(if there is another thread like this I apologize, but I did search and anything similar is very old and I am no necromancer lol)
What I mean is what is the one story you will take with you through all the DA games?
I have played many but the one that I call my canon one and could write a novel about (seriously everything connects too perfectly and I wasn't even trying) is my female Amell/Female Mage Hawke/Rogue Archer Lavellan.
My Amell starts off her journey by helping her best friend escape the circle. They encounter a Tevinter statue already prophesying Cory and Solas but think nothing of it and continue onward. Amell is betrayed by said best friend and becomes a GW. She helps her dear friend Alistair become King alongside Loghain's daughter Anora. She redeems Loghain and convinces him to do Morrigan's DR and then defeats the AD. This Amell has high friendships with all her companions and went through each quest by choosing the compromising and helpful choices so less bloodshed was dealt and let everyone know of the Urn. She unfortunately is why Anders becomes a GW but she had no idea what the future would hold. Her story ends with her saying goodbye to Morrigan who leaves a parting gift that starts her seeking out a cure for the Calling.
Hawke is currently escaping Lothering during Amell's trip to the forest to help the elves and ends up in Kirkwall with her brother and mother. Her sister is dead and she meets her uncle. She becomes a mercenary and meets Varric who talks her into joining his brother's expedition. After restoring Flemeth and meeting new companions, they head off to the Deep Roads (Carver after finding his namesake is happy to become a Templar) and discover the dreaded red lyrium that will later come back to haunt her and Varric for a long time. After defeating the Arishok and becoming the Champion she is in a deep romance with Fenris and has been talked into helping Merrill fix a broken Eluvian. Sandal tells her of something to come that creeps her out but she tries to ignore it. Despite being a Mage she knows the mages cannot be saved and helps the Templars whenever she can (after her mother's death she knows this to be even more true). By the end of her story she has killed Anders with deep regret in her heart and is a Viscountess who discovers her father's blood was used to revive a terrible being called Corypheus who she is sure she kills (this also explains why she is bloodthirsty for his death in DAI and after what happened to her mother why her hate for blood magic is beyond reasonable anymore). On the good side of things she also finds out she is related to the HOF and has a cousin so she is not alone like she thought. She has her friends, her uncle, her cousin and her lover.
Lavellan is distraught to discover she has some magical thing stuck to her hand and being one who was raised to fear magic is furious at her current fate. She slowly comes to accept her situation and helps the Templars defeat an Envy demon. As she becomes the Inquisitor her developing relationship with Solas has become more than she thought and she is now madly in love with him. She meets Hawke and they all head off to meet Loghain and end up falling into the Fade during a war with the GW the reminisces of Sophia's downfall at the Keep. After the truth is discovered in the Fade about what really happened she leaves Hawke behind (Hawke remembers Flemeth telling her about an abyss and leaping and knows she can survive this) and lets the GW seek refuge in her Keep. She hears from the HOF shorty after her return and learns that the Calling might but curable. After uniting the 3 crazies of Orlais and meeting Morrigan and her son, she and Solas share a dance and then head for Mythal's temple. After drinking from the Well she and Solas break up and her and Morrigan venture into the Fade to find her son. She finds out Flemeth is Mythal and she now serves her. Cory suddenly reopens the Breach and the final fight begins. When it's over Solas vanishes. 2 years later she reunites with old friends and meets Hakwe's cousin and joins the Red Jenny's. As she attempts to stop a war with the Qunari she finds out she was in love with the Dread Wolf himself and vows to save him by heading to Tevinter where her BFF is now a Magister. She has disbanded the Inquisition as Mother Giselle ad her discussed back when it all began and is ready to make this personal.
So much more happened in between but none of it felt significant enough when it came to connected all 3 stories, but I always play good characters with good hearts and good intentions and no my Amell romanced no one. I used to romance Zev but I just felt my Amell should remain alone. Her path was not one anyone she loved should follow even though Zev will if you romance him.
My Lavellen will save Solas if we get that choice too. And I hope we do.
