(if there is another thread like this I apologize, but I did search and anything similar is very old and I am no necromancer lol)

What I mean is what is the one story you will take with you through all the DA games?

I have played many but the one that I call my canon one and could write a novel about (seriously everything connects too perfectly and I wasn't even trying) is my female Amell/Female Mage Hawke/Rogue Archer Lavellan.

My Amell starts off her journey by helping her best friend escape the circle. They encounter a Tevinter statue already prophesying Cory and Solas but think nothing of it and continue onward. Amell is betrayed by said best friend and becomes a GW. She helps her dear friend Alistair become King alongside Loghain's daughter Anora. She redeems Loghain and convinces him to do Morrigan's DR and then defeats the AD. This Amell has high friendships with all her companions and went through each quest by choosing the compromising and helpful choices so less bloodshed was dealt and let everyone know of the Urn. She unfortunately is why Anders becomes a GW but she had no idea what the future would hold. Her story ends with her saying goodbye to Morrigan who leaves a parting gift that starts her seeking out a cure for the Calling.

Hawke is currently escaping Lothering during Amell's trip to the forest to help the elves and ends up in Kirkwall with her brother and mother. Her sister is dead and she meets her uncle. She becomes a mercenary and meets Varric who talks her into joining his brother's expedition. After restoring Flemeth and meeting new companions, they head off to the Deep Roads (Carver after finding his namesake is happy to become a Templar) and discover the dreaded red lyrium that will later come back to haunt her and Varric for a long time. After defeating the Arishok and becoming the Champion she is in a deep romance with Fenris and has been talked into helping Merrill fix a broken Eluvian. Sandal tells her of something to come that creeps her out but she tries to ignore it. Despite being a Mage she knows the mages cannot be saved and helps the Templars whenever she can (after her mother's death she knows this to be even more true). By the end of her story she has killed Anders with deep regret in her heart and is a Viscountess who discovers her father's blood was used to revive a terrible being called Corypheus who she is sure she kills (this also explains why she is bloodthirsty for his death in DAI and after what happened to her mother why her hate for blood magic is beyond reasonable anymore). On the good side of things she also finds out she is related to the HOF and has a cousin so she is not alone like she thought. She has her friends, her uncle, her cousin and her lover.

Lavellan is distraught to discover she has some magical thing stuck to her hand and being one who was raised to fear magic is furious at her current fate. She slowly comes to accept her situation and helps the Templars defeat an Envy demon. As she becomes the Inquisitor her developing relationship with Solas has become more than she thought and she is now madly in love with him. She meets Hawke and they all head off to meet Loghain and end up falling into the Fade during a war with the GW the reminisces of Sophia's downfall at the Keep. After the truth is discovered in the Fade about what really happened she leaves Hawke behind (Hawke remembers Flemeth telling her about an abyss and leaping and knows she can survive this) and lets the GW seek refuge in her Keep. She hears from the HOF shorty after her return and learns that the Calling might but curable. After uniting the 3 crazies of Orlais and meeting Morrigan and her son, she and Solas share a dance and then head for Mythal's temple. After drinking from the Well she and Solas break up and her and Morrigan venture into the Fade to find her son. She finds out Flemeth is Mythal and she now serves her. Cory suddenly reopens the Breach and the final fight begins. When it's over Solas vanishes. 2 years later she reunites with old friends and meets Hakwe's cousin and joins the Red Jenny's. As she attempts to stop a war with the Qunari she finds out she was in love with the Dread Wolf himself and vows to save him by heading to Tevinter where her BFF is now a Magister. She has disbanded the Inquisition as Mother Giselle ad her discussed back when it all began and is ready to make this personal.

So much more happened in between but none of it felt significant enough when it came to connected all 3 stories, but I always play good characters with good hearts and good intentions and no my Amell romanced no one. I used to romance Zev but I just felt my Amell should remain alone. Her path was not one anyone she loved should follow even though Zev will if you romance him.

My Lavellen will save Solas if we get that choice too. And I hope we do.

I have to admit I hardly see anyone choose Sebastian. It's actually a nice change to see that!

Male DW rogue Brosca. I keep changing his LI because he's smooshy-cute and I'm indecisive, but he's a good guy with a grumpy personality. Secretly a seething ball of rage but also kinda fluffy. (He got along with Sten, for some reason... :P)

Male mage Hawke, mostly snarky, moderately pro-mage. Fenris romance. Loves his friends, loves his family, has a love/hate relationship with Kirkwall. Emotionally exhausted 99% of the time. Sided with the mages.

Female mage Adaar, mostly diplomatic with some lulz thrown in. Seramance. Unsure about this Herald business, but it'd be nice if the sky stopped pulling a Linda Blair kthx. Didn't ask for or want the Anchor, didn't drink from the Well, etc. Disbanded the Inquisition.

