Why can't people who mod the lobby just set it to private?!?!

Running into modded lobbies happens, so no big deal.

I even have a sticky note on my desk, that has the names of people who always mod lobbies, so that if I notice them when joining, I can just leave.  I have 7 names on that list so far.

In my experience, it's been a rare enough occasion that it doesn't bother me. But...

In particular, for about the past two weeks, I keep running into this one guy, who has "Bio"(trying to avoid shaming) in his ID.  I've always run into him, but it seems with the fewer and fewer amount of UUP lobbies, running into him repeatedly is a much more common occurrence.

I've resorted to petty antics like trying to kick him from his own lobby... and my favorite so far which is to get the object retrieval, and play keep away with it.  That seems to be the only way to get any enjoyment out of a game I've joined w/o noticing the lobby I've joined.

I think modding in this game is NO PROBLEM!  It's an old game, and it's not a PvP game, so I have ZERO PROBLEMS with people who mod.  I can see how it could be cool to just do weird things, or use some of the hidden weapons.

BUT... why do people feel the need to do it in public lobbies?

Anyone have similar problems while solo-pubbing?  Am I being unreasonable?

Some do it for fun. As long as the leader/host notifies the lobby beforehand, then I have no problem, but if they don't then they're a dick. I've landed in lobbies with crappy modding, and those tick me off.

Oh, so you frequently run into this guy. Is he by chance always doing the same thing as in this picture? (Expanding Rocket Launcher radius to cover entire map)

Also, how to you feel about guys who are into more challenge and only reduce Rocket Launcher dmg to do 1 dmg (apparently not enough to kill a swarmer) and go public with their lobbies?

I sometimes run into lobbies where the host auto-revives every time they're killed (unless some quick mook executes them immediately).

Lel... ALL THE TIME!

It's really kinda irritating... I've flat out quit playing for the day when I keep getting dumped into the same lobby(old game, smaller and smaller player base, especially UUP).

I generally feel ANY PUBLIC modded lobby is a dick move.  It would be cool if they notified every player that the lobby is modded... but the problem with that is that not everyone may speak the same language, or a player drops and you join and get dumped into it, or not everyone might have their mic enabled(I sometimes do this when I get enough open mic people in a row with obnoxious noises).

I remember once being in a modded lobby where the "Difficulty" field was just empty. So, in theory, it's possible to ask anyone who mods their lobby to leave the "Difficulty" field empty, so that anyone who drops in immediately understands that something is amiss.

The problem is, not all lobby modders are on BSN.

Well I'm sorry, I cannot comply with that request. Watching pugs rocket in vain to escape a crazy tense situation only to fail miserably is the funniest thing I've ever witnessed playing this game. Literally laugh out loud moments to myself. Especially the first few times I've seen it in action and also because they initially all seem to think the rocket went through the map or something, as they keep trying in disbelief. And well, warning players of this would take that surprise factor that provides me with much laughter and sick excitement.

Besides, game is so much more fun without rockets too. Especially wave objectives. Rockets to me is like big time cheating in this game (I literally bail out of many games where I see too many rockets flying around). It also encourages better teamwork and tactics instead of brute forcing yourself out of a hard situations with I win buttons. It really changes the way this game is played for the better. If I could, I'd disable running with the package too (but this one I don't mind when players do).

The only other mods I enjoy so far, is always raining on Ghost and auto venting Reactor.

other day i ran into 3 straight modded games while puggin gold and plat. each time the host had started the game by himself so no chance to ask or him declare it was modded and not just the obvious zombie mod..but ammo crates all screwed up..or fury AF has radius the size of the map and just running around not seeing anything got you kill streaks

most that ive seen are not good enough to play platinum much less gold and are either trolling pugland or hoping someone else sticks around to help them

If I do zombie in public i wait til lobby is full and i declare whats gonna happen, otherwise there's plenty on my FL who play that everyday

but yea its becoming more common from my experience and annoying in general pugs.

Before when you see someone not using consumables in gold or plat ..u go meh..now..when i see the Host not using anything i suspect a modded game

I've run into a few of them that even try to make their lobbies legit by equipping consumables before starting, and then boom everything dies with one bullet and you realized you just wasted good consumables as you quit.

Haven't done many public platinum games for some time now, but a while a go there were at least 3-4 people that frequently hosted those Epic fail games, can only hope that they get bored and stop after a while.

 I just thought I had real shitty aim especially when I was moon walking between 2 banshees and "missed" with a rocket.  Actually didn't bother me since I made it through anyway  B)

I hope BW will add more customization options in ME:A's MP.

I have no patience for mods that make the game easier, because... why? (Rhetorical question; I'm not looking for an answer).

I typically approve of mods that make the game harder/more interesting, but preferably when the host gives us warning.

Theoretically it could I guess, but it would require way more time and effort (and knowledge) compared to PC given the differences between the platforms.

Most of the cheaters on PC don't create that part themselves, they just download software that someone with knowledge regarding game coding etc have created.

The main problem with ME3 on PC is that way to much information is stored on client and not on server side, that saves EA a ton of money but it also opens up for many disappointed customers.

I have no real problems with (certain) modded lobbies. Anymore.

It deterred me when I first started playing. If I ever suspected hacking, I'd quit immediately. You know, it was the hole "I don't want to ruin my experience" crap. Now, I've put so many hours into MP, I don't mind just messing around in a few modded matches. Don't get me wrong, there are exceptions.

Stuff like the zombie mod is fun as hell, I don't mind sticking around for it. The host is just looking to have fun. Then there's the morally-grey area modded matches. You know, everyone gets infinite shields, or all their guns do a billion damage. Those can be really annoying, especially if you just brought all your best level IV gear to Platinum, just to have it wasted.  And then there are people who just hate fun, and mod their lobbies so other players can't get kills, or shoot, or reload, or sometimes even move. Screw those matches, and honestly, screw the people that host them.

I've also seen stuff like an all-phantom match. The host was kind enough to warn me before-hand, and we both died horribly. But it was fun. Or just a few days ago, I was in a match with a Batarian dude on Firebase White. The old Firebase White. You know, before the patch that made it more open? The match seemed fine at first. Until we got wave 11, when he pulled out the Cain, of all things, and just nuked everything. I wasn't even mad. It was beautiful.

Anyway, I think modding can be fun. Except when it isn't.

I see, thank you for explaining it. I've always been curious to whether it was possible or not or if people did it. I wouldn't do it personally myself since I am more for honest play.

The N7 ranking and challenge points leader on PS3 has used modded games and other forms of cheats to get his position (1769 Collector masteries in 506 hours, not bad !). But as Patrick said, it's pretty rare on consoles, as it requires more skills than modding on PC.

On topic : some people just want to see the world watch.

Confession....

When the Earth DLC came out, one of my first matches was a game with a Destroyer.

All I kept seeing was 'Missile Launcher' on the kill feed... so I spent the match light meleeing his face.

Felt like a d#ck a few days later when I realised it was his 'hawk missile launcher'....
