I have not beaten the game yet, but this is what I have heard. Finish up everything you want before you go after the IFF. The reason is, people have told me that after the IFF mission, you re given a choice of going to the "point of no return", or to continue recruiting. If you choose to continue recruiting at that point, it makes some bad stuff happen in the finale. I'm not sure what, but this is what I have heard.
So if you are unsure, do what I am doing: finish recruiting and do loyalty quests and anything else you want to complete, THEN do the IFF mission.

I went on the IFF mission as soon as possible so I could get Legion, then I brought him with me to the quarian flotilla.
Yeah, I took him with me on that occassion as well. Got some nice reactions from the quarians

Please explain again how to avoid going to the collector ship? Everytime I go to Illusive man after we finish speaking we automaticly go to the collector ship. Help !
EDI hasn't said anything to me.

I am not getting a option on how to return to the Normandy. I have no option into returning to recuiting members in which I have 2 left and have a ton of missions left to do.

The collector ship isn't the point of no return..The assignment you get after completing that mission is. But you can take your time what that mission and build up your team.

It is my understanding that you can go to the Collector Ship and not have to worry, because it is mandatory. The way it was told to me was this: After the collector ship mission, you can choose to continue recruiting with no penalty. However, after the IFF misson (which is the next major plot point after the Collector Ship), you must choose between continuing the story or continuing to recruit. At THAT point, you will invoke some kind of "penalty" for continuing to recruit.
So after the Collector Ship mission, just continue to do everything you want to, then do the IFF mission.

So this isn't the mission where you crew gets captured? Thanks , but I will have a save standing by just in case . My goal to bring both all my squad and crew back on the first playthrough. Anything else is unacceptable.

SPOILER of course
After the Collector ship you will be tasked to get the Reaper IFF. You can take all the time to do that.
Once you got the Reaper IFF there are maybe 2 missions until your crew gets captured. If you do not immediately go through Omega4, you will lose part or all of your crew.

Do you get Legion on the IFF mission? If this is the case, and I want to bring him to the flotilla with me, then I will sacrifice my crew when they get captured on the IFF mission right? If you want your crew to survive then you need to get everything done, including loyalty quests for current crew before IFF, then do legions loyalty mission then point of no return? Am I correct, this is all speculation based off of what I have read, not there yet.

Yes, you do get Legion on that mission. After that you can still do 2 missions (maybe 3) until your crew gets captured. Once your crew is captured you cannot do any more missions unless you are prepared to sacrifice part or all of your crew. So yes, do every loyalty mission and ship upgrade before you get the IFF and you can everyone through (but you have to make good personal choices for the final mission as well - you will see when you are there)

I was just wondering from all of you who have completed the game how close am I to the end (or maybe not close at all)?
I do not want
any spoilers, just an idea of how much more of this great agme i have
left before the final missions arrive. I have maybe 5 ppl recruited and
all the rest to do, plus all 9 of thier loyalty missions left, and
besides my over-abundant planet scanning and side quests that is all .
. . and I am like 18 hrs in.
I guess what I am asking is will
disc two of the game be just as packed and epic or is the game mainly
recruit everyone on disc 1 and then disc 2 just has like 1 mission and
its over?

If I remember it right the game switches to disc 2 a little after the first set of dossiers. Then you're on disc 2 for the remainder of the game until you go through the Omega Relay. It switchs you back to disc 1 once you hit the other side.
