Take a look at the posts in this very thread... A lot of lashing out at Bioware, insults at Bioware, blaming everything on Bioware... That has been the general tone of this forum for years now. If I wanted to discuss Andromeda or Inquisition in a positive way and not outright having to constantly defend against condescending posts as to why I am optimistic for ME or enjoyed Inquisition, it would not be here.

Honestly, I don't get why some are still even here since all they do is complain about how Bioware has failed them for years now...

Way to be selective in what you choose to address. People are reacting in different ways, some are sad, some are angry. I don't like personal trips and Bioware bashing for the sake of it but at the end of day everyone who ever cared about this forum is extremely disappointed with the company. I am still pretty gutted about all of it myself. This is why when I see others who come to this thread and rub it in my face, my only reaction can only be: Really? Weren't you complaining about the atmosphere in here a moment ago?

I just don't see anything constructive in being happy when someone else is clearly unhappy or coming and saying that this is clearly my fault, since -in some bizarre way- I allowed it to happen, that I was having too comfortable bsn existence when some guys decided to be douches about something somewhere on the forum. I feel sick thinking about all of the good things that will cease to exist when this forum goes down. I cannot be happy about this decision or agree with it on any level. Just no.

MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

I don't think the forum heads truly realize how much this place does mean to some people.

Without the BSN, I would never have played Mass Effect at all. I honestly had dismissed ME as BioWare trying to do their version of CoD in space. The advertising left that impression, with Sheploo glaring at the camera and no mention of the RPG aspects anywhere in most of the mainstream advertising. It's not my cup of tea, so I ignored it. It wasn't until I started talking to the fans here that I learned what the ME series was. It was the fans on this site that got me into the ME series. Not twitter, not tumblr (didn't even know what tumblr was until I joined this site,) not facebook, not reddit. Here, on the BioWare Forums.

Edit: This was in May of 2014, so I'm a rather new ME fan.

Not only that, but I wasn't trashed by the fans because I enjoyed the game. I was welcomed and encouraged to share screenshots, little things (try talking Garrus out of killing Sidonis after allowing him to kill Saleon) and had a truly dynamic gaming experience. I'd stop playing the game and come on to the forums to geek out.

Again, without this site, I would not have become a Mass Effect fan. I would not have spent the money for all three games, all of the story DLC save Omega, two appearance packs and the real life N7 hoodie if it wasn't for the BioWare forums.

Look, if the forums have become too unwieldy, I can get that. I'm an adult, and I can handle that. If the forum heads are tired of trying to deal with the constant negative reputation and want to shut down the forums, I understand that. It can be hard to see the reasonable posters with the very loud minority of trolls clamoring for attention. However, trying to push people into social media or fan sites because it allows for "better" communication is a bad excuse.

Twitter is not a good place for a conversation. It just isn't. Tumblr isn't great about that either, and trying to navigate that site is a pain in the keister. The ME and DA subreddits are massive and threads get very quickly lost in the shuffle. Youtube was mentioned and er...not exactly the best place to have a constructive conversation. There is a reason why the bigger youtube channels have their own forums these days. And Facebook? Seriously? That's not a place to go for an open and public conversation. That's for quick comments, pictures and seeing who from your high school class got fat.

Agreed 110%. I love the games and I love analyzing the hell out of everything. One time I did an entire playthrough of ME3 just to search everything for a copy of that warning sign by the kid in Vancouver. I wanted to know if it was unique (it was, BTW) so I spent 60 hours just on that. Time well spent!

Oh, I love analyzing and reading analytic posts.

Discussions can be a neat way to study and analyse the lore and characterization more in-depth because of how you use it to build arguments and counterarguments. I remember a discussion thread about the Qun where I really ended up diving into Sten's dialogue and really taking note of the choice of words used by him. I loved doing this kind of thing in school and heh, maybe my Danish teacher would be glad to know I continued to do so.

I love reading fan theories; I've even discovered that I was right about a couple of things such as Flemeth having a connection to Mythal. I'm holding my fingers crossed that my theory about the Forgotten Ones = Old Gods turns out to be true.

same reason why you're still here when all you're doing is bashing the community and saying how it's been awful for years now.

potkettle bruh, it black

To a degree, complaining about how the BSN isn't the way that YOU want it to be is a sense of self entitlement in itself.

The BSN isn't perfect, I think we all know that. That's where self moderation comes in. It's not like it's a hard thing to avoid the discussions that one might find personally irksome as there are a heap of amazing threads all ready for you to dip your feet in.

So agree. Kettle-black-pot etc.

