Lol, nice one. Daffy's my favourite Looney Tunes character, and also a reference to my favourite Babylon 5 character, Garibaldi. But growing up in the 80s and 90s has forever shaped my view of cartoons, TV shows, films and comics. Games on the other hand, my golden period is more 97-06.

R.I.P. Jerry Doyle. His was one of my favourite characters on the show too. One of the reasons I got into Mass Effect was because it reminded me so much of B5. And along with the Reapers, the Shadows are my 'favourite' species of terrifying, ancient, eldritch abominations.

Under Karpyshyn's watch, scientists were praising Mass Effect's adherence to real science and in 3 you can jump in a big green beam to make everyone in the galaxy an abomination.

Yeah, but the people praising ME's adherence to real science were fools.

I agree. I have a sneaking suspicion that they are are in some pretty desperate financial straits.

Wouldn't they only be at a crisis if papaEA deny them money, or cut their budget significantly? Closing a forum and deleting is too radical. and if they are that stage, ME:A is indeed in deep trouble.

I wouldn't be surprised. Every time someone in a position of power leaves the company, I hear assurances that "this is fine - it's all part of the normal development process!"

After the underwhelming EA Play demo and this, I wouldn't be surprised if they're hemorrhaging money and EA has them on a very short leash.

The "other communities" in question are subreddits, Twitter hashtags, and Tumblr blogs. Of course, none of these are as good as having a dedicated forum. Subreddits are policed and moderated by nobodies who usually never adhere to their mod policy, Twitter is a joke, and Tumblr is Tumblr.

Basically, it boils down to the devs only wanting the feedback that they know will be praise, because they have frail egos.

Bahahahaha I lost it at "tumblr is tumblr"

I have been a member of some form of Bioware message board since the KOTOR days.  This is sad, but not unexpected.  forums like this seem to be dying off.  I wish Reddit used a better format (seriously, reddit?  wtf?).  Twitter sucks and even after all this time, i still can't navigate it 100% efficiently.  Forums are a good place to consolidate, but I guess that's not what EA wants.

Thanks for the memories, Bioware  :(

Just because it's above your head doesn't mean it's not real.

P.S. I said "scientists." You don't get to second-guess scientists on science.

Wouldn't they only be at a crisis if papaEA deny them money, or cut their budget significantly? Closing a forum and deleting is too radical. and if they are that stage, ME:A is indeed in deep trouble.

That's what I mean. EA cutting their budget to ribbons.

Either that, or they absolute hate us with a passion (lul, 'course they do). I still think the reason is they can't stand the criticism anymore or they are super biased against this community in particular.

I find it a bit weird that they're closing now and not after DA:I was done as it was suggested in previous comments. But maybe just recently they figured that they couldn't stand this place any longer and decided to apply the "final solution".

The issue might not be the forum right now , but what might happen when MEA release.

But honestly who knows?

We'll never hear what was said behind close doors. We may get some people to spill the beans in a couple of years.

Like the whole thinking of closing down the forum when DA2 was released.

No, this was not a monetary decision. It also was not an easy one for us to make.

We understand that there are people who use and love these boards. And like them, we are sad to see them go. However, many of our players and staff now use other sites and networks outside of these boards, and we want to foster these interactions and support the great fan communities our players have built.

As always, we are committed to our players, and will continue to seek out and solicit their feedback. All of you are why we make games and what we love about gaming. This is the end of an era, but we will always, always listen to our players.

No offense, but try to imagine reading this statement as somebody who does not work for Bioware.  It sounds like lies.

Why not invest the time into actually cleaning up their forums, running them properly and putting effort into connecting with fans on THEIR OFFICIAL FORUM SITE. Honestly this comes off as lazy, disrespectful to their entire fanbase and gives the impression that they don't know how to run anything or particularly care how to. And like has been mentioned many a time already, twitter is not designed for in depth conversation, neither is youtube or tumblr. Bioware has fractured their fanbase and has effectively made it even harder for them to directly and clearly communicate with us. Not everyone uses reddit or other forums, besides, this one was official so we knew where the info was coming from. smh this is really frustrating :/

Concerning our forums...........nice spin Conal, except it feels more like you're doing this to us.

And you talked *bleep* about my moderators, there's a time and place for everything (well, except maybe that) way to set an example for your forum.

Only if you're mentally challenged yourself. Oh goody. Ye I'd rather my occasional craziness be an optional voluntary thing, not something switched on 24/7.

But hey, more power to ya. Ignorance is bliss.
