It's okay BioWare, I've supported your games like you've supported your forums,
and I'll keep doing just that!
Go back to sleep now, BioWare, it's cool. Other companies are making great games now.

I was genuinely planning for the forums to get me hyped for Andromeda, after I kinda lost my steam after DAI. I don't claim to speak for any number of players or anything, but I do think this is going to cause me to wait until MEA is found in the bargain bins, it's just gives off such a bad vibe, since lore and talking about is is such a big part of why I liked BW games in the first place. No way to do that on social media.
Welp, guess I'll be buying that Skyrim remaster after all.
Like virtually every other fellow forum user has said, I don't come here because I expect to engage with Bioware developers. I do it because I want to speak and argue and have fun with fellow fans.
This is where the chemical composition of Tali's sweat was analysed, this is the place where the Miranda fans got into a civil war and managed to close the entire Companion forum, this is the place from which we sent red-blue-green muffins to Bioware HQ while everyone was using a "X deserves a better ending" banners. It is from here that we all but write essays on worlds that don't exist.
And, quite frankly, some of the other places suggested are plain and simply toxic. Tumblr for example and a great number of the people who come here just don't have a full array of social media, never mind trying to debate anything on Twitter and its 140 words limit.
Good luck trying to discuss any Bioware-related topic there.
It's pretty easy to do actually, and a number of people on there even like BW games.

Yeah, that's another thing... these forums were, overwhelmingly, one of the few spaces where a reasonable discussions could still be held without devolving into puerile "**** EA, **** Bioware, **** SJWs, **** PC agenda" garbage. There is SO much undeserved and irrational hate out in the larger wilds of the internet, and while some of it did certainly leak in from time to time, the BSN still felt like one of the 'safer' places to actually indulge in discussion both meaningful and entirely, frivolously, giddily meaningless, without facing the same judgement and harassment as on other outlets. It's a shame that Bioware themselves don't seem to understand or see the value in that.
Which is why I find this news especially alarming. Forums are a big part of a successful multiplayer community.
Looks like they're hoping reddit will do their job for them.
Preemptive measures before ME:A release ![]()
Does it have to do with manpower (and womanpower)? Maybe you could ask some fans who are here most of the time to moderate for you? Idk how that would got tho.
I'm just looking for a solution.
I've had some great fun here, even though I am rather new. I got into Mass Effect in the summer of 2015, looking for some game to play after my exams were done. I picked up the trilogy and I am here now. Never had I loved games enough to go onto a forum and just talk about that game all day long.
"Why do all good things come to an end?" ![]()
Devil's advocate, the Guild Wars 2 subreddits are widely considered to be better than the official GW2 forums. So there's a precedent for the multiplayer aspect.
Lore discussions really suffer on Reddit, though. The /r/dragonage community does have lore discussions, but as soon as they fall off the front page, the accumulated knowledge is more-or-less lost. There are many more one-time or occasional Reddit users, also, so it's hard to form a collective memory of what's been discussed.
Fair enough on the first point.
Agree 100% on the 2nd point. Also want to add that the "up-vote/down-vote" system is awful for meaningful discussions.
Well, I suppose it's only appropriate to bring back this old comment as I somehow knew I'd need it again

These are horrible news indeed. This was the only place where you could discuss everything about Bioware games, from Tali's sweat to story design.
Youtube is no place for discussion, and real discussions can never happen on twitter. State an unpopular oppinion or just ask a stupid question and you will be burried under downvotes. Twitter discussions? Tumblr discussion? I dont know if you're serious or trolling at that point.
That such a huge company has monetary problems is horrible news, especially considering there is a game in development at the moment. Who knows what will be cut from it to save some extra money, resulting in long term loss of profit. Well good luck everyone I guess. It was a pleasure, and people were very friendly here.
Well, I know one thing;not everyone at Bioware's gonna be happy about this.
Got to be employees out there that care enough to be disappointed by this.
Jos would post here from time to time. His posts were funny.
What a lovely looking forum! Adding it to my bookmarks!
Bookmarked it myself for later.

I hope everyone here shows Jesse Reid the love he deserves for being the one employee who never left the forum. Like, no cheeky insults or trying to be funny, I mean genuine appreciation for his dedication to this place.
October 16, 2001. That's when the original BioBoards launched. I joined the next day, but Beerfish (who is also still here) joined on the first day.
BioWare started their own boards because a large BioWare fan community had grown on Interplay's forums (Interplay published BG and BG2). But BioWare was about to sue Interplay (for missing some milestone payments during NWN's development), so they set up their own forum to keep the community alive.
I never posted pre KOTOR, but I played BG, BA2 and NWN..., so I would go on this forum and read, find answers to questions and see what was going on. They started my interest in game sites KOTOR sucked me in totally.
I don't think I have ever seen a more transparent attempt to quell criticism.
maybe they are anticipating a backlash from ME:A as well
I'm making a video with my thoughts about this :/
good man! loads of good points to pack in there
