2010 truly was this community's prime time. By far the greatest year I spent around these parts.
Also good luck, Jade. I hope to see you around still!
Thanks BSN for everything, but I need to retreat.
I won't stop playing SW:TOR I am just F2P now. And, sorry if I gave the impression I wasn't going to buy ME:A at all, I will just wait until the NDA lifts so I can learn about it.
I was given a chance to say what I really needed to, and for that I will always be grateful, but that was back on page 107.
The rest, I don't know, hopefully somewhat well thought out posts, or mere ramblings, I don't know anymore. I only had 692 posts before the news was broken to me, but I have read so many, many threads. Too many pages to count. I have cherished all of it, the good and the bad, the tame and the loud, the calm and the heated. It truly was my sanctuary. I was just hurt and upset. Now I am just sore from banging my head against the wall.
I have been here since 2010. I will miss these forums very, very much.

You're leaving already?

I disagree about the toxicity relative to reddit, tumblr, etc, other places, this place was the worst absolutely IMO.
This place was for the longest time, even up to the very present, a place which seemed to exist solely to demonstrate just how miserable people with nothing but texts and words could make other people feel.
Anyone who disagreed with the hive mind consensus on anything was abused and/or ultimately censored in one form or another, either by continued abuse or just kind of burying threads/commentary in invective and/or other things.
Really? Because no matter how threads get drafted off topic, good moderation could stop that and the original post would still be there. On reddit an un-popular opinion can be quickly drowned out in downvotes. The PokemonGo sub is apparently not a nice place and a mod of the Nomanssky sub got death threats for creating a big post trying to refute the leaks.
The reason the Dragon Age sub isn't a bastion of Villianry is not because reddit makes people nicer, it's because there's fewer people on there compared to the forums. Plus can't have a nice big discussion on reddit.

Reddit ocassionally you can have like a real interaction though.
The amount of passive aggressive rage on here is like 1000000x greater than every place I've ever seen, it's nothing but passive aggressive rage basically.
That doesn't mean always "death threats" but for instance in your post "REALLY?" There's ALWAYS SARCASM and you see that kind of ANNOYS SOME PEOPLE ON PURPOSE
I've literally never seen an exchange here between people that was just nice, cordial, conversation, ever, in a sincere way, and not fake.
A lot of is just loser men with their impotency and depressing marriages trying to block all interactions with female nerds and other crap like that, sorry but this place is a degenerate cesspit. Although that can also be loser women with depressing marriages to impotent men, it's come to my attention.
And somehow it's all nerds fault for this, it's Bio and Ray Muzyka THEY are to blame for somehow all these people's ridiculous depressing problems that were entirely self-inflicted.
Just when you think humanity can't sink any lower....
Believe me there are tons of nerds who would of loved to have been able to be more clear as to explicating people's problems and what should be done about them, but they only prevention to that was those very people who rage now.

To be fair, the passive aggressive rage in this thread is mostly a coping mechanism, we're venting frustration through snark.
(At least, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it)

To be fair, you just proved my point.
Anyway there's no point in venting, the voice of ******* online harrassment and just online whatever as relevant is dead as disco, there's no going back.
Alternative forums are great to exist simply for people to connect, should they wish, but that is their purpose, there is no more "You have to listen to me and my problems!"
If you have problems psychologically emotionally or whatever you will be polite and inquire as to aid from someone like a human being and not like a ****ing animal with brain damage.
I've literally never seen an exchange here between people that was just nice, cordial, conversation, ever, in a sincere way, and not fake.
That might be a result of a pair of things coming together. One is that you might only be interested in conversations revolving around you, the second is that nobody besides yourself shares that interest here in any sincere way.
Twenty three days to go until forum lock. Is anyone doing anything special for the end days?
Yes. I'll come here everyday just to say Hello and read what my colleagues are posting. That's the most anyone can do, anyway.
I've also written a farewell message, where I hope to have expressed what you guys and the BSN meant to me all this time: http://bit.ly/2avnOFe
I wish I could convey how the time spent here has been a stellar experience. Not because of the devs or Bioware, but because of the fans coming here everyday and keeping the forum alive.
To quote Spock: 'Nature abhors a vacuum.' There's been all sorts of shenanigans on the BSN - good shenanigans, and some bad ones, too, (but that only made things more interesting!) -, but never a dull moment.
I'm crying. I just got a warning point for discussing moderation in you've been given a warning thread.
Oh man. This is hilarious
Same here. Same thread which has been removed.
I probably shouldn't say more than that...

