You know the funny thing about TLDR, is that you technically did read it, at least, to determine that it was long.

TBH Sometimes the evil ones are the best ones (in terms of entertainment)- sometimes the character with the most fun to watch/play/interact with is the one that wants to watch the world burn with style.

There is nothing wrong with that (in fiction).

*feels like starting penpal romance with prisoners*

Yeah.  A couple of the pure renegade runs I did had a lot of things that were cringe-worthy in a good way.

Reading implies that your brain registered the information. If you looked at the length and nothing else, then you technically didn't read it.

It's good that BioWare is moving on from this forum. I remember suggesting a few months back that the forums should be closed. Although, for reasons different than the ones stated in the OP.

Looking at the last couple pages confirms it's for the best.

Are you serious?

Seems to me about 1/3 of the people on this forum have no sense of HUMOR or haven't experienced very much internets. I definitely attempt to keep myself civil on here but I've made my mistakes (like using a gif with a profane but easily PG rated word and getting a warning point today).

It would have been EASY to at some point, just permaban users that threaten and truly harass and then realize the rest of us are here for information, the discussion, the lulz and the inside jokes.

If you're going to run a public website or do virtually any type of creative work there will be someone out there that crosses the line and insults.

If that is the thing that is causing Bioware to dump this forum that's short sighted and myopic and definitely due to graceless moderation.

A few bad apples is not a reason to get rid of a whole range of things and relationships and communities. Furthermore if you're so dead set on the fact that this forum should just be closed because, idk, you're so sensitive and a poster was petulant, I just feel like you'd be better served by just logging out maybe?

Don't mix up looking at with reading. Stay in school, kid.

Ah, the good ol' renegade path in the ME games, thanks to it I've become desensitized to playing ruthlessly and unethically. Nowadays, I don't even bat an eye with doing things like keeping David in Project Overlord.

I haven't posted regularly since they shut down Off Topic, since they're shutting down the forums I don't see the reason to be civil anymore.

That was sarcasm addressing BioWare's behavior on Facebook and Twitter. I agree with you.

Nefla, I need you to know you are my favorite. My favorite! I have watched you from afar.

So now I'm curious about this part where devs go elsewhere to get fan feedback or discuss BioWare games or such. Do they actively participate as devs, or are they random user names that no one can tell the identity? Because if they are suggesting there are better places to discuss lore, characters, plots, or various quest puzzles and tech issues, I'd really like a more detailed list of where I can find that kind of discussion. We know it's not going to be Twitter with the character limit, and tumblr is more an individual sounding board, so... where? Is it Reddit? Fan forums? I don't know how Facebook can work for this kind of thing, but maybe?

This might be coming across as passive-aggressive, but it really is honest curiosity.

This is about the forums shutting down and not the individual games or merits thereof, it will be lengthy, please forgive me, but I needed to put it here.

My oldest son handed me a copy of Dragon Age:Origins in January of 2010. My NE Druid had nothing to do. She had the latest tier gear and almost 10,000 achieve points including the Loremaster title, which in vanilla, meant completing something like 3,000 quests. She had all the fancy protodrakes from the raids and achieves within those raids. She even killed so many chickens within a certain number of seconds, shameful for a Druid really. Anyway, at the time, I gamed on a Mac.

My husband, at 46, was just diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. I desperately needed something to do...to escape. I poured myself into the game. I then went backward to Jade Empire and forward to Mass Effect. I bought a gaming laptop to become a Founder of SW:TOR because BioWare wasn't going to support Mac. It is crazy, I own DA:O on 4 platforms, the rest on 3, and JE on 2. I have all the books, novels and comics, both digitally and in print. I spent 50,000,000 on a Republic Guild flagship and 50,000,000 on an Imperial Guild flagship, because our guilds were myself, my husband and our three sons. Both ships are fully decorated. Okay, and 35,000,000 on Satele Shan's armor which I will never live down. Obviously that means spending quite a bit of real money on packs and then listing the items on the GTN.

Out of all of it, what I enjoyed most was not seeing my JK in the armor, or walking around the flagships, or creating another Warden, Hawke, Shepard or Inquisitor, it was coming here to the forums to see other players just as passionate about these games.

I am just one person quietly reading thousands and thousands of pages.

My husband lost his six year battle with cancer in January at the age of 52. The thought of all of this not only not here, but erased, makes my heart ache. I don't want to use social media out in the real world...my real world is gone...shattered. I just want to go on quietly reading...

Please, BioWare do not do this.

Deepest sympathies for your loss.

Bioware - you have to realize how much this site means to your fans.

If not a financial burden than let us know what we can do to save this site. If it is a financial burden - many of us may be willing to pay an annual fee to help defray the costs... C'mon

I guess you get credit for consistency and not suddenly being upset about it when you were happy about OT being nuked.

It wasn't "bad behavior" in the general sense of sporadic insults that was my issue for recommending closing the forum but off topic posting. Off topic for the purpose of self aggrandizement or increasing the appearance of social value at the expense of other users and valuable dialogue. This goes with a lack of personal restraint and consideration for other users. Contemplation and speaking with intent in a public environment is important if you want to hear what the other person is saying and not simply your own words and reveling in back slapping.

For the most part, the problem seems rooted in the way different cultures communicate.

BioWare did learn from closing the Off Topic a year ago. They've looked at the data and compared it to their goals. Things aren't balancing. Closure.

If this closure is the best idea they have after making the investment and time to create this community then that really does give pause to think.

Looks like I picked the wrong time to revisit the forums. I guess losing access to my original account (mousestalker) should have been the big tip off. :D

Did you ever properly rub it in the face of that friend who told you no one would even reply?
