Most likely built em when shep was dead or before. It's not like they planned on making MEA. and about Alpha Centaur. Well we don't have the sufficient tech why would we. But Mass Effect universe does to get to Andromeda. It's like saying let's explore our darn ocean and not go and explore Mars or the moon. Why even go to Mars if it's a dead planet? To learn more about it. For science.

We did explore the oceans before going to the Moon, right? In Mass Effect universe, we can't reliably travel very far from the Relays because we don't have the technology. But suddenly we are going to another galaxy.

The Milky Way is not an ocean. The conservative estimate is 100 billion stars.

I understand we got to move.. they left no other options without forcing a canon. But this dismissiveness is strange.

It was a comparison. My point is we know less about our ocean than space and that we should focus on that more than space. No. Its not like they are sending every single person in the galaxy to Andromeda obviously. Only select volunteers. They chose to go there for whatever reason. You can make a game about exploring the MW in 2182 but that's not as cool as going someplace new like Andromeda. We've seen the citadel, earth, omega, Tuchanka, etc. Let's go someplace new.

They did it because Shepard dies and they chose to ignore. Call it what you will but that makes sense. They're politicians. Shep was basically the only one who cared and knew but was killed.

No it doesn't, it makes no sense what-so-ever and if anything it makes the council even more stupid especially since they admitted that sovereign was a reaper at the end of ME1.

I've always had the theory that ARKON is a privately funded project by an old person with far too much money and time.

I liked Contact, but I'd rather see something else.

I think being the first people to explore and colonise a new galaxy would be quite the nice accolade. I'd take it. I've always had the theory that ARKON is a privately funded project by an old person with far too much money and time.

Perhaps the initiative was looking to maintain contact with the milky way once at Andromeda(hundreds of years later) but then things got reapery on the other side.

One person no, but a group of the richests. That wold be my guess.

It doesn't make any sense of course, but it makes no sense in a better way then the council or governments doing it.

Except the game in exploring the Milky Way would be no different because again, in the unexplored parts of it, which is nearly all of it, would be no more new than Andromeda.

What do you think could be in Andromeda that couldn't also be in the 99+% of the Milky Way that hasn't been explored?

Doesn't make any sense? You should watch the news more. We got affluent people today funding research into gettin to Mars and colonizing that place. Its just like that. Can't you see that. It's like this: 2050, we send a group of volunteers to Mars. I would go. For exploration and a chance to explore the unknown hell yeah! But then Hanako comes in and says we still need to explore earth and the bottom of the ocean. Really?!?

Doesn't Citadel make it canon that the Council always did realize that Sovereign was a Reaper?

If memory serves, it's suggested that the Council is covering up the idea of Sovereign being a reaper if you access Avina in ME2. I'm pretty sure Legion makes an interesting comment on that.

Those very guys wanting to go to Mars would scratch their heads at your analogy. They're fascinated by this galaxy.

Andromeda isn't made of candy. And if it has life, it's carbon based. Just like here.

You need to stop putting words in other people's mouths and making ridiculous comparisons that aren't even close to what other people are saying.

No, we don't have the technology. People extrapolate that we do, but the fact is nothing we actually saw in the trilogy makes us believe we may be able to build that kind of vessel. Moreover, it would be ridiculously expansive and would give the "investors" absolute no return. We don't explore mainly for the sake of explore.

Going back to my Alpha Centauri example, it's like we do have the technology to go there. All we need is a little better cryo sleep and that's it!

Mars. We don't see they doing it for Alpha Centauri, do we? Now, if you say a group of people were trying to build a vessel to reach a previous unexplored part of the Milk Way I would say it totally makes sense.

Another galaxy? No.

It's a new galaxy. We don't have a ******* clue. Who cares? We are going to a new galaxy. I can tell you MW doesn't have khet or those big brute creature. New alien races, different kinds of planets, New technology, etc. That's what the MW doesn't have. ;) Its not like the two galaxies look exactly a*******like. Andromeda is bigger. It's a medium sized group. They volunteered to go to Andromeda. Can't argue about that. I need to explore the 99℅ percent of the MW. Good! We'll be in Andromeda. Have fun!

Everything you just said could easily be in the unexplored parts of the Milky Way. There is nothing special about Andromeda by itself story-wise. Any story there could be here.

Which is why I just want a dramatic reason to go there. Not some "Exploration!" thing..

I mean, damn.. even Buck Rogers had a reason to fly forward into time. And that was pulp schlock written in the freaking 20s.

If you really believe what you're saying then thats bull****. Who says you can't fund an expedition to alpha Centauri? No one. But we don't have the technology for it, ME has technology, we dont have the money for it, We have money to get to Andromeda, etc. There are probably still undiscovered mass relays and we don't need an ark to get to other places in the galaxy. In ME we live in the MW and as far as we are concerned aren't going anywhere. The people who remain can explore it. But why not stride to explore more? If We can do it then we do it. You're not gonna stop me from going to Andromeda. You can stay and explore the milky way, I'm going to Andromeda. You can't stop me.

How would you know? You haven't played it. You're so wrong. Also it can't be because of reapers and the endings. That's a huge reason in itself. Do I need to go on? We can be here all night.

Why not? Mystery? The unknown, colonization, meet new alien races. The fact that its another ******* galaxy!! How is that not good enough for you? We don't know what's going on in Andromeda But We'd like to. I'd like to.

I'm not here for mystery. These guys don't know anything more than I do. I'm here for drama. And this particular asspull requires some good drama. :)

If you say so. I want to go for the adventure and the unknown.
