I was looking over the leak recently, as one does when one has just finished a complete trilogy replay and finds oneself with precisely zero new Mass Effect stuff to devour, and some specific phrasing jumped out at me, that I'd pretty much skimmed by before:

"Discover new things in the Andromeda Galaxy, like alien artifacts and natural wonders, that serve as trophies and decorations that you can use to modify the look of your character, Tempest and Mako. Photos you take from the far reaches of the galaxy can be used to decorate your starship or sold to certain characters."

Like, I'm specifically quite curious about the idea of finding 'alien artifacts and natural wonders' that we can somehow use to modify Ryder's look--what form could that possibly take? Personally, I'm angling for some kind of sweet alien scarf.

So, in the spirit of my last thread on stuff for Ryder's cabin - trinkets and trophies included - I was wondering what kinds of things you'd like to find to 'modify the look of your character, Tempest and Mako'?

EDIT: Whoops, didn't actually mean to post this so soon--I was fiddling with the title formatting and accidentally hit Enter. My bad.

I could see for the Tempest something that decorates your personal quarters, like that silver orb from the firewalker dlc for example.  Hmm, it seems like some type of armor would make sense for modifying the look of your character or maybe it is also new personal wear for when you are on the Tempest. No idea what that could be for the Mako.

Like diggging up some long dead Alien on some far flung Planet, and finding an ancient ring on its skeletal finger, and taking it to wear for ourselves? That's what I want.

I really like the idea of Ryder and/or Ryder's cabin becoming more decorated over time depending on how much exploring and collecting we've done. Maybe specific things we find can also be gifted to squadmates too or something.

I've heard it from an inside source that there will be somewhere between zero and ten thousand decorative items, make of that what you will

An alien bobble-head doll for the dash and an Edmonton Oilers pennant for the aerial. Maybe some dice on the rear-view mirror.  Oh, and a fake fur steering wheel cover.  Ryder should also never go anywhere without his/her selfie stick. :D

Seriously, I can see the stuff for the quarters being just a bunch of interestingly shaped items of unknown origin or purpose of an appropriate size to go into the same sort of glass cabinet as Shepard had for the ship models.

Ryder will just have to find a signed one on some backwater planet somewhere - you know one that some really "out there" fan took home with him... to Andromeda.  :D

I'd probably have my Ryder be a bit more Starfleet about those alien burial sites, but yup, that's the sort of thing I meant.

I particularly like the idea of being able to give squadmates gifts every now and then--though, I should clarify, I'd want at most one or two gifts per squadmate, with custom dialogue for each; think the 'story' gifts, like Flemeth's tome and so on, in DA: O, rather than the miscellaneous approval-spam stuff.

But that's in addition to the returning ship models, right? Right?

I really hate you right now, because this automatically conjured up the phrase "Jared Fogle Gimp Suit" and now I feel forever unclean.

RyderBro: 'So, sis, where you been these last few months?'

Ryder: *turns around*

YOO  I WAS JUST THINKING ABUT THIS? I was hoping we'd find cool things we can use to adorn our characters with certain things like I would love to find a diadem or ancient forgotten necklace. I feel like it was just add more vaporwave aesthetic.

Would you give gifts to the crewmembers as well?

Any they'll let me talk to, certainly. I'm hoping they plan to continue this trend of expanding the roles of non-combat companions, like Joker, Traynor, Steve and, to a lesser extent, Kelly (oh, and the advisers in DA: I).

It would be cool if throughout the game there was some rare Remnant material to make armour. Like the rare materials in DAI.

I fully intend to fashion an alien's face into a stylish and practical, yet somewhat disturbing, codpiece.

RIGHT?

Ryder needs a hobby... Perhaps making ship models?

Honestly, I was thinking more in the lines of, say, whenever Ryder is given a mysterious "trinket" by someone, the "trinket" is actually rendered in the game, kept in Ryder's cabinet someplace.  Then, when on side missions, there might be clues given that would hint at using one of the items already collected... perhaps necessitating that Ryder physically go back to the cabin and then bring the item with him/her to be used somehow on the planet.  Instead of what was done with Sha'ira's "trinket" - which we never got to see... and yet was just sort of magically in Shep's armor pocket at the "right" moment when he/she encountered the Prothean Ruins on Eletania... sometimes decorative items also have purposes.

Having a souvenir shop made some sense in ME2; but it seems to me it would make less sense in Andromeda at a point in time where we're only just starting to explore that galaxy... and looting children's toys from battlefields where you've probably just finished slaughtering their parents seems just a little... harsh.

Clearly, the best form of trinket that Ryder can claim is the skin of sentient aliens to wear as amazing fashion pieces.