Yikes. Just yikes.
The BSN is really not the problem here, Kefka.
I was about to say the same.
Kefka is one of the posters who come into a discussion with their unshakeable opinion based on "facts" only they can see and who argue until everyone else has given up, never even trying to see the other side of an argument.
All those statements like "this forum is the most toxic" or "never seen any nice people on here" or "nobody is sincere" are absolutely wrong. I am sure that 99% of the posters here have made different experiences, so all of Kefka's statements are already empirically false.
I'm not saying that we don't have a lot of sarcastic, snarky and fake people in this forum... but I don't think they are the majority.
I've literally never seen an exchange here between people that was just nice, cordial, conversation, ever, in a sincere way, and not fake.
So you haven't seen all the nice posts people made to the lady who said that Bioware games helped her after her Husband passed away or the other threads with positive interactions. You've also not visited at the best time where everyone is now upset/depressed about the whole closing.
While this isn't directly about reddit it has an interesting point:
.. Neither of these mediums really favour a long form approach. Occasionally, a longer piece will thrive on Reddit, but the problem lies in the vote algorithm. If I submit, say, a hypothetical long form piece on ADC mechanics, this could reach the front page (and in fact, many links along these lines do thrive if the content is good enough). However, upvotes are weighted based on frequency and speed, and the longer a piece is up, the less an upvote counts. Early downvotes—even from just a handful of people!—can also sink a piece, making even a great idea virtually unnoticeable.
If you want to get a lot of upvotes in a very short amount of time, make something easily digestible or very exciting on the surface. Many content creators have caught on, and off we go, leading us into our second problem.

.... Regardless of where I am, I wont be violating my NDA. ...
That's perfectly sensible, what I wonder is whether a dev popping their head up on an unofficial forum is less likely
to get hog-piled with questions than on the official forum?

You seem to be mistaking the snark as evidence for people being unable to converse on the forums politely and without conflict, which is most definitely not the case. As others have said, plenty of people on these forums are snarky and happen to be polite and friendly.
Just because people aren't happy about Bioware torching the set and run when it comes to the forums, doesn't mean that their passive-aggressive anger is evidence of the "toxicity" that is supposedly present here. It's more the case of a fandom who are frustrated at being treated like they're the problem child, when it's really more about Bioware's inability to handle any and all forms of criticism like an actual adult.
Oddly enough, most of my experiences on these here forums have been pleasant. What kept me coming here were genuinely helpful people who helped each other through the buggier parts of the DAO romances. Before mods 'n patches, Zevrans in particular was kinda borked. There was some complaining, but mostly there was a great deal of mutual aid and an outpouring of fan produced work in mods, art and guides. Each game following has had much the same, more for some and less for others. In between releases, the forums games in Off Topic flourished. If you followed the music threads then you wound up exposed to an awful lot of good music and heavy metal
.
TL:DNR My experience here has been overwhelmingly positive. Which is both good and kinda sad at this point.

Really! Every conversation here that you've joined in hasn't been nice or cordial? That's just so surprising!
Just took a look at Reddit, geez that's a mess to sort through compared to our forums here. Also spent some time on tumblr... just no.
So where do we go to discuss Bioware games with other fans, and what about giving feedback to Bioware? I'd visit Comic-Con and other events if I didn't live on the northpole.

I'm going to:
1)Camp this thread
2)I'm perusing a lot of the subforums and topics I've bypassed and feel like I'm cramming for a college exam, just so I can have fun, read all the hilarity, and lend a helpful comment whenever possible and joke around.
3)I'm going to write a letter and send it snail mail direct to Bioware about my experience as a fan since I discovered ME1.
P.S. The ignore function is a beautiful beautiful thing right now.

There is still time to change that, mwahahahaha

(I couldn't find the gif that I wanted because life is hard sometimes, but Vroom was going to post a gif of either Cobra Commander or Shredder shaking his fist at you)
Example, for the most part, we are all being nice and cordial to one another in this thread. There's nothing fake. Just a group of people coming together over a situation that they have an opinion about. If you can't see that and stick by your claim that I quoted then that's all on you and not the other users.
The choc-chip cookies I brought were fake.
They're oatmeal raisin.
