Thanks. I came up with it while I was scouring the series for subtext and stuff. I'm still trying to decide if it's on purpose. I wouldn't think so, but it fits so well...
Also, I use the dark magic of the dancing honey badger (in spoiler for Spirit Vanguard)
Spoiler
On a related note, I wanted to post the Mako gif too, but they're permabanning people for posting pictures with bad, bad words in them. Easily findable by googling "mass effect mako gif".

Ok... At first I didn't know what your avatar was. Then I decided it's a skunk, even though it doesn't look like a skunk. ![]()
And they're really permabanning for that? Because if so, we won't be seeing GoldenGail again. ![]()

Aww, we're discussing moderation again! You know what that means, the mods are gonna come back and spank us again!
Yeah. Not every time, but when I first started reading the thread people were really angry over someone called Dragon Racer I think being banned. And supposedly it was just for posting a picture with a single curse in it.
You didn't recognize the honey badger? You're missing one of the Internet's great memes, sir. It's a completely fearless animal that picks fights with everything from cobras to lions to bee hives. Even at 30 pounds, it's been known to defeat and sometimes kill adult lions. Wanna know how? When facing larger mammals, it rips off their genitals and brawls until they bleed out. Seriously.

Are you currently posting from the bushes outside the ex-boyfriends house?

I'd also like to thank Mod08 for giving me my first warning. I will cherish it forever and will never forget you! All future warnings I get will forever live in the shadow of my first, thus being compared and never, ever meeting the standard that was set. ![]()

Is this because I just gave everyone 1000 likes a day?
I figure it is like a going out of business sale, we only have a month left to use up all our excess "like this" inventory!
This explains why I'm able to smother everyone in likes, which I really like doing.

Let's be honest. It never will.
The people who run the social media accounts are used to posting fluff pieces about the latest hoodie, or crowing about how many pictures they took at a convention. They'll crack at the slightest hint of pressure, if they aren't already doing so due to the turnover that's been discussed in the Glassdoor reviews.
It's a company that's had to put a thin veneer on themselves for several years, and it seems like this might be the straw that breaks the camel's back. I would not be surprised at if this is the precursor to layoffs.

Now I may be wrong, but all I get from this is that BioWare doesn't want people to read other people's criticism of their games because they don't want to lose the sales from people that are easily swayed in a particular direction.
How does closing the BSN solve that? People can still post negative comments on all the other alternatives that we were given. All you have to do is type it up in a google search and it's all there, ready to be read and absorbed by anyone willing, just as it would be if they came to the BSN to read it. Bioware have zero control of what someone puts on their personal blog on tumblr. At least on here they can do damage control if they wanted to. To me, it's all so completely contradictory.
I would like to point out that in Conal's OP he never said anything about the BSN being closed down due to its "Toxic" (I hate this word now) atmosphere. I do personally think that that has something to do with it even though I don't feel like the BSN is Toxic myself, but according to the official representative of BioWare (which means we can leave out anything that Gaider and Priestly have to say) it doesn't, which makes it speculation at this point.
In the end, if that is BioWare's reasoning, then it's all kinds of idiocy.
The problem is that ME was always a niche franchise. The original game appealed to a more traditional TPS/RPG crowd. Every attempt they've made since then to casualize it has either blown up in their face or been regarded as weaker years after the fact.
Conversely, all those negative mentions of the BSN are going to linger long after it's closed - I don't see the company going through the effort to sanitize their image through a professional reputation service, nor do I see them doing anything more than further trimming their bottom line.

They don't want cussing or trolling... so they intend to move us to Twitter, Reddit, Tumblr and Facebook.

There's a lot of crapposting (is that a better word? Exact same meaning, lol) and conspiracy nut jobs here as well. There is some truth to the claim that a few bad apples spoil the bunch. With that said, I don't agree that simply throwing up our collective hands and burning forums and comment sections as the solution. The Guardian and Yahoo have done some interesting research into comment sections/how to auto target abuse that might yield some solutions. Yahoo claims their algorithm to find abuse is 90% accurate. The obvious answer is better moderation with auto-moderation to call attention to abuse and actual humans with the capacity to make judgment calls. The assistance of auto-mods would cut down the workload but still need some human oversite.

Ohh totally. I have to give them credit, they made a great MP experience. When they started releasing newer characters like Geth, Vorcha, etc, I was freaking loving it. I may get ME:A just for the MP at some point.
Only thing I hated about it were the FREAKING BANSHEES!!!!
*ahem* Sorry, flashbacks.
However DA:I's MP was terrible. That one they really should have left out.
Oh DA:Is MP... I tried it once. Once. What's the first thing that happens to me? the classic infinite loading screen bug in which you can hear all other people playing but you're still in loading screen.
I was so pissed (maybe I was being "dramatic" I don't know) that I never touched the thing again, lost all interest immediately.

After last night's insanity, I fully expected to wake up to a premature wasteland. Congrats to all who survived the Mod Bot uprising. For me, I believe at this point I've said all the ineffectual words I have left to say, and this garbage announcement has already consumed way too much of my time. Thanks to everyone in this thread for the shared commiseration, the wistful nostalgia and the awkward laughs over the past few days. To those who intend to stick it out to the bitter end, shine on, you crazy diamonds. And remember: you're only as toxic as you feel.

Mass Effect lent itself well to the multiplayer experience. It took minor tweaks to make the single player system work for multiplayer.
With Dragon Age they had to throw the baby out with the bathwater. The controls were gutted in order to make them multiplayer friendly and that left the single player controls a shell of what they had been before.
Not really forum related but what are they going to do, ban me for being off-topic?
