You know, when I think about the Glassdoor review that mentions how you were never allowed to question the creator's ideas, I think back to Priestly and Woo. They were still onboard with Bioware in an unofficial capacity, even after they were fired. Hell, he was busy shitposting people in the Facebook thread, despite not even being recognized as an employee anymore, but acting like he was. His post is the only one is this very thread that is marked as "Popular", despite posts with similar like counts not getting the same label.

It was clear that he could never hack it outside Bioware.

And let's not forget this little gem:

http://www.reddit.co...hen_evil_chris/

Just read some of the Glassdoor reviews :(

It's all a bit sad really. Feels like the beginning of the end.

Anybody know whether this decision to close the forums will affect pre Origin DLCs?

You'll find a certain percentage of angry posters on any gaming forum, but with attentive moderation, it usually doesn't get as bad as it can be here.

I second this.

Moderation was much better on the legacy BSN (and more importantly, we had mods with names!). I haven't seen much mod activity since they made the switch to the new website early 2014.

you know, the community is so divided that lot of community members are arguing and fighting over which community forum is better. that's one thing i do not like. everybody in the BSN Prime is practically like my big family. we laugh, cry, argue, fight. i'm mostly trying to keep the community together in one place. not fighting against one other. all of this is caused by Bioware higher ups. if they didn't want to run a forum, they could have just picked someone to take control and run it independent on their own instead of running it. but that's just the moot point. i'm very committed to my community. i don't want them be gone just because of that decision by Bioware.

Very naive of you to think you can keep all the community together.

I still maintain that the BSN is one of the milder places on the internet. I'm not sure why everybody thinks it's so bad.

It absolutely is (a very mild place on the internet) I think the dichotomy in opinion regarding how "safe" or mild BSN is vs "what a cess pit" has to do with the fact that a lot of long form posters, old RPG enthusiasts, etc and maybe the older segment of the population on BSN (I'm 41 so I'm not firing shots here) probably don't spend any time in the dungeons of depravity all over the internet a lot of 20-30 yr olds cut their teeth on.

So my hunch is that there are a portion of BSN users (yes I know that a large portion of users do not post) that are here for the theorycrafting and long debates and they don't really care for or understand or abide by the other group of users that like to ruffle feathers for the fun of it- or people that are just ultra hostile constantly.

Whether my specifics are correct or not- it is evident to me that there is one group that likes to have thoughtful long form discussions and others that think guerrilla warfare is the high they want to surf. But again- BSN is largely internet lite IMO. I've been out there- it's a harsh world. Having someone disagree with you on BSN ain't nothing compared to the jungle out there.

It also doesn't help that Bioware itself painted this forum as being "toxic" and spread that across social media and news outlets.

Bioware gave this place the reputation it has.

Indeed. In fact, for a long time, probably since ME3 dropped, I've been wondering who in the world is responsible for their PR. Probably no one back then necessarily? Because screen caps and video of Casey Hudson saying things that are so blatantly mockable after the ending was revealed seems like seppuku level damage PR.

All I'm saying is, if you want to keep things professional, going out in the world saying "my house is a total mess, not in order, but we luv it but our fans are crazy idiots" is not a bright idea.

Bioware's marketing has been bad for freaking ever.

Lets not forget, "FIGHT LIKE A SPARTAN!"-DA2

Or those episodes of whatever where Bioware people are interviewing other Bioware people and made it look like the most cringeworthy stuff you could possibly record

Mass Effect 3 "YOU CAN START WITH THIS ONE, ITS A GREAT PLACE TO COME IN TO THE FRANCHISE"

Yeah, the terrible end as opposed to the great games that came before

How about Casey Hudson who went on Twitter and was like, "I read Mass Effect Deception, its a great book" when it was in fact the greatest insult to the intelligence of a Mass Effect fan up until the ME3 ending, perhaps even worse than the ending.

Then Bioware had the audacity to say they'd fix the book in later versions, which they never did.

Or how when the Bioware Bazaar thing blew up in their face they said they'd do global equivalents later, which they never did.