Sounds like a pretty healthy reaction from people who are being forced out a community they've loved for possibly a decade, with pure doublethink PR-speak premises.

"You're evicted and we're destroying the community. We're doing this because we like to spend time in other places, not here. You are important to us. Your feedback, stories, and love for our games drive and inspire us.

There have never been more ways for us to connect. We'll continue to seek out opportunities to interact and share."

You know what.... Just continue your little victim flag waving. I'm done with the childish twisting of what I say just to dismiss my posts. Typical for this forum. Thank you for proving me point. You may continue your ranting without interruption now.

You're actually coming off in the exact negative manner that you've been complaining about in your posts.

People don't agree with YOUR personal opinion, so instead of trying to see it from multiple POVs you pack a mini hissy-fit. I get where you are coming from in your posts, as I've said, the BSN isn't perfect. But the way that you've just conducted yourself, to me, is exactly the kind of behaviour that you view as bringing the BSN down.

Really, is asking to see someone's face too hard. There are so many "hide helmet" mods, but they didn't work on her.

Still, to close the whole forum, does that really seem reasonable, to anyone here? Ranting or no? I think not.

I was joking, but the original campaign to make a character that the lore at that time stated would probably die if they took their helmet off shaggable was a bit worrying at best. I suspect I worded that sentence quite badly.

Oh come now "everyone" knows that BioWare is known for their face and hair aesthetics. Now, you are just being silly.

Well, maybe not their armor or I wouldn't have spent 35,000,000 on Satele's. My SW's in Exar Khun's, it was only 300K well okay, plus 5,000,000 for the Black/Black dye.

Carry on, forums.

I really like that people are also complaining she's not available for FemShep. ... I'm not sure how to explain this without getting graphic... Okay, you know how the stomach is absolutely teeming with beneficial bacteria that are essential to its normal operation? It's not the only part of the human body like that. BroShep is dangerous as hell to a quarian. FemShep is an elaborate suicide.

Poor Karl. It's amazing, that quest was made just to show us how monstrous tranquility is and how willy-nilly the Chantry is about doing it. Yet I remember on BSN there were people complaining they couldn't stop Anders from, and I quote, "murdering that poor tranquil fellow." Wut?!Still only the second most disturbing tranquility scene IMO.

Especially since I am using Ali Bengali's amazing face mod for Karl, absolutely heartbreaking. Don't worry though...I will always FREE THE MAGES. Ser Perth's voice incoming..."Perhaps"...I shouldn't go there.

Wow, I was silent and now I want to sing, or maybe I just want another kiss from Aveline...who knows.

You know what is even more heartbreaking...closing these forums...Please Scotty, beam me away before this happens. Take me to Andromeda, I am done with the Milky Way.

Sweet Nyarlathotep, I hate that. Of all the groups I disagree with on all the issues I disagree with them on, those people are the ones I understand the least. A galactic invasion fleet of Outer Gods has come to wipe out all advanced life in the galaxy through the most tortuous means, and some people only care about their romance. "EC is great, it totally fixed the endings!" "What?! It still contradicts the entire trilogy, the Reapers--" "Yeah but I got an epilogue for my waifu!" and I'm just tumblr_mht5oljr7a1qexr74o2_r1_500_zps31a

I'm still in a daze about this decision. Guess I always thought BSN would be here, for me to return to the fold, to read to my hearts content about everything I ever could care about in the lore.

Just realized today when I fired up my laptop that I've had a lock screen and wallpaper that is Bioware derived for over five years on all of my computers and phones even.

Also realizing that while I'm a huge die hard fan that this feels like a betrayal even though tomorrow was never promised and it is impacting how I feel about gaming moving forward. (I was tinkering with the idea of building a high end PC to triple play both IP's modded to the hilt...I do not know if I want to do that now).

Never liked Aveline. No matter how saintly you are, she's self-righteously and belligerently on your ass for not doing more. And the way she's the only one who doesn't take any personal responsibility at her failure in the Fade is just disgusting. Everyone else, even Fenris, is all "I can't believe I was so weak!" Aveline's just "I'm the bestest everest so if I fell, that means everyone else will, so the Chantry's genocide is pretty acceptable!" Ugh. I wish there was an option to just leave her in Lothering or go your separate ways for good once you're in Kirkwall.

Compulsory watching of mean tweets Youtube videos should be made to those who want to close BSN to facilitate better communication, if they think things here are nasty and toxic, boy they have not seen anything, Twitter will make them cry

Plus, negative comments are harder to monitor if this community is outsourced. In here BW representatives can respond directly to criticisms and deal with fall-outs quickly, I highly doubt Facebook and Twitter can do a better job
