one set protagonist that can't be role-played. It is not simply a nice gimmick, it is justified by the setting (replaying memories with 100% synchronization unlocked hidden memories in Brotherhood), in AC2 you could replay secondary memories so you could do better, find secret areas. But even if you can replay your ancestor bits, you can't replay present day story. Don't get me wrong, if they include this feature, everyone will benefit from it. But it comes down to whether or not Bioware wants to implement that feature and make it seem natural in the setting or be lazy and simply slap that feature in the main menu (DMC style). And I don't think I would be okay with them being lazy with this. I just don't want this to be another "thermal clips".

To get a different outcome for that character the player is currently playing
I make a save before going through the Omega 4 relay. Why? Because when the player clicks on restart mission, it takes the player back to after he/she has chosen squadmates, one for the vent and one for fireteam leader.

Ok, but in that case, you have a problem anyway because no matter how you implement the replay feature in the UI, you need to save the data for how to start it over again, right?
Besides, a typical Mass Effect 3 save was less than 100kb. Even if you had over 100 chapter saves at the end, that's still less than 10 MB. Given how many GB of data modern games use, that doesn't seem like it would cause a problem on a console like XBox One (but then, I don't play on XBox, so I don't know MS policies).
... wouldnt that ruin the story??? ![]()
