You don't like the asari's smiles don't get the game. With the awesome power of frostbite 3 and those amazing animations, I'm glad Bioware are scaling back the hotness! I just couldn't handle some super hot women making sex faces at me while telling me i'm awesome! I would have get sheet of plastic to cover my keyboard just to play! let alone of the chances of going blind before the end of the game.
There's nothing wrong with the Asari.

Tell that to the Asari haters.
I'm not an Asari hater at least. You and I seem to like Aria as much.
They're just intentionally going for mediocrity. It's transparent why. And it has nothing to do with Asari. Someone's guilted them into not going for "the male gaze".
Like I told you in that other thread. They used to not give a ****. Now they do too much.

I looked at her in the trailer. She doesn't look like a guy. Just an asari with dimples and eyebrows. Liara is the only other asari with em. Like some have said she probably drew them on. LOL.I'm not an Asari hater at least. You and I seem to like Aria as much.

She looks like she 17 or 20 which means she's like 40? I don't know how the Asari thing works. I was kind of hoping on an older asari like Samara or Aria and it looks like we are getting some kid. Not that I have a problem with that but they already had a young asari. I only hope if she is a squadmate that can be romanced that she isn't like a childish clone of Liara. I like mature Asari. There I said it.I don't think she looks like a guy either.

look around. People have a problem with it. I'm not gonna lie sera and Cass were not the prettiest roses in the garden. Hell, Cass looked better in da2 but that doesn't mean the asari is Ugly. I just see dimples. Honestly in DAI you couldn't get with leliana or morrigan. They looked fine. That seemed to be a problem for some people. And that's my problem with DA. Their protagonists don't mean $#!t. In the next game We'll probably become like the dread pirate Roberts and when we want to romance say Cassandra we can't because the inquisitor romanced her but he isn't even in the game. Just like they screwed us with the warden and leliana. We haven't seen him/her since DA. who give a darn. I don't care much about DA in general anymore. It's not mass effect and it'll never live up to its greatness in my opinion. Thats the series biggest flaw is that they don't have their own Shepard or Ryder. Besides........the mass effect universe has always had better LI's. I'm not worried about the Asari and whether her facial features make her look like shrek. I don't see it and if you don't want to romance her don't do it and if you do, you do. Simple as that. I'm more concerned about her becoming another Liara. Haven't seen her in a action yet.OK.

I just see dimples.
And you're also saying that's all other people should be seeing. That's not how that works. People argue that there are other features that bug them. I showed the picture of the asari to a guy next to me at work, that has nothing to do with ME and said it looks like a weird looking guy.
I don't see the guy thing either, but if an unrelated guy says it, it definitely seems like something is off about it.
Doesn't mean it should be changed, though. Artistic integrity and all.

Attractiveness in this sense is not subjective. Cassandra can not be appealing to someone, sure. But no one can sit here and say she is objectively ugly, that is pure falsehood.
Unless you are honestly telling me this
is in the same ballpark as
It's not fair to compare a real women who have a physical disease with a videogame character.
Also, it is subjective. If there are people who find sera attractive it is proved that it is.

