For technical support, that is still officially provided by Answers HQ. These forums have not had official tech support for some time.

You can also tweet to the official Dragon Age or Mass Effect accounts with a description of your issue and someone will provide you support, either by reaching out directly or by pointing you to the answer or solution.

The old posts will unfortunately no longer be available after October 25, 2016.

You mean the Answers HQ that is a strictly user-to-user troubleshooting forum?

Or are you seriously prepared to recieve a comprehensive rundown of a technical issue complete with dxdiag split up into several dozens of tweets because Twitter character limit?

What I find especially egregious about the justification of this decision is that they say they interact much with fans elsewhere, but that isn't really true. Look at their Facebook comments and Twitter feeds. There's no meaningful or even casual interaction, just promotion. The extent of interaction that isn't direct pandering is "Thanks!" and "Glad you liked X!" It's entirely substance free. And they suggest Tumblr and conventions as alternatives? It's like they're mocking us. How in the hell are we supposed to use Tumblr like a forum? How in the hell would going to a convention take the place of a discussion forum? The only alternative for dedicated discussion is Reddit, but those subreddits SUCK. They're mostly just pictures of people's merch collections and the rest is usually never game-related at all. It's all very casual and toxic in a way that I think would make the people who complain about the toxicity here faint.

I remember the day my beloved Harry Potter book discussion forum shut down...... :(

Forums are tons more fun than social media.

I hate twitter.

I remember that. Those official forums were actually pretty great, and now there's nowhere for Pottheads to gather online for discussion. It's all scattered about the internet, unorganized and not attracting sizable numbers. There was recently a gathering of Potter fans where I live(a rollerskating party of sorts) and being there made me realize how lame it is that there is no centralized, dedicated discussion forum for the fandom, even though there's still just as much dedication as ever. With a new movie coming out very soon and the second Potter theme park opening(which is also where I live, and also makes me lament the loss of the forum) the fandom is as active as ever. Maybe even more so, since the fans who grew up with Potter and are now adults are very dedicated.

And this is what we can look forward for BioWare's games if they go through with shutting down these forums permanently. The dedicated fans will be scattered to the wind, finding only pockets here and there for discussion.

Well, even if it was expected, this is a crock of ****. Time to say goodbye to some threads and move onto the Vroom Social Network.

Whoever made this decision, I hope you get fired.

Okay, reading over the dialogue for that scene to do that is fine.  It's just... a little bit of rain.

You don't see CDPR shutting down the Witcher forums and many other publishers/devs have their own forums. Paradox are great as are Blizzards and they put a lot of work into theirs alongside maintain social media. It's not like the games are on Steam where they do have a sort of forum, which is helpful for indie devs who can't afford what EA can. Sure Reddit is okay but there's a lot of interesting history and discussion on these forums.

Plus the ability to set up hidden forums for beta testers back during the days of the keep testing before DA:I was out.

Sure these forums can be a bit mad but with proper moderation they can be good.

With regards to betas, we are still maintaining our private boards and may use them in future for special projects or betas. We don't have further information on that at this time, however.

What's your suggestion to folks who don't use reddit, tweeter, or the other stuff? What would you do to get information about your product?

You shut up, that's the suggestion :/

... I am

I only joined the forum/started playing mass effect myself in May... ive only really just got here... and ive already met some wonderful people... people who i havent just bumped into but people I actually think of as real FRIENDS...

... they shouldnt be doing this... and I hope... I beg... that theyll realize their mistake :(

Consider yourself lucky. Some of us have been around for close to a decade, some even longer than that. To us we have loads of memories, good ones, rushing back. Along with the realization that new people like you won't ever have the chance to make good memories like we did.

Actually, you're just as unlucky as us.

Uhhhhhhhhhhh **** if we get too many migrants we may need to rebuild the entire forum to accommodate stuff like that. That's unlikely though. Most will probably just disperse.

At this point a new forum would have to be made to accommodate everything we had here it seems...

EA, you've changed nothing.

