I liked Sera until she showed me her pig-face.

That's what a lot of people have been saying. I've been of that opinion too. I dislike how when I'm hetero I can't romance a certain LI because they are gay. I would have romanced Traynor. I'm sure some hetero People wanted to romance Steve. Oh well.

Why?  It's realistic that characters actually have a set sexuality... some are bi, some are straight, some are gay.... that's reality.

It's realistic yes, but it's just a game, it doesn't need to be realistic in that kind of things.

Because it gets in the way of my wish fulfillment.

Except DA2 proves that all romances being bi doesn't work as well as set sexuality.

I like the romances in DA2, also in DAI Dorian personal mission was all about him being gay, instated of something more interesting. The other characters would work fine regardless of their sexuality.

How so? I thought it worked fine.

EDIT: Also, isn't all of them being bi still a "set sexuality?"

Mostly because some people confuse rpg with dating simulator (or eroge game).

If they can't get in the pants, they don't want the character in the game.

I thought they was "player sexual", that they were set to like the player.

Everyone being bi leads to it being confused with playersexuality. Which isn't surprising considering Anders' "friend" only became his boyfriend if you played as a guy. Gaider tried to retcon it later on but the damage was already done.

I used to think I had a set (heterosexual) sexuality until SnakeCode showed me otherwise.

And one that strives for deeper, more realistic characters than simple dolls waiting to be used by the player...

It's not the same regardless of the sexuality?

WTF are you talking about? Garrus. Thane. Romanceable. Also there is something called safe sex. You should listen to Mordin.

WTF are you talking about? Those are relationships the Playable Character (PC) has. I said NPCs (Non-Playable Characters). Those characters npcs in the background/ambient/hubs of the MEU. Stuff i'd like to see, which oddly wasn't there for female human npcs. What female humans aren't allowed to have interspecies romances with male aliens except femShep, BioWer? Seems like a lot of human male npcs do it both with femme aliens and at least one male human and a male turian.

Part of the charm of ME is it's living universe, the people in the background and listening to their stories. It's intriguing! It helps us figure out what is norm, what is not norm, and what is possible or can and does exist.

As for safe sex, you'd have less to worry about with a different species from another planet than with your own species.

A specific sexual orientation is not needed for that. Just look at all the romances that never bring up their orientation either at all or only once.

When the characters are written to react and live like realistic people, clearly not.  As someone stated, this isn't an eroge where the sole purpose of a character is for sexual gratification.  These characters are created to be as realistic as possible and that means defined sexuality.  Not everyone you meet is gay or straight or bi.  So why should every possible character that is romanceable all be bisexual?

The only reason to have forced bisexuality across the table is to simply appease the player... not actually be true to the character.

Ask BioWer for a dating sim. And to cancel this Andromeda BS. More sex-with-pixels wish fulfillment, less messianic teachings...or what was it BioWer said; "the Lore is my Shepard".  <_<

A elf who side with the templars and let them rebuilt the order can romance solas without a problem, is also unrealistic based on the character personality but no one seems to care about that. People made the PC do a lot of thinks that go against a character ideals and even so can end up in a romance with them. Thats also unrealistic, actually in find it more unrealistc that meet a bunch of bisexual.

I would actually prefer if certain romances locked you out if you did certain things, and others were enabled by other things.

For instance, I don't really like the way they did a 'fake romance' with Vivienne. Cos it kind of tricks the player into thinking there's some way to romance her when there isn't. Which just makes you end up disliking her for turning you down - which is an understandable reaction, given that she basically laughs in your face. but Scout Harding was worse. All that flirting and there was no actual romance behind it - they just hint to it in Trespasser. At least Viv turns you down.

I'd much rather romances be tied to whether or not you chose a certain thing, e.g free the mages and you can't romance Vivienne, conscript them and you can't romance Dorian, Free the templars and you can't romance Cassandra, that kind of thing. These characters have very strong beliefs, so I really think that if you choose something which is contrary to those beliefs that that would be something which realistically would prevent you from ever getting together.

I have that effect on people. If I don't turn people Snakesexual outright, they become Snakecurious at the very least.

That would be a step in the right direction when it comes to adding some actual depth to these 'mances, like Tali only being 'mancable if the player is Pro-Quarian/Anti-Geth or a waifu/manfu only going for Shepard if s/he was renegade or paragon.

That is less an issue because real couples exist with political/ideological/spiritual disagreements all the time.  Some last, some don't obviously, but they exist.  I find that every character you can romance is bisexual to be unrealistic because if I were to suddenly walk in a bar or club right now, I would be hard pressed to not only find 6 bisexuals of mixed genders, but 6 bisexuals that would be into me.
