"Discover new things in the Andromeda Galaxy, like alien artifacts and natural wonders, that serve as trophies and decorations that you can use to modify the look of your character, Tempest and Mako. Photos you take from the far reaches of the galaxy can be used to decorate your starship or sold to certain characters."

Taking photos seems fun. But most likely it is more "stand here, press action button and voilá, you have a professional photo added to you." <_<

I hope we can decide place and time for the photo. that way it is more personal and not a chore and a collection (like the bottles of thedas).

One can hope.

I'd probably have my Ryder be a bit more Starfleet about those alien burial sites, but yup, that's the sort of thing I meant.

I particularly like the idea of being able to give squadmates gifts every now and then--though, I should clarify, I'd want at most one or two gifts per squadmate, with custom dialogue for each; think the 'story' gifts, like Flemeth's tome and so on, in DA: O, rather than the miscellaneous approval-spam stuff.

But, but I love miscellaneous approval spam stuff. It's my favorite. Plus now they come with cheese!  :D

In all seriousness though I really like that idea. If they do gifts that should be unique and also be visible in that crew members area after the gift is given.

Oh, what if we could take hilarious selfies like in GTA 5 or like Dead Rising 4 is going to have? That would be amazing. I would even like if we could manually take our own photos in general, but unfortunately I can see it being more like 'stand here, press button' like you said.

Ryder needs a hobby... Perhaps making ship models?

Honestly, I was thinking more in the lines of, say, whenever Ryder is given a mysterious "trinket" by someone, the "trinket" is actually rendered in the game, kept in Ryder's cabinet someplace.  Then, when on side missions, there might be clues given that would hint at using one of the items already collected... perhaps necessitating that Ryder physically go back to the cabin and then bring the item with him/her to be used somehow on the planet.  Instead of what was done with Sha'ira's "trinket" - which we never got to see... and yet was just sort of magically in Shep's armor pocket at the "right" moment when he/she encountered the Prothean Ruins on Eletania... sometimes decorative items also have purposes.

Having a souvenir shop made some sense in ME2; but it seems to me it would make less sense in Andromeda at a point in time where we're only just starting to explore that galaxy... and looting children's toys from battlefields where you've probably just finished slaughtering their parents seems just a little... harsh.

Oh, that's what I meant too--when I talk about 'trinkets' in the OP, I'm more talking about stuff like the Prothean sphere, your old helmet and dog tags, that husk head and so on. The consort's gift hadn't even crossed my mind, in truth.

While I agree that it'd be a little odd to come across curio shops on all these unexplored planets we'll be visiting - though I do think it'd be pretty cool to shop in some alien marketplace at some point - I'd definitely prefer that they avoided making the souvenirs and so on a massive pain-in-the-arse to find. You should come across them naturally over the course of quests/missions.
