Why contain it? Let it spill out into the streets. People need to know.

By the way, have you guys seen the Glassdoor page for Bioware (http://www.glassdoor...iews-E22998.htm? What a hoot. Sounds like the place is circling the drain.

Just wanted to bring this up again.

Holy hell, most of those reviews do not sound promising. Most people is mentioning that there's a huge political factor, and unless you are friends with someone on the top, you're a nobody. And they seem to be really closed minded.

The site insists I sign in / sign up to continue checking reviews (not gonna happen), but for what I can see it's a downhill. At first they had a positive image, but latest reviews are bringing up the negative points I mentioned above. Downhill indeed.

Not looking good at all.

I need to catch up on things, I've missed this. There was a leak about ME3 development and people figured out it was Weekes who was the source?

From what I've gathered "allegedly" Mr Weekes was posting on a somewhat popular forum , he had an alias but it was known it was him.

After the ME3 ending , "allegedly" he posted his version of what happened with ME3 ending."allegedly" Casey Hudson and Mark or Matt Whateverhisnameis (lead writer guy) wrote the ME3 ending all by themselves and refused peer review.

"Allegedly" Mr Weekes said in a very diplomatic manner the ME3 ending was crappy.

When the story hit internet and the press jumped on it Bioware went on full Deny all the Thing mode.

They care. They care about our money, and our credit card info. It's just our company they can't stand.

They stopped providing us with company long ago.

What they're taking away now is our platform; a public venue with the legitimacy of the BioWare name behind it where we can gather information.

Now there shall be no such place.

Thing is PW kept putting his foot in his mouth after ME3 release fiasco. For example, Thane fans were upset that he was forgotten after the Citadel Coup, ya know when he gives his life to save the Council and is totally forgotten by every notable npc afterwards, so they asked PW about it and what did he say: Sorry, well I didn't write Thane but he was forgotten about because he got lost in the whole  attempt to manage the various story/character outcomes of ME 2 a "drawback of large writing team" (something like that). Subsequent fans/fangirls asking him to clarify later on were blocked by him.

Also, they said his account on Penny Arcade was hacked, but wasn't that disproved by the sites admin?

Yah, that's true, too.  They could be shutting down the forums because they've had so many leaks in the past.  As soon as it enters "beta" phase (which none of us ever see), someone invariably posts links to the script.  Then they have to go in and rewrite, tweak it, and just overall do all of the facial animations over again.

It never ceases to amaze me that people love Elf Hitler but everyone hates Anders.

Anders is the protagonist in DA2. One of the big reasons (and there are many) why I disliked DA2 was that I wanted my character to be doing what Anders was doing. Anders got to be the one with vision and ambition, and all Hawke got to do was react.

Having been here since around DA2's release, I can say that both of them have always been like that. They weren't embittered by the trolls, their attitudes are probably what made a lot of people troll.

Furthermore, people representing a business are expected to conduct themselves with some degree of maturity. Minimum wage employees at Wal-Mart and McDonald's are held to professionalism standards and they have to put up with all sorts of abuse. They definitely aren't allowed to take out their frustrations on the customer base as a whole. These excuses that they shouldn't be held to the same standards are minimum wage grunts is an asinine excuse.

DA2's release wasn't so long ago.

In the long development of DAO, from 2004-2009, this was a great place to interact with devs, both writers and non-writers. Lots of them posted here. And they were nice. Mary Kirby in particular was hilarious. The writers would even have conversations with each other out in the open where we could read them. They'd answer questions (explaining to me why DAO didn't insert <CHARNAME> into dialogue like NWN did, for example - the answer was localization).

When I first met Gaider online, he was working on BG2 and posting in character as Jaheira on the old Interplay forums. It was terrific.

this isn't the place to bring up all of DA2's many failings, we have forums here and splinter groups for that.

With that said.

DA2 is garbage.

True, it was pretty terrible.  However, I still believe it had the potential at least, to be the best in the franchise with some of it's more unique ideas.  It was just potential that was not even close to being realized.

Ah, the good old days when people were actually passionate about making good video games instead of gender politics and "White tears" cup collections.

The ME3 story leak came from a beta of the demo that was leaked on XBox Live. Enterprising dataminers got in and found everything. It circulated through tons of sites - NeoGAF was probably the biggest offender until EA stepped in and levied a C&D order at them.

No! Not my precious 24.5K posts and all my likes! DON'T TAKE AWAY MY LIKES!

Is it silly that the likes going away is one of the things that bugs me the most about this?  Lol, I was happy that I had a little more than at least 1 like for every two posts I made.  *sighs*  I need to get out more.......I'm not gonna though.  :P

Huh.

Didn't know that, as I didn't really "read" these forums until well after ME3 released.  But good to know.

They probably blocked you.

*snip*

The're probably not used to getting so many tweets from one user at a time so it'll probably take some time for them to answer.....and then they probaby block you for spamming (because 18 tweets).

I'm sure you're both right, but it really doesn't matter if they block me now. How will I know if they blocked me? If I try to tweet them again (unlikely) do I get a message or does my tweet go into that great cyberspace void?

I'm not a twitterer? or is it tweeter? Whatever. Like I said, this brought my total up to a whopping 24 tweets. I am so untwitterfied. I think I'll keep it that way.

What we are witnessing is probably the final stages of Bioware's long term business strategy under EA which is shifting the focus completely on mainstream audience.

The community represented on this forum is irrelevant. You might even call it a liability. Because, as long term fans of various franchises we would probably not  going to be happy of what is about to come and would want to raise our concerns like we have done before. The depth, the maturity and the constructivity of those possible concerns are also irrelevant because we are not the target audience. Therefore, why would you want to run and maintain a community which would only be a center of resistance and a source of negativity on your desired path ? In fact, you won't even be targeting them in the first place.

The target audience they are shifting is different. They follow the next big thing, they follow the trend. They are not after substance. They are not looking for in-depth analysis, lore discussion, strategy, theorycrafting or even giving feedback and such. They probably will move to the next big thing before even consuming the current one. All the things this community offers are not needed by them. Strangely; as the products from now on will probably cater much more to this audience, we will also not be needing any of it because there won' t be much material for us to discuss anyways. See ? Nothing to be upset about :) Any platform able to adress a couple of technical issues and deal with an odd non sensical question, suggestion or a joke  from time to time is enough.

On my part; it was and it still is sad to see a genre defining studio transforming into its current state. But what can we do about it ? It is their call after all. Wish them the best of luck on their new path...

So the EA corporate overlords are striking again, by killing another company, because shutting down the forums is the 1st step in shutting Bioware down.  Sooo...DA4....still happening?  All original creators of the franchise have already left Bioware... :crying:

The strangest complaint is from someone who has an issue with them speaking a combo of English and Polish so they feel left out. And I have to wonder, why move to Poland to work without learning how to speak the language? This person been there for three years. Plenty of time to learn unless Polish is massively difficult to learn.

Well, english is considered in many cases the "universal language" (and that's coming from someone whose english is not his 1st language). So probably many people think if they speak english, they don't really need to learn any other language (which is selfish, I agree).

On the matter of how difficult is polish to learn as a language, I remember reading somewhere that is one of the most difficult languages to learn actually.

This one is entirely on Bioware.

No other EA game is losing its official forums. In fact Bioware Austin is keeping SWTOR's forums on line, so the decision to nuke the BSN seems to have come from the studio (Edmonton?) responsible for running it.
