2010 truly was this community's prime time. By far the greatest year I spent around these parts.

Yep. I've got some serious nostalgia feels for femshep fandom going on right now. I'll miss this forum if for no other reason than that and the really cool people I met during that time.

I envy everybody playing Origins. I can never finish that game. I always get that "delayed combat" bug and it always gets too bad to even continue the game. You know the one (if you're unlucky). You and the enemy are standing there exchanging blows, but none of them are having any effect. There's a mage over there that just threw a fireball into a crowd and nothing happened to anyone. Then 20 seconds later, the mobs started realizing they're dead.

It's so much fun to troubleshoot because when you ask anyone, as soon as they hear "lag", they tell you your computer isn't good enough to run it. Right, guys. My FX8350 and GTX970 can't handle 2009's games.

That's weird as heck... never happened to me, but then again the last time I played Origins was like 5 years ago.

The way you describe it, indeed sounds like online lag.

Wait, got the brightest idea! try to ask EA support for help!

I just feel that all this talk of "Because we're not here to engage the fans" tries to make it more about Bioware then about the fans.

"It's not you, it's us" essentially.

WHY ARE YOU BREAKING UP WITH ME BIOWARE.

But seriously, it just seems like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Yeah the devs may not be here as much, but that doesn't mean this forum needs to go. This could be the officially sanctioned Bioware forums but rather then the devs being the managers of it, they could simply be members. If they're here, great. If not, life goes on and we do what we've done for the past few years -- talk amongst ourselves about whatever.

Moreover, the BSN exists as the Nexus where we all come together. If a tumblr post or a twitter message pops up then it's shared here where people can see it. I do not have twitter and I won't ever get it, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy seeing the tweets here in the forums.

Yeah, kind of. It's a pretty common bug unfortunately. Earlier in the year I tried to play it and searched up and down the web for a solution but even 7 years later no one knows why it happens or how to fix it. It happens to both PC and console players. No commonality has been found. It's a real scooby doo mystery.

Wait, got the brightest idea! try to ask EA support for help!

Get over it everyone, the era of restricting free speech and expression is over.

No more PA in response to every little thing you find distasteful, time to succeed on your merits.

That's generally understood to be caused by a lack of available RAM, rather than an inadequate CPU or GPU. At least, that's what people consistently told me, and a RAM upgrade fixed things for me. What do you have, and what's your OS?

Windows 7 and 16 gigs. If it's caused by RAM issues, why does it effect some console players and not others? The strength of consoles is that they all have exactly the same specs.

I suppose I should considerate it ironic and, why not, oddly appropriate that I've received my first warning point ever (I think) for posting a .gif of Supergirl saying, "Hope" in the eve of the BSN's series finale. I think that settles it on whether we can change any minds about keeping this place open.

Just a reminder (and for those just tuning in), Cyonan's BSN is the place to be for all your BSN'ing needs once this forum goes the way of the dodo:

http://bsn.boards.net/

We have over 500 members and growing, we're saving guides and info threads you may find useful and all the cool kids are doin' it.

It's like getting to that space station or whatever at the end of Interstellar only without the hours of random space shenanigans, Hans Zimmer falling asleep on his keyboard or Anne Hathaway*

*Note: We cannot confirm or deny the existence of Anne Hathaway on BSN with any degree of certainty. Cyonan and BSN are not liable for any encounters or inane speeches about love.

Yes, truly, the termination of a free, public, official place of discourse between consumer and creator is a great victory against restriction of speech and expression!

Perusing over the New Yorker article posted on the thread by a fellow forumite earlier today when...

thousands more have signed a petition demanding the ending be changed (a charity drive to build awareness for the cause raised eighty thousand dollars), and a fan went so far as to file a complaint against BioWare with the Federal Trade Commission

I have only one question in my mind...

Where did all that money go?

Where I am spending most of my time is in my signature, but there is a lovely post here that collects all of the alternatives. Why not give them all a try and see where your heart leads you? After all, wherever you land is where the cool kids will be. :)

Same. I was actually surprised by how well David Draiman of Disturbed did his cover of the song.

At least the vocals anyway.

It's been a LONG time but I think the money was donated to one of those charities that gives video games to kids in hospitals or something along those lines.

I think it went to Child's Play, which, as I recall, got upset at being used for a protest. But hey, at least the anger and upset of so many people did some good in the end.

I was checking some other news, and yeah BioWare's decision of closing the forums is still dumb (we'll keep you updated, don't you worry!).

I was thinking of this:

giphy.gif

I don't have to tell you which one is Bio and which one is us...

Got that gif yesterday, HAD to use it lul.

Nope. Same old, same old.

Did they take offense at the implication that BioWare is going to share the fate of Origin System, Bullfrog, Westwood etc?

BioWare has at least 3 more years in it before EA will get rid of it completely. They two very well established IPs with Dragon Age and Mass Effect, both will get a new game in the foreseeable future. SW:TOR is still going strong (or at least it still makes a profit), so that's not going anywhere either. Then there's this new IP they have in development.

So yeah. It's the end times ... but only for the forum.

Hmm. When I've seen this sort of thing in the past it's turned out to be two indpendent bugs with similar symptoms. But that was PC stuff; I've never heard a plausible interpretation for two supposedly identical consoles having different bug profiles. But I don't follow console stuff all that closely.

Come to think of it, I remember a rumor that DA:O had problems with too much RAM as well as too little. Something about a bad addressing scheme.
