Why is bioware giving the official reveal on N7 day?

I love the franchise and I love strong N7 days. But wouldn't a singular character, maybe a squadmate reveal be better for N7 day?

On N7 day: all the big fans of mass effect who are probably going to buy the game anyway will watch.

On e3/gamescom/other gaming events: many gamers will watch it, including the fans of mass effect who aren't as in-tune and won't know about N7 day. But most of all, the new fans that the series desperately needs to continue to succeed. They can't keep the same audience. They could advertise their exploration by actually showing it to everyone, not just the biggest fans, and grow their fan base.

I just feel like this will not spread as well as it would if they showed it on a more gaming-loving day than just mass effect holiday.

Bioware is under EA. EA wanted their E3 2016 feature to heavily focus on games that are confirmed to be coming out this year. Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 etc etc. Mass Effect Andromeda does not have a specific release date. For now it's under Q1 2017 but that is likely to change as we come closer to the date. Rather than advertise a game that is still in the works, they'd rather advertise games that are coming out soon.

On the other hand, Bioware understands that the lack of information about ME : A is starting to irritate their old fans. Thus as a compromise, they have decided to reveal more about the game on N7 day. While the content of their revelation is still unknown, I doubt their going to show us major gameplay. Most likely they might drop another trailer, talk about the direction the story is taking and reveal some of the squadmates we will have in the games. Nothing huge, but enough to satiate fans until 2017.

Most likely ME : A is geared for 2017, though it might be delayed once more so that EA can advertise it during the E3 2017 instead.

If it is delayed it will be because it isn't ready, not because EA didn't get round to advertising it in time.

It could be both, after all EA wants to make sure that they maximise their profits from these games

I'm still really stuck on this. How many gamers only buy games because the big reveals are shown at major gaming events? The videos get uploaded on youtube and then get shared on facebook and all gaming news sites. We catch watch the demos at our own convenience. Why release at the same time as everyone else where developers have to compete eith everyone and publishers have to compete with themselves?

There was no warning, no reason given when they turned against us. Only delay. Only the N7 day.

With this logic, why advertise your games at all?

Some brands don't need advertising.

When was the last time you saw a Ferrari commercial?

Ye, Ferrarri is such a mass-market brand.

Checked vid game sales numbers?

ME, all together, can't hold a candle to the "Mass Market" brands.

This is definitely informed at least in part by wishful thinking - the wish being that we'll actually get a minor information blowout, as opposed to, like, one decent trailer - but I think the idea is that they want to dominate the gaming news cycle, just for that one day? I mean, they'll be cutting pretty close to the CoD release, but I think that might actually work out in their favour--that close to release, there generally isn't much actual news about a game to report on; at most, there'll just be the launch trailer.

I remember that even the 2015 N7 day 'Explorers' spot - which, while a lovely video that may have brought a tear or two to my eye, didn't really have much substantial going on in terms of news about the game - actually got quite a lot of play on the various gaming news sites, so a Fallout 4-style information dump - with over ten minutes of uninterrupted gameplay, amongst other things - on that same day could actually do quite well, I think. They'll hopefully be able to reach a lot of lapsed Mass Effect fans - and I get the impression there's quite a few of those considering how big the franchise was, at least in terms of mind share, amongst the gaming community back in the post-ME2, pre-ME3 period - and plenty of new people besides.

I mean, think about it; it's been four years since the last Mass Effect game--there'll be plenty of people playing games, and reading gaming news, today who weren't even in the picture back when Mass Effect 3 - much less 2 or 1 - came out.

Do you honestly think that Mass Effect is on the same level as Ferrari in terms of prestige and/or name recognition?

I doubt it really matters much, since anybody interested in gaming enough to pay attention to E3 will probably hear about any big reveal in November as well anyway.

The big hype train ramp up for people who aren't already Mass Effect fans is going to be the marketing campaign leading up to launch.

I just hope they aren't showing us people behind the monitors next time. I have nothing against them, I'm doing it myself sometimes, but I'm watching game trailers not for that.

Peak on skill system, arrived races or asari eyebrows. Anything will do.

N7 day arrives.....

Casey Hudson reappears as an N7 day themed curtain is raised.....

Bwaaaaahahahaha you idiots thought we'd actually make a new game for you, after last time....oh, this is priceless.

No, seriously.

**** you guys.

You want better hair and romance options, go breed with a mop.

You didn't seriously think we'd make a new game for you people, did you?

No, here's a sneak peek at the new IP and I never left Bioware either. We just said that to get the haters hopes up.

I DO change Asari skin tone to red in MP, though. Makes them go faster I believe.

November 8th is clearly the superior choice.

But seriously though, in all the noise of E3 there's a lot of competition for headlines.  Isn't it better to have a day to yourself?

Oh goddamnit... On one level, hey, I wanna play this Mass Effect: Andromeda game thingy really, really badly, so that'd suck...

But on another, oh my god the sheer quantity of salt would be absolutely glorious. And I can't think of a more righteous 'FU haters' moment than the bit with Casey at the end...

No, that's stripes. Making them red makes it more likely for them to get pulled over.
