Do you think BioWare's annoyed with their fans?

Internet communities are fluid, so why don't you just....post your criticisms on Reddit? If they are intelligent, there won't be a problem.

There will be. Following that logic everyone will just move there and Bioware will do what they've done before which is hop off of it and go somewhere else.

You shouldn't have to chase them to give them your opinion.

Bioware's reminding me of Niantic Labs(the people behind Ingress and Pokémon Go). Niantic has no one actually talking to anybody and as such people who have issues with PoGo are getting frustrated with the lack of communication. People who played Ingress saying that Niantic has always been terrible in this way.

At least Bioware used to be good about this. The fact that some people still think Jessica Merizan is community manager is all you need to know about the lack of communication.

If I were part of Bioware, I'd be annoyed and quite vocal to the pessimists. I would most likely get fired for this also. Think about putting majority of your time into a product. Working long days to put out a substantial product to still see people complaining about little flaws because of something in the past.

it's just as bad to see if you don't work with them.

That nuanced message isn't really what I got when the inquisitor says the Independence-day-level-of-stupid line "you wanted into the fade?" and sends Corypheus into the hole in the sky and then goes back to Disney-like cheering crowds at Skyhold.

True. You have to play Trespasser to see how hollow it all was. So maybe it's more accurate to say that Trespasser recasts the events of DAI?

See, that's the thing. You have to ask if bioware is annoyed with their fans. You have to wonder.

No. And that says it all.

That is exactly right. That is why they are moving away from their original fan base and starting to cater to the more mainstream Cod FPS crowd. They are far more easier to please. I am getting the feeling that they are slowly trying to weed us out so we are no longer a problem for them.

"Weeding out" individual sorts of fans from BSN would most likely involve heavy handed moderation of the posts and deleting any post in which they didn't like what was said.  Since they are obviously not doing that here, on what do you base this accusation that they are actively trying to weed out whatever specific group you're representing by using the term "us"?... Is it that they are not writing the game to specifically cater to that one group's very exacting tastes?.  Does not customizing anything to your specific desires mean that they are arbitrarily trying to weed you out?  Don't think so.

I'd say they are just ignoring BSN... and they have lots of justification for doing so.  Employee's driven into therapy by hostile fan reactions is no trivial matter.  It's BSN "fans" who ultimately "nuked" BSN.  The "fans" must "own" the blame for that.

The issue isn't that Bioware is "running away" from reasonable fans... it's that the dregs of the internet have basically caused them to ignore the most toxic of areas.  When your own forum resembles gamefaqs there is a clear problem.

Let's be honest... outside of the character subforums, how much of this site is not moaning, whining, and complaining with quite a bit of trolling thrown in for good measure.  Even the romance threads are that or they are just the scariest places to tread into period.  That isn't exactly an inviting place to be.  These past few months are my most active since the ending fiasco and then ME2 and prior.  It used to be a fun place.  Now, not so much.

I think Mac "Ending Killer" Walters and Casey Hudson were annoyed with the consumers.

I imagine the rest of the writing team was annoyed with Mac "Not a Story writer" Walters and Casey Hudson.

god forbid they invest in actual moderation to try and fix some of the issues, much easier to throw up your hands and move on

What would they be annoyed about after ME2? I wasn't around here, but I don't remember any drama. It was well received, I thought.

No, because sites like Reddit have stricter moderation. Not only that, but it's a hub of people with wider backgrounds. Reddit in particular is an interesting intersection of the casual and hardcore fan. As such, it's a pretty easy place to get a range of opinion. Some sites are simply going to be more inherently valuable than other sites. Right now, the BSN is a place to go if you want the opinion of extremely nitpicky, hardcore fans. Sometimes, that's a good thing (I like coming here to discuss lore, for example). Sometimes it's not relevant data.

They used to try and moderate it, but the most toxic of posters would just continue to flood the board with the same BS.  Do you continue to fight against the tide of negativity or eventually just let it stew and the site diminish slowly as most people abandon the toxicity for better places.  And let's be completely honest... the internet breeds toxicity now.  For every site that is more reasonable and light hearted, there are hundreds where it is vile, toxic, and all about spewing hatred and idiocy.

There is a reason so many forums have taken a nosedive and populations have faded... people have grown sick of the childish mentality that has dominated the internet these past 5 years.  People seem more intent to tear things apart than they are to talk about things they like.

Probably, I remember a guy said that David Gaider wrote porn or something to ridicule the romance contents in Bioware games, then some tumblr people started to attack him because he made a joke about dwarves being children, then there are supposed death threats to some of the writers. People making fun of ME3's "artistic integrity". Basically anything Bioware does or says will be twisted and use against them. Now, they're not even on here anymore.

I can understand annoyance at the worst parts of the fandom. Not everyone here is like that, but there's no reason to pretend their hesitance to give  the entire fandom the benefit of the doubt is justified.

Why would they be annoyed by their fans? Fans give good feedback, and feedback can be positive and negative criticism.
It's the trolls and haters that put too much salt in the soup.

If someone dares to put trolls and haters and fans in the same boat, you'll be left behind in the milky way!

Fans don't smear their whiny poop over peoples faces and go "THIS IS MY OPINION! DEAL WITH IT!". They call themselves Fans to give the true ones a bad name and get attention. Those people deserve to get kicked in the crotch by a krogan and get molecularly disintegrated by an biotic adept.

And that's my opinion. Deal with it.

This. If the forum isn't what it can be moderation wise, thats on Bioware for bailing and leaving the forum to a third party to moderate. There is nothing stopping this forum from being what it used to be except Bioware. They have to want it to be fun, they have to want it to be moderated well, and they have to produce content that makes people happy.

They haven't done that and I'm not going to give them a pass when they say this place sucks. It sucks because they let it suck by allowing certain types of people to stink up the joint. Don't complain about a rust bucket when you let it get that way.

I miss Gaider. He kept showing up here far longer than most everyone else. And people could still contact him via tumblr, at least.

Oh, well.

Where did I say Bioware sucks? I said they let this forum suck out of negligence. I want them to return in power and force like how they used to operate around here with a better sense of whats trolling and whats legitimate criticism(even if they don't like it). I want them to deal with trolls and people that are wasting time causing trouble here for everyone else. I want them to communicate with us more like back in the old days. I want them to open up more of the social features that fans loved to partake in here(groups, blogs, the off topic section, etc etc). I want them to not get offended at every little thing. I want them to not be so goddamned snarky and passive aggressive with their responses to posts here. I want Bioware to take the high road every single time as they should instead of blowing up(some were very prone to this behavior).

I can't believe I'm about to paraphrase that nutter Trump but I want Bioware to make this forum great again. Right now it sucks majorly. All Bioware/EA has to do is WANT to. They don't. They don't treat the forum like a necessity although they should;we're a major part of their fanbase(not in number but in value) and they've directly taken many ideas that were posted here.

We are worth it.

The forum is worth it.

But Bioware doesn't think so, and thats what bothers me.
