I'm halfway through my 3rd playthrough of ME3 and wondering about spreading out the Citadel dlc a little.  Am I right that there are three parts more or less?  Clone mission, the meetups and finally the party?  Am I right that I can return to the Normandy after the clone mission, return and leave anytime during the meetups?  Save the PARTY for later?    I'm too chickenshit to play it now 'cuz I'll probably get all weepy.

In other words, when can I return to the Normandy before the party?

The three parts are:

The mission, which has to be done all at once.  Can be triggered any time after the Cerberus coup

The meetups, which can be spread out (you can't meet anyone until you complete their content in vanilla ME3 anyway)  But you can visit the Silversun Strip on your own whenever you like.

The party which can be triggered at any time after you complete the mission and before Cronos station.

I do the first mission right after my LI has locked in.  That's right after the Citadel coup for Liara and you've chatted on the Presidium, but all the way in the middle of the Geth storyline for Ash for example, so it varies.

Then I cruise around doing missions and popping back to the strip every now and then.  Finally I wait till after Horizon for the party, so that Miranda will turn up.

I did the DLC all in one the first time and bloody hell it was long.  Was desperate to shoot something by the end of it.

I always spread it out myself.  Doesn't make sense narratively to spread it out but it makes the playthrough itself more enjoyable.

I typically spread it out. I start it after Rannoch, since that's sort of a high point of the story where the tone gets more positive. As for the party, I admit that I often skip this part, unless it's one of those rare occasions where I'm all pretending that it's some sort of post-war state when the game resets to Cronos after completing the campaign, though I don't do that often either since lying to myself takes effort XD.

If I decide to play the dlc, its usually after Sanctuary
