CDPR did something similar not that long ago. During the release of The Witcher 3 and its DLC they didn't utter a single word about Cyberpunk 2077 yet they're currently working on the title. It could be argued they had already announced it though.

Not similar at all. They told us that they were working on the game, the title, some VERY basic info, and told us that we wouldn't likely hear anything more about it for at least several years but they just wanted to let us know what they're planning down the road. The community immediately forgot that last part about years away and began to complain about not getting monthly updates.

This doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense. Trespasser was announced to be the end of the DAI DLC cycle, just as Citadel was announced to be the end of the ME3 DLC cycle. And Shadow Realms is not the unannounced IP.

OT: anyone else catch Undead Han's kamikaze run on the ME:A board?

No. Haven't been to that side since last night. But I'm intrigued. ;) What happened?

As much **** as I may give this place, it isn't THAT bad.

I also reject any notion that this is supposed to be good or that the place is useless because devs don't come here anymore. Plenty of forums have places where devs only ever interact rarely. The biggest point of forums is they give a place for your fanbase to interact: to discuss lore, character analysis, multiplayer, etc., and of course, an off-topic section for users of the forum to discuss their other interests like a community should. A company's forum like this should be for their users' benefit first and foremost.

The truth is this shut down means people will never get together like they do here on a forum of similar style (not reddit or tumblr or more).

Most game forums don't have dev involvement. Bioware was notable for being very sociable here. Then they started being more like everyone else and now thats grounds for closure.

I don't get it.

He declared himself BioWareM0d13 and that he had been taken over by EA. Or something to that effect. The entire thread was deleted very quickly and I assume he's been placed on a temporary ban.

Ah happy days. /s

I especially remember how Priestly decided to throw shade on Banshee individually in his banishment notice for being slightly more prolific than Banshee should have been with his largely positive and good natured posts. He was apparently too social for the Bioware Social Network. Then we were consigned to that dreadful, backwater part of the old BSN that you couldn't search or easily navigate to the latest post. What an absolute ray of sunshine Mr Priestly was.

@mrs_anomaly - I confess I did my share of venting in the first few days after beating the game. But when I first heard about the Indoctrination Theory I found it such an attractive idea that I mellowed considerably. Even if Bioware hadn't thought of it themselves I thought it improved the last game immeasurably. Until we were forbidden to talk about it, that is.

Holy crap, I never knew people were actually banned for talking about it.  That's seriously messed up.  I must have left that whole fiasco right before that started to happen, or I likely woulda been among those banned.  I liked the IT idea.

Problem with gamers is that oftentimes they'll say "I hate this" "I hate that" "I won't support this" "I won't support that" but STILL GET THE GAMES ANYWAY.

Its irritating. For example, remember Bungie's game Destiny? I played it for a couple of months and then it felt like more of a chore. It got old. I put it down and told my raid group and friends, "I won't ever be playing this again". They didn't believe me.

That was late 2014. And I have still not touched it since.

But you can bet that many who would say the same things would be jumping right back in.

The sad thing is, gamers let people manipulate them. It happens all the time. Gamers want to play games and no matter what makes them annoyed/mad/sad, they're still most likely going to go out and play those games made by people they disagree with or don't support. Its odd.

Lets look at Bioware for example. Mr. Manveer Heir and his White Tears mug. That pissed A LOT of people off, myself included. A lot of people saying they won't support anything he has a hand in. Technically that includes Andromeda. But guess what? Most are still going to get the game.

I have to admit I am guilty of this at times.  I played Destiny when it first came out and was ticked off at the low amount of content in the game and the terrible story telling.  I turned it off, traded it in, and a month ago I got it again and started playing again.  Forty dollars for the original game and the DLC isn't bad, and there is a lot of content there now to go through and I am actually enjoying it now.  Even joined a clan to get into some raids that I wasn't able to do before and I gotta say they are fun.

Still though, I have learned my lesson, so I am not gonna buy Destiny 2 on day 1 this time.  I'm gonna wait to see if it is as low on content as the first one was, and may just wait to buy it when they have an edition that includes DLC.

I mostly lurk here, but I'd like to open up and share my feelings on these forums before the tide of darkness consumes us all... so to speak.

