Lol. I just mean that you couldn't romance him. The only thing that happened was IF a SINGLE Shepard did some certain things, not romance wise, then you could wake up with him next to you the day after. I don't call that romance.

Kaidan was well adjusted and a lot of people found him boring. They could make a confident, competent, outgoing, sexy, fun etc woman with no emotional baggage/resolved by herself backstory but I'd imagine people'd then call her a Mary Sue or a flawless prepackaged love doll.

That, along with with a proper renegade bad girl, would be one of my ideal waifus, but i'm sure they'd ruin the mance with some cheese and just plain bad execution in general.

While it is not the general consensus, which tends to be "Kaidan is boring", I actually didn't care for Kaidan as a LI because I found is design physically unattractive and his voice off-putting. I hold human LI looks to a high standard (male and female). 

 

Kaidan's look just didn't suit me (really put-off by Paladin Danse as well). I have a preference for fairer skin, blue/green eyes, and lighter haired men. 

 

If we have a male human squaddie, I hope he is tall, muscular, and blonde/fair skinned/blue eyed and younger than Kaidan. I know this is not going to happen though  .

Well, that's the crux of the question. No, I don't think wanting to have a romance with a fictional alien is gross. You may find it gross as a player. No problem there. It's certainly weird, but for some people, it's a fetish. Other players don't find it so weird. And both choices have to be respected because this is the realm of fiction. It grants the freedom to play with your fantasies. And this can lead to people developing new fetishes for uncommon stuff. That's the great thing about video games and literature in general.

 

If it weren't so, then the great male fantasy of having sex with a curvaceous blonde elven woman wearing revealing armor should be equally disturbing. And it is, to women. But to men, it's perfectly normal and healthy. And there's no shortage of mods out there for male players to have sex even with bizarre characters, such as the Lady of the Forest, from Dragon Age.

 

It doesn't mean there are some players that find it "more normal" to romance an alien than a human. It's not about that. I don't think these people judge this kind of situation according to those standards. Garrus as a companion is much more satisfying. Like you said, as a romance, he was better written than Kaidan (IMO, at least, for other gay men/women might feel different). And yes, when you develop romantic feelings for someone, be it a fictional person or not, the sex drive kicks in. Before you know it, voilà, you developed a fetish for Garrus. 

 

In short: people like me don't want to have sex with "aliens". We want to have a fictional relationship with Garrus. It's the difference between people asking for an intimate scene in bed with the turian and some obscure people drawing explicit artwork of

I know this isn't directed at me, but I am very curious  as to how BioWer will demonstrate amour between a male krogan and female human. Being the quad-bearer that they are, my guess is it will be a scene like Scary Movie (can't post here unfortunately) where the woman gets sprayed up to the ceiling after the climax. BioWer make it happen!

Not gonna lie, Xen had me tempted to cross the species barrier(alien waifu with Uncharted Chloe/DA Morrigan voice ftw). T'was a shame that we didn't have an option to help her gain control of the Geth in ME3(whilst using research from Project Overlord from having kept David in it).

Yeah. I had the hots for Aria. But not only was she not an option she was more into the girls. And Xen.............She could've tortured me in her dungeon. And dating aliens is no different from dating someone of another ethnicity in the future. It becomes a norm.
