Why would I spend all this time learning hand to hand combat if I'm going to face enemies that can:

1. Be much larger than me. (Ogres, Sylvans, Brontos)

2. Use weapons like swords/axes/maces

3. Potentially well armored.

4. Have ranged capability

5. Have magical capability

Ridiculous smh. Keep it in the fanfiction.

1. Mages could defeat them with imbued punches and kicks with ice or fire, rogues could simply dodge and climb and kill giants with well placed dagger in the head with style, and warriors (Reavers) could use Dragon Rage to kill large enemies.

2. Dude they're many ways to defeat them, simply disarm them and use their weapon against them.

3. Simply dodge and a warrior should have a ranged ability to throw their weapons against ranged combatants.

4. Mages are incapable of close combat so dispel them first if you are a Templar and simply whoop his ass.

Mages are not stereo-typically associated with martial art, usually priests, monks and druids, because Mages have magic, why use martial art when you have magic?

Harry Potter don't learn Karate to beat Voldermort

Ihavereturn1999,While in real life live or die mortal combat my M16A1 jammed.. I simply drew my backup weapon(a .45) until I found another M16A1 that was no longer needed by the guy using it.. No chop suey needed. Even if chop suey was needed I would have been shot first just like a mage would be stabbed.

Dude it's a fantasy game not realistic and why not? Were you in the Army @ Desert Storm or Iraq?

Ihavereturn1999,Neither.. Desert Storm. There was lots of "mad minutes"  that never made headlines.

A well train warrior would be well armored and have a backup weapon.

Have you notice mages in DA:I carries a large knife? Check the back of their armor just above the waist.

Armor and a powerful staff with powerful magicks is all a mage needs unless the mage is a arcane warrior.

If martial art want to be implemented, it must add awesomeness, like this, but there must be lore behind it, example mages develop martial art and imbue magic in it, so it become like this...have fireball while punching, or lightning spark when flying kick whatsoever

Then you should know that all militaries and special operations are trained to have H2H combat when you face a situation when you have to use your body as a living weapon. And what's wrong for a mages to kick ass with style like Avatar elemental bending? That would've been cool as hell and it would equal combat equity to Witcher.

Eh Avatar is better example of martial arts combined with magic, and I already did made up a lore and Patchwork mentioned the Ancient Elves invented Arcane Martial Arts inspired by Avatar.
