Bioware's marketing has been bad for freaking ever.

Lets not forget, "FIGHT LIKE A SPARTAN!"-DA2

Or those episodes of whatever where Bioware people are interviewing other Bioware people and made it look like the most cringeworthy stuff you could possibly record

Mass Effect 3 "YOU CAN START WITH THIS ONE, ITS A GREAT PLACE TO COME IN TO THE FRANCHISE"

Yeah, the terrible end as opposed to the great games that came before

How about Casey Hudson who went on Twitter and was like, "I read Mass Effect Deception, its a great book" when it was in fact the greatest insult to the intelligence of a Mass Effect fan up until the ME3 ending, perhaps even worse than the ending.

Then Bioware had the audacity to say they'd fix the book in later versions, which they never did.

Or how when the Bioware Bazaar thing blew up in their face they said they'd do global equivalents later, which they never did.

Bioware marketing sucks.

Really? I have been told that it is responsible for the increased sales for DAI, after the complaints were made of DA2, and allowing it to win GOTY. But then again, many folks like to be on both sides of an issue by straddling the fence.

I actually cried a little.

Liking because

1. 1000 likes to give out a day

2. Nice to hear it moved you

Not because I like you crying. :P

Still stupid. You'd think if you're giving out copies of the game this way you'd ensure they'd land somewhere where people could retrieve them.

Might as well dropped them in a volcano.

I don't really see what the problem is. The point of the whole thing was the randomness of where they'd land. That's what made it fun to watch; remember, this is a marketing scheme. And on the player side, it's like a lottery ticket. If you didn't like your odds in the lottery, then you could just sit it out and buy a copy like anybody else.

I never saw the point of it being where they landed, but rather the point being that a fan got to them and got to take the game home early.

And with that not happening more than once, it defeated the purpose.

I totally forgot about the Bazaar! What a time to be alive that was. You couldn't have made it up, nor the PR disasters to follow.

After a perfect record since 2009, I'm almost curious to see how many warning points I can rack up from this one thread alone. #honeybadger

Feel the same way. Zero warning points for years then 2 in the same day.

I had one warning point, that simply would not go away, to my eternal and lasting shame on my original account. Then I lost access, created a new account and have no warning points. I have no friends, no likes and no record of posts, but I do not have any warning points. Yay?

Oh well, in a few weeks none of this is gonna matter.

Right now what I need to be concerned about is whether I should extract and archive my posts bashing synthesis, yep, still quite proud of them even if they were not well written

Warning points were supposed to go away after a year or so but they never did. Yet another example of this forum not working properly.

I guess fixing things was too much work, so they nuke the entire thing from orbit. Once the dust clears and the "toxic" community has dispersed, they'll probably make a new forum. Unless they are actually happy with reddit's mess. I don't know about other people but I have problems following conversations in the threads there, if there even are any. While posts in actual forums can easily reach essay length, I've never seen that on reddit. About 90% of all posts there are less than 3 lines. Reddit also lacks most tools of a proper forum.

I don't know if I even care anymore. I guess my final opinion about all this will be "meh".

Same^.  2 warning points for fighting with David (for being a crazy feminist) and Auld wulf (for being a traitorous sexist to other women in order to earn brownie points with other men, cuz I thought turians were ugly). School email expired and lost password, lost account. New account. I do have some likes and I did get a warning point again. It was sexually motivated, cuz krogan are sexy  :P

Aye, when the whole forum united with "I used to be part of the community but now I'm just from X"

Gotten a few for this thread too. It's cute, the forum is shutting down forever and they're still giving meaningless warnings.

"You must acknowledge this warning before you can continue."

Believe BroJo too. He was extremely active around here during the days of ME3MP and was always willing to discuss stuff.

Replying to an old post but w/e.

So I had posted earlier that I would get stressed etc. but ill provide more context into why I am less active here (Stress was probably the least factor, although things like the Gen3 discuss for DAI made me a bit so) but thats beside the point.

Yes ME3MP was my "glory time", the reason, I was largely involved in the live efforts for ME3, which mainly meant MP. I also loved (and still do) ME3MP, so as a result I was passionate about talking about it and I could bring something more to the conversation. Thus my activity at the time. Then when I moved to Dragon Age, I was not as passionate about DA as a whole when compared to ME (possibly related to being a first project, who knows). I had less to contribute, as I didnt know the lore, and I didnt have anything to add as I was on the technical side (you cant really tell people about tech before it launches). Then after it did launch I was involved in some of the technical aspects (although most of that was on Answers HQ).

This was also the time I went primarily over to reddit. Then I found I preferred reddit not because of the people but because of the format. Being notified when someone responded to something I said directly or being able to be 'paged' without having to go about it through a PM. Furthermore I very rarily upvoted/downvoted anything, I was completely removed from the moderation, so I couldnt be accused of censorship. Since I was doing some overnight work for the launch of DAI, information is critical to get quickly and I found again that reddit just allowed for that information quicker. If I replied to them in a reddit thread, they were likely going to get a notification nearly immediately and respond nearly immediately. I was then put on DLC for DAI, which again doesnt allow for much interaction/bringing things to the table when I cant really talk about the technology (the primary thing I work on).

Now I am on a project that I wont be able to talk about for a while so again, I have nothing to bring to the table.

tl;dr: I feel as though I have nothing to bring to the table

Sort of makes shutting down the forums a continuation of that bad PR trend...

Everyone is talking about the " toxicity" caused by DA2 and the ending of ME3 but what about the angry outbursts that followed the ME1 PC port announcement? It sure was a sight to behold.

I was never a very frequent visitor here, mostly I came for guides, lore discussions and walk-arounds for bugs, which are still often necessary because we all know how much care Bioware puts in their post-release support. For this reason alone these forums should be kept open.

Well yeah. But then this place is being closed so if anything it reaffirms it.