Female Cousland Warden, romanced Alistair, had him perform the ritual, became queen. Accidentally a complete Mary Sue! (In the 'everyone sympathetic loves her and everything goes right for her' sense, not the 'self-insert' sense. Any self-insert of mine would have screwed up way more.) Not my most interesting DA character ever, but not a bad place to start.

Female Warrior Hawke, extremely protective of her sister and by extension all mages. Aggressively pro-mage freedom. Romanced Sebastian, but she was BFFs with Anders and refused to kill him so that ... did not end so well.

Female Cadash Inquisitor. Did not believe in the Maker - or much of anything else - and did not understand why these crazy humans wanted to put her in charge of anything. Ultimately rose to the occasion, though, when she realised she was the only one who could save Thedas. Romanced Blackwall, but she sent him to the Wardens, so that also didn't end so well.

I am kind of hoping that whoever I romance in DA4 doesn't die and/or storm off threatening to start an Exalted March. At least the Warden and Alistair were happy until she had to go look for a cure?

Female Amell Warden, romanced Alistair. Did a bunch of stuff I don't remember because I don't care about her :P Other than the fact that Alistair did the ritual with Morrigan.

Male mage Hawke, full of salt, snark and sass, romanced Anders. Refused to kill him at the end. Best of pals with Varric and Isabela, Carver became a templar.

Male mage Lavellan, storm mage/knight enchanter. Romanced Solas, allied with the mages, recruited the grey wardens, drank from the Well, Celene and Briala reconcile (though I might change this into Gaspard getting the throne, depending on how I feel about that in my next playthrough), Cassandra became divine, keeps the Inquisition and vows to kick Solas' ass no matter what. No mercy for the egg >C (I love him though)

DAO : Cousland female warrior warden put Alistair on the throne. She persuaded him to do the DR with Morrigan. She was ready to die but since Morrigan offered a chance at life, she took it. Though she and Leliana made promises to each other, she knew it would be difficult to keep since there was much to do after.

DA II : Hawke the warrior did not take Bethany with her to the Deep Roads, she returned to find that Bethany had been taken to the Kirkwall Circle. She sided with the mages and killed Anders when he confessed that he had plotted to destroy the Chantry and the Grand Cleric. Soon after, she left with Isabela while the others scattered to find their own refuge from the anticipated hunt for them.

DAI : Trevalyan warrior Inquisitor did not take up the religious mantle and persisted in her stance that she was not the Herald of Andraste. She could not save the mages from Corypheus. Taking the offer of an alliance, the Templars worked with the Inquisition to fight against Corypheus. She helped Celene secured her throne, reconciling Briana with the monarch at the same time. Though the wardens were misled, she felt they shouldn't have allowed fear overcome the righteousness of their conscience. Unable to predict whether Corypheus would unleash a Blight, she allowed the wardens to remain. With Morrigan and the others, she prevented Corypheus from taking the power of the Well. Since she had no desire for the power, she allowed Morrigan to take it. With the witch's help, they defeated Corypheus. Two years later, she accepted Cullen's marriage proposal. Not long after, she learned a friend had turned to foe. This decided her as to whether she should disband the Inquisition. She chose not to and put the Order under the control of Cassandra who was now Divine Victoria.

DAO: Male Dalish elf, dual-wielding Rogue with Assassin/Ranger/Shadow specialization, Zevran romance. Really fun playthrough - I had no Coercion skills, instead, I relied on my other skills and companions. Mahariel was very distrusting when it came on magic (because his and Tamlen's misfortune was coused by magical mirror). He allowed Jowain to perform the blood magic ritual only because he didn't want to kill a child. He saved the mages in the Circle, but he convinced Gregoir to lock them (most of the mages are dead anyway, Templar force seems to be a better deal). He sided with Caradin and crowned Bhelen. He managed to cure werewolves. He killed both Avernus and Sophia. He let Alistair to have his revenge. He refused Morrigan's offer. Alistair slayed the Archdemon. During Awakening, Mahariel chose to save the Vigil's Keep (even though he would be able to save both but you don't know that unless you are metagaming) and at the end, he killed both the Mother and Architect. At the end of Witch Hunt, he let Morrigan go without stabbing her.

DA2: Male Hawke, sarcastic, dual wielding Rogue with Assassin/Shadow specialization. Isabela romance. Bethany ended up in the Circle. Hawke was pro-Circle - meaning, he sent mages to Circle everytime he could. He also showed them mercy several times - he helped Fenryel in Fade and defended Kirkwall's Circle when Meredith used Right of the Annulment. Anders was killed, Aveline got married, Fenris killed Danarius, Bertram is dead, Merrill destroyed the mirror, Isabela came back with the relic, Arishok is dead.

