lol. Aren't fans always annoyed at BioWare in general?

Depends. They keep doin the same hair every game. Why anyone wouldn't be annoyed by that is beyond me.

I don't know how annoyed I am with them, but I don't buy much of their stuff anymore. I buy their stuff behind the market, when I buy it at all. I certainly don't like the direction their storytelling has taken. Does not giving them money constitute annoyance?

That's the question that really matters, because we are the ones putting food on the table for Bioware. Not the other way around. They literally cannot afford to alienate us......because without "us" there is no Bioware.

Andromeda needs to be miles above the original trilogy in terms of content fidelity. It's also a brand new chapter in more ways than one.

On the technical side of things, ME1 might've been a cumbersome little mess but it left a significant lasting impression on the majority of players, that's why the sequels sold as much as they did. If ME1 was trash and was shunned by players, there might not have been a ME2/3.

Now they're REALLY trying to convince us to basically forget the original trilogy because its events don't matter anymore where Andromeda is concerned. They're in fact putting more pressure on themselves than we are on them, because to completely overshadow the trilogy in that way, they'll have to pay close attention to feedback pertaining to what was done wrong in the first place.

How much exploration sucked in ME1 and how it was non-existent in the sequels, the steadily-worsening dialogue as we went from ME1 to 2 and 3, the embarrassingly high number of bugs plaguing ME3's Campaign mode (the only mode that really matters)......I can go on like this all day. All those examples just scream laziness.

Andromeda needs to be "da bomb" and NOT bomb.

But without no Bioware, I wouldn't have 2 of my favourite game franchises.

Andromeda will definitely be above the original trilogy in terms of graphics and power, no doubt about that. But I don't think each game must be better than the last, and I don't think that's a healthy level of expectation. If we get a game as well paced as ME2, with a story and villain as good as ME1 and combat as good as ME3, well, that's the best I could hope for.

They aren't trying to convince us to forget the original trilogy. At some point, things have to move on. Andromeda is a great way to actually do that, bring new things into the franchise, and, along with that, new fans. Is super mario galaxy an attempt to erase super mario sunshine? Is Zelda: Skyward Sword an attempt to erase Zelda: Twilight Princess? No. That's kind of a silly thing to suggest. Unless you want ME to become CoD, the same game released time and time again, with only the slightest of iterative changes.

I've realised, at this point, that your post doesn't really describe or answer your Topic's question.

That is: do you think fans are annoyed with Bioware?

Obviously, some fans are.

Many fans expect the world and are disappointed when you only deliver Mars.

Many fans are disappointed with how Bioware kinda ignores its official forums, and I wish they didn't, butt I kind of see why. There isn't all that much to be gained from here, if we're being honest. Not from Bioware's perspective.

ME3 had a terrible ending, DA2 was disappointing, but when you hear people calling DAI the worst game they've made, or railing against ME2 for daring to have competent gameplay, or, my favourite, 'Dragon Age isn't enough like Baldur's gate', then are those people really being reasonable? Do people who act as though Bioware exists solely to produce the exact game they want, really have the right to be disappointed? Sometimes, Bioware genuinely do mess things up. But what is the point in going on and on about it? Why can't we let certain fires die out? And then people complain that Bioware don't come here to listen to incessant whining - that they've already heard before. People are far too concerned with being heard on the internet, and that isn't limited to BSN.

Many people clamour for this feature or that feature to be added/removed, with no awareness of the process of game development, how far along that process upcoming games are, the cost in time, money and personnel it would take to implement/remove said features, or the general creative direction that the game is going down and how adding/removing certain features would fit, or not fit, into that vision. Fans are ignorant: that's not their fault, but it's the way it is. They have their opinion, but often, an uneducated opinion isn't even worth listening to.

The thing is, internet criticism is kind of like death of a thousand cuts. Even if you're getting good feedback and criticism, hearing the same thing a hundred times gets tiring an d it all become white noise. You still see people today complaining about the hair in DAI. Don't you think Bioware have gotten the message by this point?

I guess the TLDR is: people can be disappointed, or have certain requests, but there has to be a level of awareness and an acceptance that Bioware don't exist just for you. But too many people are unreasonable and that sours the relationship between Bioware and their fans, meaning that Bioware don't listen to even the better criticism that comes from here.

I know, mine either. It can't even stand up on its own.

Tell me about it.

I had to fold up one of my paper planes and try to even out the legs on it.

Then the cage fell off and I couldn't figure out which way it was supposed to go on again.

Dunno who makes these things but they're getting paid a lot to do nothing.

I know I am, mainly because of their removal of off-topic and apparent inability to handle criticism.

Was there ever an Andromeda off-topic sub-forum? Serious question.

Wah?

Well that was random. If you thought I was being contrarian with that comment the "serious question" bit was meant to dissuade someone from making that assumption.

The first thread was pointless, and this thread is pointless too only in reverse.

The "relationship" should be about buying a product (or not) and enjoying it (or not).

This forum is a place to discuss the topic and nature of the product. Criticism tends to be ignored for the most part.

Talking about being annoyed is even less effective than offering criticism.

Fans will be fans, and therefore will be annoyed for a plethora of motives, some reasonable and some not so reasonable. Bioware doesn't have the responsibility to please every fan.

That being said, they have a responsibility to keep us updated with some minimal pieces of information regarding the game, especially if they want us to pre-order it.
For instance, there are suspicions that the game won't be released until December 2017. If that happens to be the case, they must come forth and let us know. That is the bare minimum you could expect from a game developer.

Pausing for a hot second and just taking "fans" here to mean "people who visit internet forums about games regularly" I'd say fans have an inflated opinion about how important their support is.

Ultimately, EA/Bioware have responsibility to one thing, and one thing only, their bottom line.
