DOWN WITH THE AUTHORITY

What if that really happened?
What if - not right after Andromeda release, but a couple of months later - Bioware created another forum, with new features?
I'd be so angry that they were willing to throw out all of this history to help their marketing (they probably are though) and then go on like nothing happened.

If it's any consolation, that's the typical ethos of most big corporations. It's nothing (truly) personal, I think.
On the other hand, like many people already said, should Andromeda not live up to the hype that'll certainly be created prior to its release, EA+Bioware will once again see themselves facing an angry mob, dissatisfied with their product.

It's one of the prevailing theories running around.
I really don't see how it would benefit them to nuke this all, ****** a lot of us right in the feels, and then go "welp MEA here's your new forum!".
1)Even if they did that it would probably be all MEA. So if you want the good ol' BSN experience here that has resources for all games, GLWT.
2)I'm not even buying MEA anymore because I'm officially butthurt over this forum closure.
In conclusion I'd be really angry.

Well, I hope Bioware has a REALLY smart marketing campaign to recover the fans they lost with this whole forum closure affair.
I sincerely doubt that Bioware has a shovel massive enough to dig themselves out of this one. I'm prepared to be wrong.

I don't think they care. If we interpret those Glassdoor reviews at face value the upper management of BW is completely dettached from what's their fanbase thinks or wants.

I have to agree with you. My bet is that Andromeda will be a sort of reboot of the ME series, without being a reboot.
It will be a new story, with a new protagonist, one that looks much younger than Shepard. That asari from the trailer is also quite youthful. So I'm guessing Bioware isn't really concerned with what their fanbase has to say about the game because they're aiming at a younger audience.
Here's my latest tinfoil theory: not only is shutting down the forums a peremptory marketing decision for MEA, it's also a subtle method of discouraging people to play the original trilogy and instead buy MEA. Having easy access to mods, build guides, bug fixes and the like increases replayability of a game. Replayability means playing a game one has already purchased rather than buying new games, and in the case of ME1 and ME2 there wouldn't even be any MP microtransactions. So by not even leaving the boards as read only indefinitely, Bio is pushing people away from the old games, hoping that everyone will gravitate to the new one.
This is getting more and more like extreme isolationism, if what you said is true. I just feel bad for new comers. If they closed this place down during the ME3 fiasco I don't think I would have bought ME1 and ME2 subsequently.
If MEA performs well, then I expect there should be more sales to the original franchise. None of all this makes much sense unless they are also planning to take every single previous ME game off the shelves, in this case, more eyebrow raising
Hey me too! Spam buddies.
lol yay for us, but i really do not know which comment offended them :/
tbh. i leave maybe 15 or something here... maybe it was that one i thanked one person
that showed me how to put that "spoiler" button on gifs? idk anymore...
but really closing forum will do no good to them, people noww will be criticizing it
and if they think they can control it, they are wrong. now imagine some big youtuber will
do a harsh critique, it will hit theiir sales, because a lot of people wait for opinion of others.
....sigh. I started crying again. I'm hardly an emotional person but reading another 100 pages of posts of sadness will do that do that to someone who's really going to miss the forums....
Anyway... as we engage in our Final Conversation, with the Fate of our Galaxy all but certain, as we bid our Farewells Into the Inevitable at this Beginning of the End, I still Stand Strong and Stand Together with those that think that shutting down the forums is a mistake. Trying to convince BW to reverse the decision though would be a Suicide Mission, given the lack of Reflections EA seems to have in their Resolution, which feels more like a Betrayal to the BW fan base than anything. Convincing Jack would probably be easier despite how that confrontation would be like a Gunship Battle, facing Death from Above.
While I do look forward to ME:A, I don't doubt that aside from the Collector Base of fans, many gamers will turn to Criminal Elements and Piracy! in response to the decision to shut down the forums. As for What the Future Holds, shutting down the forums unfortunately signals An End to an Era, one where gamers will no longer be able to share The Long Walk together in a location where we could mutually discuss what we experienced through a Leviathan's worth of stories, joy and sadness as we explored Uncharted Worlds despite Tensions Rising as we contemplated alternatives and plot lines to A Future That Many Will Never See. As for The End Run, I will probably stay here until The Final Reckoning is upon us all....
...I was bored lol. replaying a ME song a hundred times gets to you after a while, as does staring at the names of all the Mass Effect Soundtrack...lol. anyway Im still having a hassle with identifying some notes for the piano arrangement im working on.
i am on those two
why making some limitations here?
go for both, i am sure you will find a lot old and new people to talk ![]()
I... I got a warning point for saying "d*mn if we're going to need it" in a post. That I was being "disrespectful".
I haven't been warned about using that word since I was five, in church.
Seriously?
I... I need a good bottle of scotch to deal with the ridiculousness that is this forum closure. I've never seen anything so unprofessional and tone deaf as how this is being handled, and I've been around for a lot of forum closures. Who the frak is running this show? lol
it is funny because under your edited post is another one that is quoting you, and it is unedited xD
Apparently it is forbidden to politely link to another BSN forum post in an appropriate context. I think this digital engagement didn't do me any service with, in this case, helping me to foster conversations without the need of new spaces, and preserve valuable documentation for current and future customers.
How does that sound? Am I getting the hang of BW-speak? ![]()

Bioware - based on previous performance, I am preparing for the worst, but will ask to confirm
If these questions have been answered on some other form of social media, I would appreciate it if someone could copy/paste the answers or provide a link.
Yes
No?
Yes unless if it's on a 3rd party website.
Only for a month after the shutdown.
^
Ahahahaha. EA, customer service, training!?
Yes.
Bioware - based on previous performance, I am preparing for the worst, but will ask to confirm
- is private messaging being removed?
- is the toolset wiki being removed?
- are the projects going to be removed/unsupported?
- could the toolset forum be left as 'read only' since some of that information was never moved to a wiki?
- could the 'technical support' forums be left as 'read only' since that information isn't available anywhere else?
- is Origin support going to receive more training since their current default is to suggest the forum for any questions (technical support) about DA games?
- are groups going to be removed/become inactive?

Good questions.
I'm not sure, but I think PMs will not be allowed after close down. However, I do not recommend using PMs, because moderators are able to access them.
The forums will be read only until one month after closing down. They will be purged from history afterwards.
I think it is safe to assume that the same goes for the social groups.
No idea, about your other questions.

Thank you for responding, but I really want the answers from Bioware - if they haven't already answered them elsewhere. The toolset wiki, the toolset forum discussions, and the technical forum/discussions being my biggest concerns since removing them would be obliterating valuable resources. I expect Bioware to remove them, but I can hope for a bit of sanity in the latest fiasco.

They are removing all those, but technical support in Answers EA will remain. Apparently they might use forums on closed beta stuff in the future too so I guess hull of forums will remain.
