Concerning Our Forums

You've misconstrued my response. The mod post deliberately characterized the OP as upset, which wasn't correct.
It was a reactionary and wholly-unfounded response to a civil question. I'm still not sure why someone who comes in off the street and asks a question at the reception desk would be perceived as "potentially alarming" to the employees at the company.
Maybe they read the forums....

Bioware doesn't want to expend resources on these forums. That is their right. It's sad that they are ending, but lots of things in life are sad.
For what it is worth, outside of one poster (who spammed the forums with pictures of a dog in a giraffe costume), i really never saw the hate or the vitriol. The areas I used to frequent were often juvenile, but in general posters were fairly nice to each other. There were and are very many helpful posters in the individual game areas. Hopefully Reddit will pick up the slack in that area, but it sure was nice being able to post about a problem and receive confirmation that it was a problem, and even get a fix or two. Several times what i thought was a game issue was actually a player issue and the respondents were able to help me improve how I played the game.
That's going to be the big loss.

Well, I know I'll be watching MEA LPs on YT. I bought DAO Deluxe Edition last year, but that's the last time I gave BioWare money.
Andromeda will be on sale for dirt-cheap a year after its release. That's the EA way: heavily discount the main game, jack the price up for the DLC add-ons.
I'll wait until it hits $15 before springing for it.

Instead of espousing concerns about or otherwise flagging those issues, you're just "omg cesspooling". If you don't care overmuch about the forum, what are you doing here anyway really? It almost comes off as gloating.
I don't condone calling BioWare cowards or having childish tantrums, or abuse or harassment or hostility.
The toxicity thing is just so.. broad-strokes, sweeping generalization, taking the actions of a few and applying it to everyone, disregarding BioWare's part in it with their issues with modding, etc. This forum has plenty of members who are nice, polite, friendly. I'm someone who might be described as being the "warmfuzzyTumblry"-type by others on here and I don't think this forum is "toxic". Toxic people are everywhere. They won't go away with the forum's deletion, they'll go elsewhere. There are cesspooly parts of Twitter. There are cesspooly parts of Reddit, Tumblr, YouTube... Just like how some patches/folk on the BSN aren't great either. Yet BioWare recommends these sorts of sites as replacements! A few people are the problem, not the forum. This is an important, helpful community for loads of people, and any forum will have a percentage of trolling/mean behavior. The problem isn't in how I see the forum. You get out of a forum what you put into it.
I was here when the forums were generally level headed and criticism was actually discussed without the constant hostility and attacks that you will find here now. Criticism and disagreement used to be handled maturely, but the level of posting had declined to the point where most people I met before on this forum no longer post because it is a terrible atmosphere unless you are in a group or hide in a select few topics.
1. You don't understand what the word "indisputable" means. This is literally the exact opposite.
2. You are the problem. Some level of negativity is human nature. 95% of us deal with it. The other 5% think their paper mache skin is everyone else's problem. You are that 5%.
As evidenced by this post, which offers nothing but an insult and drags the tone of the site down with the childish hostility. This is what Bioware forums has become these past 4 years. This type of posting is not the exception. Some may not like it, but this place is toxic. It has been for some time. But keep personally attacking me or insulting or being condescending in the dismissal of my point.... It is only proving the toxicity, not showing how wrong I am.

Daily reminder about Cyonan's efforts to rebuild BSN:
The New BSN
And here are three other forums to consider moving to.
Top Shelf Gaming
Vroom Social Network
Real Dragon Age Fans
You can always join multiple forums, if you don't want to make a choice. I'm a member of the first three, though I'm mainly active on TSG.
It's nice to have options. It's just...difficult...to make a switch you know? People can call these forums 'toxic' all they want, and yeah, there were some bad apples here to be sure, but for the most part, in my experience, it's been a pretty cool place. Granted, for the longest time I have only really ever posted in one thread, but over in that thread, though we might disagree at times, we always do so for the most part respectfully. At least that's the way that thread has been recently.
As I said, it's difficult to make a switch when you have devoted a lot of time to a particular place, especially when that switch is being forced on you.

The idea that the toxic trolls and jerks won't just pop off to all these Other Sites is kind of funny. In truth, it's people like myself who will now only visit gaming sites on rare occasions that will end up leaving the gaming community. The trolls will make accounts and continue on as usual in all those other places, and there's only so far and fast you can run until there's nowhere left to go to get away from the nasty icky meanies.
And if we are then told that Other Sites will moderate and ban the jerks better than this place did, well. Seems it was a moderation issue and not a "toxic cesspool forum" issue. Hard to believe the whole of the community here is being blamed for that failure.

So woohoo that it's being deleted then, because you personally don't like it anymore, regardless of the masses of other folk who still like and use and benefit from the forum and the community here and don't think it's "toxic"? ![]()

I feel like people who call these forums toxic have never seen truly toxic communities. 8chan, Niche Gamer forums, Most MMO or MOBA forums, **** reddit says, Hell any steam game forum currently in controversy.

I wish it wasn't going away. I wish there was some way to rid it of the trolls and toxicity. But it hasn't happened in 4 years and the mass exodus of posters over that time has led to a forum with much less overall activity, and what is left generally is not too fun to take part in. Sure, there are some threads where the old level of intelligent discussion still occurs, but for every one of those there are 10 threads either created simply to vent about some perceived slight from Bioware or simply filled with bickering and lame back and forths that contribute nothing.

Don't partake then. Nobody's making you.
What? Like, just let other people enjoy something and ignore it yourself? Not apt to burn everything that isn't of value to you personally? What kind of person would do that?!

That sounds like a lack of moderation, no?
Pointless, nitpicking threads never personally bothered me. I'm a grown ass adult and if something isn't to my liking then I pass it by. The thread would die out, sometimes within in a matter of hours and it would become just another blip on the screen which had absolutely no effect on my experience in the BSN whatsoever simply because I made the choice to not let it have an effect.

Considering the kinds of "offences" that were the cause of what few warning points I have gotten over the years, I wouldn't be surprised to receive a ban for making such a vicious and toxic personal attack.

One of my favorite Youtubers recently created an official subreddit. Yeah, it's a safespace, yeah, it's a hugbox, but it's working, and the Youtuber in question is interacting with his fans again. Why? Because the moderators are doing their jobs over there. Shame they couldn't here.

There moderation worked for years til the general Internet mentality took over. Should they have prepared and modded better? Yes, but that wouldn't stop it anyway. Other forums have much more strict moderation and yet all people do is create alts to continue to troll and gimmick post and flood the forums with their crap.
Bioware gets a little blame, but it is the general entitled attitude of the community that has led to this forum being burnt to the ground.
