When do you think the 4th installment of the Dragon Age saga will be released?

I am expecting sometime in late 2017 at the earliest 3 years from the last game.

Mass effect andromeda is going to come out 2017, so i don't think so. Maybe 2019?

I am hoping, as long as MEA doesn't get delayed (again), then we could possibly see the earliest tease at E3 2017 (EA Play), for a possible release in late 2017 or early 2018. This of course depends on how they will present the new IP and the circumstances surrounding that.

DAII was released on March 8th, 2011 and DAI was released on November 18,2014. That is 3 years and 8 months between the two - and they needed to transition to a new engine. At the moment we are almost two years away from DAI's release, but only a year from Trespasser's release. So, we could say that DA4 has been in the works for a year (possibly). If we don't count the DLCs, then that will be a two year development time - which is feasible, since they aren't moving engines, but I don't want them rushing. I would be okay with late 2018 or early 2019, which is more likely if you count the DLC development time.

So, my official guess  is September 2018.

^I will probably forget all that when anything comes up that will hype me...I lose all rationale  :P .

I think 2017 is way too soon. They don't seem to be in full production yet. My current best guess is northern Spring 2019, following Mass Effect: Andromeda in 2017 and the Sekrit New IP in 2018.

Sometimes in the future...

End of 2018/start of 2019 .

And this is depressing. :(

Is this a pool? Shouldn't we pick the month too? Over/under? ;)

Who knows? They got a bit of a reprieve when CDPR ended the Witcher series, so that's one bit of competition they don't have to schedule for/around. If the new IP isn't FRPG, that takes them out of the running vs DA4. Everyone else is chasing hero MOBA's and procedural space games.

Except for Bethesda. That's the one possible schedule issue: the follow-on to Skyrim, TES6. That's rumored to come out in 2017. Might be an issue for scheduling MEA, but shouldn't be for DA4.

So I agree, 2019 seems likely. First announced date may be the end of 2018, but since every AAA game slips a few months from their initial release date, early 2019 seems good.

I would have thought that if they are still using the same engine then it shouldn't take so long between games as the last one.    They originally planned on releasing the DAI in 2013 but then put it back a year, so really 3 years ought to be the maximum between releases.    All the story is meant to be already there.   It is the other half to DAI that we didn't get.    So 3 years would have taken us to late 2017, or with the same development time as DAI, to Spring/Summer 2018.

Anything longer than that seems way more than it should be.    If it doesn't come out until 2019, even spring, that will be four and a half years from the release of the main game and three and a half from the final DLC.   Talk about going off the boil.    DAI was a success.   Why take so long?

EA are in control of when a game releases. BioWare still have their new IP to hit the shelves, which will come out before DA:4. EA will not want two games from the same developer to compete on the market.

When do you think the 4th installment of the Dragon Age saga will be released?

I am expecting sometime in late 2017 at the earliest 3 years from the last game.

It wouldn't surprise me if it comes out at the earliest 2019. BioWare as three games coming: Andromeda hopefully (it also wouldn't surprise me if it gets pushed into the Summer/early Fall months)  Spring next year, there super secret throw away the lock and the key, new IP and obviously Dragon Age. They probably don't even have a script for Dragon Age "4"; their probably throwing out ideas right now trying to solve X, Y, and Z.

Fallout 3 (gigantic hit) - 2008

Fallout 4 - 2015

Just because the predecessor was a hit doesn't mean the next iteration has to come out sooner.

Bethesda is a good model for Bioware, since they both have two major IPs (one FRPG, the other SFRPG sort of) that leapfrog each other in schedule.

My choice in the betting pool October 2017. (I'll admit this is mostly wishful thinking). But as stated already they don't need to write the story as its the second half of DAI we didn't get, and they have most of the bugs ironed out in their new engine so 2017 seems reasonable.

From the collection of comments here, I think Spring 2018.  :P  I have no clue though, this is the first time I've ever waited for a game to come out.  I guess I should just be thankful I didn't find DA until March 2016--got to play all 3 and DLCs straight through, no wait, no bugs. That's spoiled right there.

Well, we've got ME:A early next year, next up is probably the mystery IP, so we're probably looking at 2019 for DA4, maybe late '18 at the earliest.

I think maybe 2018-19.

But I hope we get some news soonish. Because the threads are information starved.

I obviously missed something... when was it confirmed that there actually will be a DA4?

Also - is there any reason to hope that this new IP is an RPG?

Nope. We are working off an assumption.

I want them to take the require time needed to create an awsome and well polished game (even if it will take a very long time for them to release it..)

But at the same time.., damn. I'm bloody hell curious about Solas' plans and what he's up to this time :(

.. and that's coming from a girl who never romanced the dude :( could only imagine for the lavellans out there who does.
ouch.. >.<`

Well, now with the official forum being shut down, I don't think there will even be a studio before DA4 releases.

As long as Bioware has a good amount of time to perfect the game, I don't care about the release date. I want a fantastic story.
