Andromeda at war (or at least, not very civil).

So, the Milky Way was for the most part, peaceful. Besides the Batarians, (and somewhat the Quarians, Krogan and Vorcha), the different races of the galaxy worked together well for the most part. Battles weren't being fought for dominance of planets or resources. Everyone who wasn't in the Terminus Systems followed the Council, and those in the Terminus Systems just stuck to themselves.

Are we to expect Andromeda to be the same? A council of all the races keeping the peace? That sounds rather boring to me.

What I would like to see is Andromeda fighting a war between two very different factions. Think Alliance and Horde from World of Warcraft. The different races of Andromeda supporting one side or the other. But, just like the races of World of Warcraft, not every single one of the people on the opposing side is an enemy. There are 'good' and 'bad' people on both sides.

As for those coming in from the Milky Way, we are an anomoly. There are many ways something like this could be explored, and it could make for some great stories to be told.

For example, both sides want us to support them. We are divided - some of us want to join one side whilst the others want to join the other, and then some just want to stay out of it altogether. That, in turn, could create division within the Arks, possibly a civil war breaking out among us.

Or, let's say they aren't at war, but there are still two factions and they are civil to each other. We come in as a third faction, and start messing up what those two factions have, potentially causing some chaos and maybe a civil war later down the line.

Well, as always, what do you lot think about something like that. Would you prefer it if Andromeda was like the Milky Way (in how it's governed) or would you prefer something different, like what I've outlined; or maybe something completely different?

There's supposed to be the aggressive khet empire and pirates. Looks like BW already gave us canon fodder.

We are the invading/settling/colonizing force. Chances are that the natives will try and get rid of us and so we must respond appropriately.

But it sounds as though the Khet are just one species (like the Klingons from Star Trek), unless they are pulling a Prothean and just having Khet be the name those races call themselves.

Sorry, no Warhammer type game. That's so 2D.

ME:A is a colony expedition. It's main purpose is to settle humanity somewhere in the cluster. It's NOT an Expeditionary Force sent to support a faction.

Our colonization efforts will pit us against a deadly local cluster race call Khet who are our main enemy and you'll get your "war".... only it's us against whoever is in our way. Since we are a small group compared to the established Khet with a home world infrastructure, we need any advantage we can get. Ryder has no choice but to send exploration missions to find advance tech blueprints left by a "precursor race" and use the tech to offset the Khet advantage "playing in their home turf".

There will be plenty of combat, if that's what you are looking to do.

I don't see myself as an invader. That is not what the ARKs are all about.

From the leaked info, the Khet and local cluster criminal organizations and possibly some internal ones as well, seem to be our

main adversaries (also aggressive planetary fauna).

I know we are explorers first. That fact isn't lost on me.

However, setting off from the Milky Way, we have no idea what Andromeda is going to be like.

We can still go with the plan to find a new home. We would have to do that anyway. But Mass Effect isn't just about our characters story. There are countless other stories to be told. The Mass Effect universe functions just as well with Shepard as it does without Shepard.

Why can't something else be happening in Mass Effect Andromeda that we have little reason to get involved in? It only adds to the universe BioWare are trying to build.

Exactly, we are nothing but humble refugees and have nowhere to go.

It's Khet's own fault for being so greedy. Those who don't feel compassion for poor and homeless, will face orbital bombardment until they are homeless themselves. Those who don't welcome the Ark will welcome Ark's main cannon. We'll be killing them until they understand that our only desire is peace and friendship.

Sounds good to me.  I'd like us to be a neutral force between the two competing sides, but as we colonize we could draw the ire of one or the other, or both.