DAI: Male Dalish elf, dual wielding Rogue with Assassin specialization. The Iron Bull romance. He intended to recruit mages but when it turned out to be risky (because of Venatori presence), Templars seemed to be a better option. He consripted them. During Here lies the Abyss he sent Straud to charge at Nightmare while rest of the party escaped. Then he recruited the Wardens. During Wicked eyes and wicked hearts, he uncovered Florian's plot and blackmailed Celene, Gaspard and Briala. The Inquisitor drank from the Well of Sorrows (because he believes it belongs to Dalish, not some shady swamp witch). Abelas survived. At the end of the game, hardened Leliana was chosen as the next Divine (Lavellan doesn't care about Chantry, so...). I haven't played the Tresspaser (because I'm not a fan of story-important DLC and it really p**sed me off when I discovered that I have to pay to get the real ending of the game) but in the Keep I decided to disband the Inquisition (obvious problems with security, spies and bureaucracy) and to hunt down Solas by any means necessary (he was a friend during the main story, but after watching the final conversation with him, I think he's beyond redemption). Oh, The Iron Bull saved Chargers, Blackwall was sent to Wardens, Cassandra rebuild the Seeker order, Cole is more human now, Dorian reconciled with his father.

Haha! Yeah same with my Warden. It was my first time playing DAO and I wanted to complete everything so I was loved by everyone because I did all their personal quests. At the end of the game during the celebration everyone was alive and happy! It was not the dark ending I was expecting from other reviews.

We had Morrigan, Anders and Solas break our hearts. I wonder who the DA4 heart breaker will be? A blood mage?

DAO: Kallian Tabris, city elf dw rogue (assassin, duelist, bard and Legionnaire specs). Did some good stuff, but also some questionable stuff. Romanced Alistair (because it was my first pt, and somehow he ended in love with my character; when I realized, I decided to go ahead with that romance). All companions recruited, survived, and maxed approval with nearly all allies (I guess only Morrigan, Wynne, Velana and Justice never reached 100). All DLC done.

Killed Vaughan, saved her cousin Soris from prison. Helped Dante (Dog). Recruited both Sten and Leliana (she didn't convinced the revered mother, so she lock picked Sten's prison instead). Saved Redcliffe, made Isolde kill Connor. Recruited Zevran and sided with the Mages in the Circle. Made peace between the Dalish and the werewolves. Spared Avernus in Soldier's Peak, and allowed him to continue his experiments in an ethical manner (also, got the Power of Blood abilities). Supported Bhelen for the throne of Orzammar (because something Zevran said), helped Dagna to go to the Circle and sided with Caridin.

Found and preserved the Urn of Sacred Ashes, destroyed Kolgrim's group and killed "Andraste". Allowed Brother Genitivi to survive. Was arrested in Denerim, and fred herself and Alistair. Helped the sergeant with his quests and did threesome with Isabela; also, became the Dark Wolf during the crime wave quest, and helped Master Ignacio with his "works". Killed Loghain because he sold her father to slavery (only reason because she killed him), made Alistair and Anora joint rulers, and continued being Alistair mistress. Performed the Dark Ritual and became Bann of the Alienage.

Recruited all possible Wardens in Awakening, helped Oghren to be a better father and got Wade to craft Vigilance. Saved both the the Keep and Amaranthine, allowed the Messenger to survive, and sided with the Architect. She and Morrigan parted in good terms in the end.

DA2: Male Hawke, sarcastic, spirit healer/force mage spec. Isabela romance ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and Varric's best bro. Started neutral in the mage-templar conflict, but drifted to the mages as the game goes on. Carver became a Grey Warden. Did mostly good stuff and killed Arishok.

Also, helped Aveline with her marriage, Merrill to finish her mirror and didn't killed her clan, fred Fenris and helped Sebastian. Varric preserved red lyrium shard. Did not approved Anders actions and killed him. Sided with mages in the end.

DAI: Karas Adaar, mage, Eldrith Knight spec. All companions recruited, Cassandra romanced, Bull went Tal-Vashoth, friends with Eggman, killed the assassins during Josephine quest, made Cole more human, Blackwall became true Grey Warden, encouraged Cassandra to rebuilt the Seekers, Leliana became Divine (hardened), all DLC done.

Templars conscripted and Wardens allied (Hawke survived), Gaspard and Briala rule Orlais; allied with ancient elves, spared Calpernia and Morrigan drank from the Well of Sorrows, and uncovered the truth about Ameridan. Became Red frigging Jenny, preserved the Inquisition and vowed to help Eggman if possible. (Also, I got the Dorian/Bull romance).

Hawke(a mage), Carver, Bethany, and Leandra fled Lothering during the fifth blight. Unfortunately, Hawke's sister died fighting off a darkspawn Ogre. Assisted by Aveline Vallen, the group survived the darkspawn assault.

The surviving family, with the aid of Flemeth, found passage to Amaranthine and fled to Kirkwall.