I've been here for a while, since about 2010 with a different account, and I was terrible with remembering passwords so here I am with one from 2012. In all that time, I've mostly been a lurker at large (whatever the heck that means) and I've seen The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Honestly, I think it's more Good and Strange, really, and I remember a lot of veteran posters from all those years ago here in this very thread. I rarely see anything like that in other forums, and it's pleasant. I've also been able to browse these with most of my free time if the mood takes me, unlike some other forums, so I really don't perceive any true "toxicity".

Sure, there's been a lot of criticism. There's been quite a bit of drama, too. But there's also been a lot of friendliness and camaraderie, helpfulness and outright love of the games, good or bad or whatever. I think that's just part of being human, as well as dealing with other humans, you just get the whole package. Especially the stranger threads, and those were likely my favorite. Even among all the stuff that goes on, there were easy to find threads full of people who just wanted to enjoy themselves, like the DA3 Meme Thread or the Unconfirmed Rumors about What's in DA:I thread. I guess what I'm getting at is, this has been the most consistently enjoyable forum on the internet and I didn't even talk most of the time, as strange as that is! Sorry for the ugly wall of poorly structured thought, but I'm going to miss these forums and all you others out there... Yes, even you. :b

Lol I thought the same about the multiplayer, the idea sounded disgusting in my ears. I didn't even want to touch the MP before completing the campaign. But when I got into it, I just had so much fun.

I'm not much of a multiplayer fellow, the only MP I play was BF3/4, but ME3MP was the game I kept playing no matter what. Learned some very interesting builds, how to play certain characters (like the Awakened Collector) and other related stuff on the MP forums.

Good times.

Ohh totally.  I have to give them credit, they made a great MP experience.  When they started releasing newer characters like Geth, Vorcha, etc, I was freaking loving it.  I may get ME:A just for the MP at some point.

Only thing I hated about it were the FREAKING BANSHEES!!!!

*ahem*  Sorry, flashbacks.

However DA:I's MP was terrible.  That one they really should have left out.

I remember back when the devs used to hang out with us on the forums, when people were excited for the next game, the next installment in the dynasty of Bioware games.

But those days are gone. I didn't believe it until now. Not after ME3, not after the Doctors left, not after so many different things.

But here we are. Once Bioware was so cool because they were so involved in their community, but those days are gone. They are actively rejecting their community, and going out of their way to keep us from being a community, even on our own terms. They were my favorite developer, and now we're here.

The devs who show up every day bringing their A game, you're all aces in my book. Andromeda looks super cool. But at this point... Bioware is dead. Like all the other studios gobbled up by EA over the years. Sure, the name is still there, and even some of the same people work there, but its been gutted. So many of the people that made it great were gone, and now the community that sprung up around it will be gone too.

What is the point of making all those great games, of working so hard on them, when you can't even stand the people you make them for so much that you don't want them to be able to get together and talk about them?

I've seen plenty of people say it, and now it's my turn. Goodbye, Bioware. I would of stuck with you forever, but you clearly don't feel the same way. Good luck in your future endeavors, and thanks for the memories, because as much as it saddens me to say it, your best days are behind you, not in front of you.

Yeah. I ranted about it a little earlier too. After they banned the topic, quite a few people went "WTF?! Why can't we talk about this?!" or tried to continue discussing it. Both were permanently banned even if it was a first offense.

And people wonder why we hate CP.

I like both silent and voiced equally. I just require that, if voiced, the voice acting should be good. I didn't really think female Hawke's VA was good tbh, and Inquisitor was even worse. Maybe I'm just prejudiced against female voices. Idk

I think voiced characters oughta be left more for characters like Geralt, and silent protagonists should be for character customization.  Just my opinion.

I'd like to hear more about this. Like most right thinking people, the ME3 endings pissed me off, but my coping mechanism was to step away from the boards for a while because it was all so annoying, so I missed this. I assume they won't ban you for talking about it now. Although I guess they might.

Yeah. Well, imo Hawke was a Geralt, so that's probably why I liked Hawke a bit more than Inquisitor. I think I would have preferred the Inquisitor, which does have a variety of backgrounds, to have been silent.
