Today the DC thread was moved to the now closed off-topic forum. If BW wants to be respected then it needs to quit silly things like that. It's not the first time this happened. I've seen it before. Some time later another mod sees the thread and deletes it.

Was it a mistake? Perhaps, but I have a hard time believing that, because even that forum's name changed to include "Archive".

Am I annoyed by that? No. But it shows that some at BW don't really care what they are doing.

Edit: Note that I'm fine with that topic being closed. It's just the way in which it happened that is noteworthy.

DC copying Bioware.

Was there ever an Andromeda off-topic sub-forum? Serious question.

Not specifically for Andromeda, but there was a BSN off topic section.

I'm not annoyed at Bioware. I'm glad they're taking their time. It's frustrating to be patient, but I feel like it'll be worth it.

But I am annoyed at Bioware fans, mainly on this forum. This forum is a disaster of repeat hair, romance, and gripe threads.

Fans will be fans, and therefore will be annoyed for a plethora of motives, some reasonable and some not so reasonable. Bioware doesn't have the responsibility to please every fan.

That being said, they have a responsibility to keep us updated with some minimal pieces of information regarding the game, especially if they want us to pre-order it.
For instance, there are suspicions that the game won't be released until December 2017. If that happens to be the case, they must come forth and let us know. That is the bare minimum you could expect from a game developer.

Or what? You'll not pre-order?

If your consumption of the game is dependent on ordering fifteen months in advance, call it a hunch but I'm pretty sure you aren't a target demographic they particularly need to care about.

That's the question that really matters, because we are the ones putting food on the table for Bioware. Not the other way around. They literally cannot afford to alienate us......because without "us" there is no Bioware.

Ignoring the possibility for Bioware employees to get other jobs, they can still make a living as long as we aren't alienated to the point of total boycotting. Fortunately, we aren't. We aren't you, after all, and whether you but they next game or not I almost certainly will. Bioware hasn't antagonized me at all- far from it- and they have a solid enough reputation despite the hiccups that they can rest quite easily without depending on your magnanimous patronage.

Bioware depends on us, but not you. You could die tomorrow and they'd never notice. Most of us wouldn't either. You're just not that important.

The fans on BSN aren't the voice of the general audience. If you check out the most popular threads here, you'll see they are all about romance options, gender options, etc. On BSN it seems to be that everyone is playing Femshep, while general statistics show most players go with Maleshep. BSN is a very weird vocal minority, one BioWare shouldn't cater too much for, since they'd end up making a weird dating sim that only 500 people would play world wide.

I do that too. The CC is serviceable if you're playing as femshep. But creating a male Shepard is almost impossible. It's hard enough making a custom Shepard look human, never mind good enough to sit through a 40 hour game with.

That's the question that really matters, because we are the ones putting food on the table for Bioware. Not the other way around. They literally cannot afford to alienate us......because without "us" there is no Bioware.

Andromeda needs to be miles above the original trilogy in terms of content fidelity. It's also a brand new chapter in more ways than one.

On the technical side of things, ME1 might've been a cumbersome little mess but it left a significant lasting impression on the majority of players, that's why the sequels sold as much as they did. If ME1 was trash and was shunned by players, there might not have been a ME2/3.

Now they're REALLY trying to convince us to basically forget the original trilogy because its events don't matter anymore where Andromeda is concerned. They're in fact putting more pressure on themselves than we are on them, because to completely overshadow the trilogy in that way, they'll have to pay close attention to feedback pertaining to what was done wrong in the first place.

How much exploration sucked in ME1 and how it was non-existent in the sequels, the steadily-worsening dialogue as we went from ME1 to 2 and 3, the embarrassingly high number of bugs plaguing ME3's Campaign mode (the only mode that really matters)......I can go on like this all day. All those examples just scream laziness.

Andromeda needs to be "da bomb" and NOT bomb.

I can't have my cake and eat it too, what the fhegrggaerl…

In other words, SSDD. Us fans, by our very nature, are never completely satisfied so are we annoyed? Always! Maybe a little, maybe a lot but always, always and also happy, happy because FaNs!11!!111

I wouldn't agree with the notion about the "no fans, no BioWare" though as, one, BioWare's no longer an independent company. Two, following one, as long as enough people like their games, the studios will remain open. While fans are guaranteed sales, this isn't as important for the survivability of the company. They're the icing for the company if the fans enjoy the games. This is most likely why they were collectively hurt we weren't thrilled with ME3. They might have thought they hit it out of the park and what they find out is that grand slam got turned into a pop-fly by a high-wind.

At BioWare as a whole? No. Certain employees at BioWare are vile people though so that annoys me.

I'm not even shocked that absolutely nothing happened in regards to Manveer Heir's White Tears mug.

No. But there was an Off Topic subforum so that we could talk about all things unrelated to Bioware not including heavy subjects like politics and such.

It was great. And then Bioware/EA took it away because fun police.

Having seen the twitter feeds of many other BioWare devs, it's probably condoned if anything. Or at the very least justified with some BS about "punching up".

A BioWare employee flaunting a mug reading "POC tears", or "feminist tears" or something of that nature though, and it's be a COMPLETELY different story.

@ Draining Dragon: Heh. That 's just it. I don't really see an edge there myself. I mean, we white males used to run everything, and still run way more than anybody else, and we didn't get there by caring what anybody thought of us. The insecurity of modern whites, males in particular, is something that I find alternately funny or embarrassing, depending on my mood. I was thinking "funny" when I considered getting the mug.

Edit: but, yeah, I know, intellectually, that we're supposed to be PC and not find this stuff funny.

That's just about the opposite of what he actually said, you know.

The point is, that I don't want to belong to the "us" of the OP and the "us" of Dean. The "us" in both situations is there to give the impression that the arguments have more weight. And adding death to his argument is designed to impress the reader some more. So, maybe I should have added a smiley in there, but there aren't any that fit.