In order to pay the debt of being smuggled into the city, Hawke and Carver indentured themselves to a mercenary group for a year.

---------

Daylen Amell was a Circle Mage and a Grey Warden who had a romantic relationship with Morrigan during the Fifth Blight. Friends with Alistair, Leliana, and others, Amell enjoyed most of his company. This is in start contrast to born Wynne and Sten, who Daylen clashed with frequently and at times physically clashed with.

Assisting Bhelen's ascension to the throne, negotiating peace between the Dalish and the Werewolves, and saving Redcliff and it's Arl, Amell accomplished much.

During the Landsmeet, Alistair and Anora married, and Loghain, a hero of Ferelden, was spared.

Ultimately, Amell died killing the Archdemon.

-------------

In the aftermath of the blight, Morrigan gave birth to Kieran, Amell's normal, human son. Raising him in the Crossroads and in the halls of the Orlesian Court, Morrigan went to great lengths to protect herself and her son from Flemeth.

Loghain assisted the Arl of Amaranthine in rebuilding Vigil's Keep before continuing his journey to Orlais. The Arl of Amaranthine was responsible for defending both Amaranthine and Vigil's keep from the Darkspawn remnants, as well as sparing the Architect and killing The Mother.

------------

Karas Adaar's magic talents show, and he is taught to control and wield them by his mercenary company's senior Tal Vashoth mage. He spends his life growing up in the Free Marches, happily oblivious to the Qun. As the years go by, Adaar becomes culturally indistinguishable from any other human, elf, or dwarf, in the Free Marches.

-------------

After returning from an expedition from the Deep Roads, Hawke finds his brother has joined the Templars.

In the following years, the surviving Hawke family would move up in the world, and Garrett would frequently assist Anders, Merrill, Aveline, Varric, and Sebastian with their problems.

In late 9:34 Divine, Garrett violently slaughtered the Qunari hordes attacking the city, as well as killing every Qunari, including the Arishock, in Viscount's Keep, with the aid of his romantic partner Isabela.

Learning of the troubles in Kirkwall, Adaar grew to hate the Qunari.

Years later, Hawke and his friends would assist Tallis in infiltrating Chateau Haine although quickly antagonized and abandoned her when learning of her true identity of a Ben Hassrath.

In 9:37 Divine, Hawke repeatedly advocated for mages' interests ultimately approving of the Chantry's destruction and sparing Anders' life.  As her husband Donnic protected Kirkwall's citizens from Templar attacks, Guard Captain Aveline joined Hawke, Merrill, Isabela, Anders, Fenris, and Varric in defending mages and civilians alike from attacking Templars.

Defending many mages at the Gallows, and killing Orisno and Meredith in the process, Hawke and Isabela fled Kirkwall in an attempt to evade forces gunning for their heads.

-------------

9:37-9:41:

Hawke would eventually come into contact with Loghain while investigating a Red Lyrium outbreak and strange behavior by some Templars and Wardens alike. When the Mage Rebellion spread across Thedas, Hawke assisted many Circles in rebelling against the Templars.

9:41:

Interrogated and taken prisoner by Cassandra, Varric feigned ignorance of Hawke's true location.

The Conclave is destroyed by Grey Wardens cooperating with Corypheus.

Adaar is named Herald of Andraste, and later in Inquisitor, despite frequently rejecting any claims to divinity.

Allying with the Free Mages, and gaining the support of many different companions and agents, the Inquistion did much to stabilize Southern Thedas.

Assisted by Enchanter Vivienne, whose pro-mage and pro-Circle ideals Adaar greatly agreed with, Adaar closed the breach and repelled the Red Templars' assault on Haven.

At the same time, Adaar developed a romantic relationship with Josephine.

Joining forces with Hawke, Adaar and in the Inquiston would siege Adamant and defeat Corypheus's demon army in the real world and in the fade. Adaar would leave Loghain behind in the Fade while he, his companions, and Hawke escape back to Adamant. Adaar encouraged the surviving Grey Wardens to stay in Orlais and do what they can to help.

Adaar would later help Gaspard to rule, unopposed, while gaining maximum popularity with the Orlesian Court.

Eventually, after venturing into the Arbor Wilds and drinking from the Well of Sorrows, Adaar and the Inquisition would defeat Corypheus.

9:42-9:44:

In the ensuing 2 years, with the support of the Inquisition, Vivienne becomes Divine.

The Inquisition would go on to stabilize remaining rifts in Southern Thedas, as well as resolving conflicts in the Deep Roads and in Frosback Basin.

9:44-

After foiling a mass-assassination attempt by the Qunari, Adaar declared the Inquisition as servants and Honor Guard of Divine Vivienne, where Adaar would remain Inquisitor, while frequently spending time with Josephine in Antiva.
