If you were around back in the day, you probably would be crying too. Its hard to see the forum's fall from grace and no matter how many suggestions were made on how to fix it, the decision was eventually made to just shut the whole thing down.

Typical Bioware.

Instead of fixing stuff, they outright remove said stuff.

For quality RPG discussion, there's always RPG Codex, there's even a sub-section dedicated to Bioware games -> http://www.rpgcodex....orporation.105/

Ha ha  ha no!!!

Don't know how to react to this, feel like i wanna scream or cry or both:( i love ya Bioware but wth!?

I hate Reddit,Twitter not my cup of tea except when the game is about to be released or when u guys tease us and that i find first Here as a reference,Tumblr sure it's great for art posting (love to everyone to share that with us).

But yea i come here for the other people as well not to interact with devs if i wanted that i would have come to Reddit in the first place and believe me this is the first time in any game i have played that i really don't care or want to interact with devs. You guys are doing an amazing job already.

I really think u have a great community and the people are really truly amazing here. Please don't give up on us,this has been for me like a second best home to come up to,Love Solas Thread The BlanketFort :)

I apologize for my english, hugs to everyone :( this is really sad...

The problem with reddit is it's not really as easy to navigate, as threads are pretty time-sensitive. Not to mention the fact that you have to sift through piles of fan art in order to find any information about game development. The twitter threads here were absolutely wonderful for staying informed.

The Dragon Age reddit seems to be text only, so no piles of fan art

...this is stupid and saddening.

I don't think Bioware fully appreciates the amount of information found on these forums. Apart from Reddit, you're not going to get the same cohesive community with user-friendly messaging options in places like Tumblr or Twitter or Facebook. The hell?! Wasn't this new forum introduced a year and a half ago?

Early 2014. And that was when they decided to streamline it from the bustling forum that it was before that since 2009. And that was when they decided to add to the forum which existed since...look this place is old.

It can't be that costly to maintain a damn forum.  I blame the toxic haters that used to spam the old bsn with their gifs and memes.

Posted elsewhere

Various concerns

- try having a lore discussion in Twitter's character limit

- sites like Facebook (although you can make a profile with a fake name and stuff I guess) involve a profile which for most people has their real name, location, often job details, etc (concerns about security and privacy)

- I love Tumblr and a lot of the ME/DA community on Tumblr but let's face it a significant proportion of the ME/DA community on Tumblr is downright ugly and toxic

- people who speak other languages ex. French, German wanting a place where they can discuss the games amongst themselves in their own tongue

- not everybody has or wants social media

- losing most of the great discussions/lorecrafting/and so forth that's occurred here. I mean some of us will archive bits of it I'm sure but ???

Not to mention how silly the whole reasoning in the first place is

Like BioWare we don't care the devs don't post on the forums, we're here to discuss the games WITH EACH OTHER and enjoy the community we have here.

Besides how much can maintaining a forum really cost anyway, it's mostly running and server space right (feel free to correct me on this tho)? Especially if you hand moderating responsibilities to fans. It works on Reddit.

^All of this.

I said as much yesterday and years before. Bioware always shuts things down or removes them instead of fixing them and improving them. Its irritating. Especially now.

Bioware is shutting down their own forums? What the hell are people supposed to do when there are issues with the games or The Keep? How are people who play the MP games supposed to keep in touch in a safe public place? This is one of the biggest FU Bioware could do to their thousands and thousands of loyal fans! DISGUSTING!!! And INEXCUSABLE.

I want to post a long rant about this but obviously they don't care. Just screw you fans... we don't want to deal with you unless you are giving us money, after that we couldn't care less.

For any one who cares, I host a Dragon Age Social Site that also has a Mass Effect Section and a huge Off-topic section. Please feel free to come by. It will remain open as long as we have members. At my own personal cost BTW.

https://realdragonagefans.forums.net/

Well, you're about to get a whole lot of new members, I think. XD

Finally, we have removed the Off-Topic boards. We want to keep the conversations on our boards focused on BioWare and our games. Since other communities do exist for such off-topic discussions, we feel it's important to foster conversations within our community that can't be found outside these boards.

Thanks,

The BioWare Team

Shutting down the forums was a simple business solution. There is no way to get that back. But there is a way to make them understand. If they value money, then use that wisely.

- If you plan to buy their games then do not pre-order long before release. Buy it after release or pre-order it 1 day before release.

- If you can hold out longer then wait until the price drops.

- Do not buy cosmetic DLCs like reskinned armor and weapons.

- Do not give in to microtransactions.

And spread the word on other forums and media.

We cannot be silenced.

Oh man, I remember those old forum days. I guess I took this new place for granted assuming I'd always be able to come back for any necessary info or conversations. It still surprises me that a game company well known for the size of its community would eliminate its busy message boards. I'd understand if this place were nearly inactive but that's not the case.

I probably would be yes... this sucks so bad :(

This forum used to be the kind of place where former Bioware employee Christina Norman went into a thread, found nine separate questions of mine from various posts, and answered them for me one by one regarding the in-development at the time ME3.

And eventually it turned into the kind of place where David Gaider's tumblr stated it existed so he could talk to people who would never dare come here.

I don't like 2016, can we re-load a save from November/December 2015 and try again. Maybe try the cheat console.

It's only July, it'll get better... Won't it?

Seriously bioware have shot themselves in the foot. And the hand, back, face and groin. Either they think MEA will be so good they can afford to anger their entire core fanbase beforehand, or their worried and want to prevent any possibility of genuine, well reasoned criticism of a car-crash of a video game...

October 16, 2001. That's when the original BioBoards launched. I joined the next day, but Beerfish (who is also still here) joined on the first day.

BioWare started their own boards because a large BioWare fan community had grown on Interplay's forums (Interplay published BG and BG2). But BioWare was about to sue Interplay (for missing some milestone payments during NWN's development), so they set up their own forum to keep the community alive.

Im so sorry... admittedly im actually crying... ive already made some good memories... bad ones also... but... this is where I spend most of my free time... now its just gonna go... just like that... its so unfair :(

Yeah, if anything this is an important place for a lot of people. I work from home mostly and I really only leave the house in the evenings and on weekends so this has become part of my daily ritual. Even if it sometimes seems like I hate everything BioWare is doing, this forum became part of my daily ritual because I'm more passionate about BioWare's games than any others'. I also like Pokemon, and Kingdom Hearts, and Dark Souls, etc but I don't spend my time talking about those games online because I don't really care that much about them. Our passion for BioWare's games brought us here and this has become our clubhouse. IMO it's not BioWare's to just shut down because they prefer the stunted superficiality of social media. This is a community, not an expense to be cut.

If they do shut these forums down I feel like it will be the definitive point, the climax, in BioWare becoming irrelevant. After that, what makes BioWare special? Without a social aspect what reason is there to really care about these sorts of games? Without the social aspect your choices in these games are just... abstract.

Solas! Do something, fix this!   :(

Fix? It's probably Baldies fault in the first place!

Put up some data blocker between us and the BSN, so we're left in the cold, harsh world without it! Goddamn egghead!
