Well, it's taken me about 2 days to read through all 119 pages of posts (well that's the number I'm at as I begin writing this and it'll probably be at 120 by the time I'm done), and I can honestly say, I'm tearing up. I've been visiting the BSN for a long while though I didn't actually join the forums until 2014ish, and hearing that the BSN is going to be shut down is just heart-wrenching. I'll certainly never be the most active poster on any forum site, but to even hear that an active engaging community where people can share their views, theories, arguments, mod and tech support (since EA Answer HQ isn't exactly the best way to get help unfortunately), and other fan creations in a place solely for people who share similar passion for Bioware games is going to be removed from existence is extremely disheartening. Regardless of how seemingly toxic the forums have become in the eyes of moderators, hearing of how years of contributions to the community to help other players - not even counting the arguments, lore discussions, and fan creations, is being removed completely feels awful.
The BSN is probably the first and only forum site that I ever actively made an effort to engage in and hearing that forums are being shut down for the reasons cited feels like a slap in the face and reeks of dishonesty given how the alternative ways of communicating to the Bioware fans. The action seems to run opposite to the once unilaterally agreed upon decision about how fans are listened to... and while it certainly doesn't sit well with many players here, I'm probably going to try and not be so bitter about it.
Still, I will always and forever be thankful for the environment provided on these forums that gave me a sense of belonging given how I've never had friends who were just as passionate as I was and still am about Bioware games and am sad to see the forums go. I'm not sure if I'll ever join another forum site to stay connected to any Bioware-game related community though I certainly won't be using the alternatives Bioware has mentioned, but I'm going to greatly miss the BSN and everyone using it. I'll always cherish the laughs I've had from some of the discussions and silly threads here, the exploration and expansion of lore and theories that have made me look twice at things, the annoyance at pyjamas and shards, the sharing of mutual heartbreak caused by a certain elf, the arguments about if there were eyebrows or not, heated discussions that were borderline ridiculous about hair and female walking animations, the anger at poor space vehicles and flat characters, the reading about space boyfriends and girlfriends, the allergic reaction to red, green, and blue lights, and even the stupid feeling to check to see if anyone's responded or liked a post I've made in response to my relatively bad piano arrangements....
BSN, I'm going to miss you and all the other gamers that I've had the fortunate (and unfortunate (ha!)) chance to have crossed paths with dearly and will always have a special place for you in my gaming heart.