Oh, but he could basically call me a pig and say I only was interested in "perfect 10's"? Nice double standard you have here Alan, with your 30 plus thousand posts and you pushing the same agenda that he does and attacking and reporting any deviation from "intersectional feminism". For the record my wife looks more like Cerys and spends a lot of time in the gym. I am a big man and she is a large woman. I do love being called a woman hater after being married for more decades than many of these pinheads who are single have been alive though. Very entertaining.
Given that most people on this site will be between 20something and 30something, parsing this statement if we assume that it's remotely true would imply that you've been married for about forty years, which would mean that you're at least in your late fifties (and in that scenario, married right out of high school, provided that you finished it). Which makes you resemble the Timecube guy even more than I thought you already did, and it makes the total package that much more hilarious. Unless you actually have paranoid schizophrenia, in which case, please get that looked at.
Anyway, everything else aside, the eyebrows are an abomination.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion if you think the asari is unattractive, fine that's your opinion but some of you take it too far. As soon as i saw this topic i knew most of comments were gonna about how "ugly" the asari is. This whole thing reminds me of the whole "The women are ugly and look like men" debate in DAI. Although this is a game and I don't like to bring up real life into fantasy, i have to bring it up to make my point. I think a lot of people are so used to seeing models, actors and conventionally attractive people on tv, Internet, magazines, movies, other games e.t.c. and are so used to having conventionally attractive love interests in the past games, that as soon as bioware tries to do something different and a potential love interest comes along that isn't conventionally attractive or the norm and has some "flaws", It's "oh my god! ugly! I don't want them in the game!". If you don't like a character for whatever reason, don't romance them simple as that, she's not the only romance option (If she even is one) and bioware is not forcing anyone to romance anyone so I don't get the big deal. I've had a couple characters in games that didn't romance anyone because they didn't fit my character or appeal to me whether, it be looks, personality or both and that didn't at all stop me from enjoying the game. GET OVER IT.
And many people say, "Well It's just a game so I don't wanna see ugly people in the game", regardless, all games try to have some type of realism in it especially rpgs. Many things that we see and happen in real life affect how devs make games most of the time, if not all the time . With that said, what are the odds that every single person you work with is going to be attractive? (unless your a model/actor/work in fashion e.t.c) I know many people work with people all the time that range from attractive to unattractive and everything in between, not every single person you work with and our character works with or has the option of romancing has to be attractive and if you think so, too bad. Especially the fact that our character is probably gonna be some sort of military rank, I expect to see companions and romances that look regular, average, like soldiers or even younger (only because were suppose to be rookies and green) and if we do get some really attractive love interests, great! I'm not against that.
I love that bioware is trying to be different (Something i highly admire when game developers do) and not trying to make all the romances really attractive like alot of the romances in the trilogy (which was not a problem either to me). And like I said, It's not even officially confirmed if she's a love interest yet. Yes i get it, the asari are suppose to be attractive but not every single asari in mass effect was attractive. I've seen way more asari in the trilogy that weren't attractive (to me) than really attractive. I always found the human women more attractive than most asari, I just was never that impressed with them really but hey that's just me. However there were a few who I found attractive.
Before I played Inquisition I wasn't impressed with the female love interests either, I didn't think Cassandra was all that attractive and I didn't like her personality because of DA2, but when i actually played it, she looked more attractive in-game but mostly, I started to get to know her, I fell in love with her character and ended up romancing her anyway, and now she's my favorite and my canon romance for Inquisition. When I got to know her and started to like her personality, she became so attractive to me.
If the asari is unattractive to you that's your opinion, I'm not saying no one shouldn't feel that way, but some people saying she shouldn't be a romance option just because she's doesn't appeal to them is selfish and stupid. Many people think she's unattractive but many people also think she's cute and are open to finding out about her personality and what she's like first before they completely write her off based on looks, so it would be unfair to those people, for bioware to remove her just because of that.
I sincerely hope we get more "Ugly" and "Hideous" love interests in the future. People need to get used to seeing characters and love interests in games that aren't all conventionally attractive or ugly, according to most of you. This is a Action rpg, that happens to also have optional romances. If bioware wants to make all the love interests really attractive, cool. If they wanna make them look more unconventional, cool. I don't mind either way I care more about their personalities first. If you can't get over that and don't like the direction bioware is going with their romances, go play some dating simulator. I'm sure you'll find more attractive love interests there.

This entire thread will be gone, just like always. Left is a woman. Right is a guy in drag. Just like the Asari. But whatever. If Bioware wants to keep pushing a transgender agenda? Have fun.
Women can have features that are deemed masculine by some societal standards: It’s a fact. Women can have features that make them seem androgynous to some people: that’s a fact. You may not find these features attractive in a woman but that does not mean that the women in question are not women. Men can have features that are deemed feminine by some societal standards: It’s fact. Men can have features that make them seem androgynous to some people: that’s a fact. The same applies, however, in that this does not mean that they are not men.
Cassandra is a woman; there is nothing to suggest that she was or is a man unless you follow the philosophy of the Qun. On her romance route, we see a shot of her naked so no, she is not a man in drag.
You also do not appear to know what the word transgender mean so here's a hint: it does not mean a woman who has certain features that are deemed masculine by some standards and it does not mean a man who has certain features that are deemed feminine by some standards. Additionally, seeing as we do not see what armor the asari is wearing, I also question whether or not you know what it means to be in drag.

God forbid BioWare include a significant female character within a game who isn't good-looking.
(For the record, I actually think she's cute. I just also think that the ridiculous double-standard that exists when it comes to male and female characters - feel free to have an average-to-ugly dude as a significant character, but if it's a woman, she'd better be at least above-average or else - is, well, a ridiculous double-standard.)
It's really nice to see women of all shapes, sizes, colors and levels of attractiveness included in entertainment. Reducing women to eye-candy for male entertainment has been the norm for far too long. One note representations of women alienated me from many forms of entertainment; with that alienation, men would claim that women just weren't into 'x' when the real problem that many women don't like the way they are represented in 'x'.
At any rate, I'm optimistic about the path Bioware seems to be on. DAI had a great cast of characters and I love what we've seen of the Asari in MEA. She actually looks interesting, like someone I'd like to know and not just designed for men to want to bang. Thumbs up!