BW has the attention of those infinitely hyped.

That which you know as BSN are your fanbase through BW.

You have failed. We will find another way.

Saddest thing I'm realizing right now?

This is the first time in a long time I am absolutely sure a Bioware employee is reading every post in a thread.

I just wish it was under better circumstances.

I hope nobody has any illusions over the fact that this could turn into a 2000 page thread with a ton of well thought out posts over why they shouldn't do this within the next month and people could send countless tweets to people at BW urging them to reconsider, and it will change nothing.

This is such a big mistake. I think many people do not come here for talking to the devs, but to exchange their opinions, ask questions, talk to each other and be creative in ways that no 'social media' site can ever give us in the future.

I'm sad about this decision. I usually did not participate in forums because they bore me quickly, but here... I'm here every day. Every. damn. day.

I love this place, and I've had such a great time here and met cool people. Great to know there will be no place for me to discuss your next games. Well, it was amazing while it lasted.

Why have a place to give nuanced criticism and feedback like forums when you can be on Twitter or Facebook where you just spew oversimplified praises and drivel!

What a joke. BSN was already too strict on allowing criticism and now you're getting rid of it for even more controlled environment to only hear what you want to hear Bioware.

Shame on you Bioware, shame on you.

Bethesda still supports a fan forum.

CD Projekt Red still supports a fan forum.

Why are you giving up competitive mindshare?

Sure, Twitter, Instagram, YT and Facebook are great for one-way marketing, but what about community building fan to fan under your brand? You can't realistically believe that Reddit and Tumblr fill that need. They have their uses, but they also have their drawbacks, as others have stated. I think it's reasonable to claim that no online service is as conducive for fans getting together and building long-term loyalty with your brand and long-term friendships with other fans than this forum.

I encourage anyone who agrees with me to take to social media and say why this forum still has value for you and how your loyalty to the brand is connected to this forum. If you Tweet, use #SaveBSN.

Or have 1,000 Twitter followers?

Or... I was going to use a Facebook analogy, but honestly I have no idea what Facebook actually does, so I can't.

Facebook.  You post really cute pictures and say  ohhhhh I like it.  Or you post a comment and then lose track of it.  <sigh>  I'm going to get more work done now.

You mean you're gonna just scatter us to the winds? I don't want other sites. I want this site. I haven't been here long but even before I joined I came here to read other people's thoughts and opinions, frustrations and delights, arguments and discussions, and it's all helpful. This place is familiar and constant. Now I'm gonna be wandering aimlessly and lost between cold, detached and less wholesome sites. This is THE place. The core. A concentration of like minded folks. Whatever other sites I went to, I always came back to this one for more consistent and in depth reading and discussion.

I don't suppose you could... you know... keep this site up and running anyway? By other means? I mean even if you guys aren't coming here to communicate with us, we can always come to you on Twitter, and relay any news and updates to the others here. Even if we're not communicating with you guys, we're communicating with eachother, and that's of benefit to us. Then there's the Twitter threads for those of us who don't want to trawl through countless Twitter pages to get info. 'Gah' incoming... GAHHHH

I don't suppose someone has a very powerful ring of persuasion?

I'm out of likes, but plenty of posters in this thread are spot on and making good arguments.

I'm gonna SERIOUSLY miss you dude. Over the years I always saw you as one of the big posters here. Notable face, notable personality, notable ideas. I'll always cherish the old days.

Maybe you'll cross paths again one day on some obscure fan site, and embrace as old friends.

Reddit is probably the closest thing to a site that would support any decent discussion but I hate the layout of it.

Yeah that's my feeling as well; its sort of too bad, because there are interesting threads over there sometimes. I just can't stand how the site looks. I like your idea, though (particularly the blackjack and hookers part).

I am certainly not going to be going to reddit, twitter, or tumblr.   Bioware is quite literally devolving into just another no-name company among the masses out there with this particular move.   Way to crush the community that has been built up outside your walls there Bioware.
