Anyone able to help me ?? Tried to complete the 'Ideal Romance' Quest but cannot complete it because the candles are not being sold by the merchant within val royeaux. I think I might have accidentally bought them when I first started the game or there is a bug. Cannot complete the quest to romance Cassandra so I don't know what to do. Reloading a save doesn't do it or starting the quest again, seems like a permanent thing so was wandering if there is a cheat to automatically complete a quest like this one.

I thought using cheat engine might work to get the item straight away and place it into my inventory but no sure that works with quest items. All I know what to do is duplicate materials and money.

Really, Really want to finish this quest to romance Cassandra but I cannot. I put like 20 hours into this character already and do not want to start all over again.

Make sure the quest is marked as active in the journal. Maybe that's why the items don't show up. The items do not exist in the merchant's store until you start the quest, so you couldn't have bought them before hand.

Also, I think the candles might be in a different subsection of the merchant's inventory. You have to select one of the end options. I think it looks like a book icon, and it's to the right of the schematics icons.

Another thing to take note of is that the candle is only sold in a particular store. Make sure you have the correct store. The merchant is Pierre-Marie. He sells weapons and armor too. This store has multiple racks to buy from, so be sure to select the correct rack.

There is a possible bug with the bookseller in Redcliffe where he won't talk to you. Save your game before traveling there and try reloading if you get that bug.

I have checking multiple times and this is the correct merchant the one near the entrance to the city and I have checked the 'book icon' for other items and it says 'Nothing to sell'. After checking, the weapons are gone so I believe I may have bought all the items and the candles as well then accidentally sold them. Not sure why they would sell a quest item before the quest activate, I don't know just guessing. (spoken with bookseller) I already have the book which you get from a caravan in the hinterlands where there are bandits and the flowers from the flower girl. Just cannot get the candles.

And you also have the "Buy" option selected when looking at the book icon, right?

I don't understand why you would have bought every item in his inventory. Most of it is lower grade junk. Also, I don't think the candles exist in his inventory until the quest becomes active, so I don't think you could have bought those.

Do you have any saves from when you first went to Val Royeaux to address the Chantry? I suppose I could look at one of my own saves later to verify, but I really don't think the candles are sold until and unless you start the romance quest.

If you have a save from before you started the quest, try going to the merchant first. That's how I did it. The bookseller was last.

There is a known bug with the bookseller. So if you went to him first then maybe that fudged the quest line and is what's preventing the merchant's candle from displaying in his inventory.