Bioware marketing sucks.

I actually think Cassandra has done rather well and deserves no criticism.

Her forum was first out of the blocks and she has put a ton of work into it. I thought it could have been 'the one' for about 36 hours.

With Cyonan, DragonRacer, Hrungr and others setting up at new BSN, and now by far the biggest group, I think the 'race' between the two is over.

However, I can't begrudge Cassandra a 'Bernie Sanders' moment (Brit attempts American political humor)
and when ready she will be welcomed at new BSN as will all members of our community.

I'm sure you're both right, but it really doesn't matter if they block me now. How will I know if they blocked me? If I try to tweet them again (unlikely) do I get a message or does my tweet go into that great cyberspace void?

I'm not a twitterer? or is it tweeter? Whatever. Like I said, this brought my total up to a whopping 24 tweets. I am so untwitterfied. I think I'll keep it that way.

I have no idea I don't tweet either. I use Twitter only to get news on the games that interest me.

Way back in 2010 I joined just to be able to download a couple of DLC, and after a while I lurked a bit, decided to post here and there. Ended up being quite active in some roleplay groups I even talk with one of those guys almost daily through skype. I may have lurked more than I posted but that was because of living in Europe, by the time I woke up and logged in new threads already had several pages and usually I just didn't feel like posting "I agree with x, y and x posts." just give them likes.

But even after BSN turned into the Bioware Forums, and the Off-Topic was closed I still felt this sense of community. We have our injokes, our discussions, our reckognizable faces...not to mention the actuald discussions. Pages and pages speculating about lore, trying to get everything out of trailers, talking about a single character of a game, etc. Sure, some youtube videos are easier to get through and take less time, like Biofan's, but if you really wanted to get into it this was the place.

I, and from what I've been reading many, didn't come here to talk to developers. We came here to have in depth discussions about your products (yes, products, because aside from videogames there are also novels, comics...) in a place that is user friendly and doesn't limit how much we can write. The original intent may have been to be a place where developers could talk to fans and viceversa but this site grew, and that became an extra, increasingly rarer, feature.

And well, if this is it, to all the people I've met. Thank you for the great times, even if we didn't end in good terms, and things sometimes do, thank you for the memories. Also, thank you Dean_the_Young and Ieldra, since I often looked at your profiles to seek out interesting discussions and you usually participated in those and made it sometimes easier to search the forums that way instead of just clicking any new thread, specially when I didn't have much time.

Ah, I can't comment then as I played it on console.

Speaking of, I miss DAO because it felt like a PC game I could play on console. Bioware hasn't made a game like that since.

Omg, look at him. Seeing Trump always puts a smile on my face. The bad comb-forward, orange skin, goggle tan lines and super white teeth--it's all very much grin worthy.

Earlier in the thread, I referred to a certain ex-BW employee as "a cartoon of a man." Can I take that back? I would instead like to use that description for Trump.

Anders is the protagonist in DA2. One of the big reasons (and there are many) why I disliked DA2 was that I wanted my character to be doing what Anders was doing. Anders got to be the one with vision and ambition, and all Hawke got to do was react.

Agreed completely. And if I was Anders, I'd have gone after the Chantry as soon as they stole my old lover's soul for ME3endings and giggles.

I love the way Yahtzee described Hawke's group: "some **** and his neighborhood watch group."

It also doesn't help that Bioware itself painted this forum as being "toxic" and spread that across social media and news outlets.

QFT. Especially Gaider. BW is actually the main reason for this forum's reputation, not the fans. They got their precious widdle feelings hurt so they trashed the entire community. People that don't visit BSN assumed "wow, that place must be hell if even BW's devs will say that publicly!" And why wouldn't they think that? What kind of hack says something like that about the fans?

All I say is that the community won't end up in the same forum. I've seen her forum and it looks good but not everyone will go there like she intends. I for example won't join any other forum and if I do it would be most likely http://bsn.boards.net/ (Though I doubt it). I will stay here until the end and then I'll forget about it.
